Tournament rules(STYD2 rules)

General:
- Bring your own controller, or ensure someone is bringing one for you. Tournament staff are not resposible for providing extra controllers.
- Good behaviour is expected; we don't want to get kicked out of the church. In particular, do not damage any church or tournament participant's belongings, and do not make a lot of noise (there will be people other than us using the church during tournament hours, we don't want to get reported). If tournament staff deems that you are causing trouble in this fashion, you will be kicked out of the tournament without refund.
- Controllers: see MLG rules (no modifications aside from cosmetic changes, no programmed buttons)
- No pausing during a match unless there is a good reason. If you pause repeatedly for no good reason, you may forfeit that match at the discretion of tournament staff.
- No infinite stall/freeze glitches (ie: Peach's Wallbombing, Jigglypuff's rising pound, Ice Climber freeze glitch, etc). If you use these in a match, you forfeit that match. If one of these tactics is used on you for the purpose of stalling the
match, pause the game and call for tournament staff.
- Once a match has been announced, it must be started within 5 minutes. If one or more of the participants does not show up within the 5 minutes, they forfeit the match. This applies to both singles and doubles.

Match rules 64:

The game will be played on 64 by default, EXCEPT if BOTH player want to play on a wii.

SINGLES:
•Double Elimination
•All matches are best of 3, with finals best of 5.
•5 stock, No Time limit
However excessive STALLING is NOT allowed! If caught doing so, you will be asked to stopped with a warning. If you continue to do so, you will forfeit the match.
•Items OFF

DOUBLES:
- Will start before singles
- 2v2 double elimination
- As far as game play - singles rules apply
- Team Attack On

STAGE OPTIONS:
•Stages available: Peach's Castle, Hyrule Temple, Dreamland, Congo Jungle and Saffron city
Saffron City
* If Saffron City is selected on random the first match of a set and one of the players is using Ness, he or she may request a re-pick.

* However, if the Ness player wins the match, his/her opponent may counterpick Saffron City.

•However, if both players agree to play on ANY OTHER stage, or RANDOM they may do so.

•First round stage is random unless players can agree upon a stage
•Advanced Slob Picks - Loser may choose the next stage among the available and counter stages or random, then winner may choose to change characters, then loser may change characters
•Double Blind may be called in the first match

Match rules melee:

- All matches are 4 stock, 8 minute time limit.
- Doubles-specific: Team attack ON, life stealing allowed.
- Dave's Modified Stupid Rule: No stage may be used twice in a single set if the player choosing already won on that stage.
- Stage Knock-out: Each player (or team, in teams) may choose to eliminate one of the legal stages (neutral OR counterpick) to be chosen at the beginning of the set.
- Advanced Slob Picks: Loser may choose the next stage or elect to go random, then winner may choose to change characters, then loser may change characters
- Double blind pick may be called at any time (the only time this is useful is, before players choose their first initial character, before the first game starts).
- Neutral stages: Fountain of Dreams (BANNED in teams), DreamLand 64, Battlefield, Yoshi's Story, Final Destination,
- Counterpick stages: Any neutral stage, plus Rainbow Cruise, Green Greens, Corneria, Brinstar, Mute City (Banned in teams), Poke Floats, Donkey Kong 64, Jungle Japes, Pokemon Stadium
- Any other stage is BANNED in both singles and doubles.

Match rules brawl: (copy and paste from sbr rules)

General rules:3 Stock
• 8 minute timer
• Items are set to "off" and "none" All sets with the exception of winner's finals, loser's finals, and the championship are best of 3 matches (best of 5 and above should be played out for any "finals" matches) I
• in the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors
• No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
• In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.
• If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage.
• Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.
• If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.
• You are responsible for your own controller and name tag. Any malfunctions or errors that occur are your responsibility, so bring an extra controller if possible and always check to make sure you're using the correct settings BEFORE a match is played. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.
• Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects.
• Stalling is banned.

Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs must end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.

Set format (In Order of Procedure):
1. Opponents choose their characters for the first match *
2. Opponents start the stage striking procedure
3. Each player may announce one stage to be banned for counterpicks of the set
4. The first game is played, using the stage chosen during step 2
5. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter Stage List
6. The winner of the previous match chooses their character
7. The loser of the previous match chooses their character
8. Repeat steps 5-7 for all proceeding matches
*Double blind character selection may be called for the first match

Stage Lists

TOs must move stages from the starter/counterpick into either the starter or counterpick categories and must move stages from counterpick/banned into either the counterpick or banned categories.

Stages in the Starter/Counter and Counter/Banned list did not receive 2/3 majority, indicating no consensus could be reached on the stage.

The SBR Recommended rule list uses the stage striking system. In this system, players take turns striking stages from the starter list until only one remains; these stages are not banned and can be counterpicked later in the set. There must be an odd number of starter stages. There are up to 8 stages available for stages striking under the SBR stage list (4 in starter, 4 in starter/counter). We recommend as a TO that you decide on the ideal number of stages to use for striking at your tournaments (3, 5, 7).

Stage List:

[Neutrals]
Final Destination
Battlefield
Smashville
Yoshi's Island
Lylat Cruise

[Counters]
Castle Siege
Delfino Plaza
Brinstar
Pokemon Stadium 1
Frigate Orpheon
Rainbow Cruise
Jungle Japes
Halberd

Additional Rules for Doubles Play
• Life Stealing is allowed
• Set team attack to ON
• Hanenbow may be moved from Ban to Counterpick for Doubles

Count me in for 64 singles & doubles (any any other 64-related event, if we have time)

Also, can we have 64 on the Wii? I'm sick of crappy 64 pads. :/
