Smash-Related Injuries

My current record is four broken ribs and a bruise on my leg. I was hit by a car last week on the way to the computer lab, to see if I could get in a little Kaillera time. I've also jammed my trigger fingers because of my absolutely horrid controller and its trigger placement.

So, what are your worst Smash-related injuries?

Probably literally tripping in a brawl tournament...
Tripping needs to be banned in real life

Verbal abuse from my brother about how much better Brawl is, because I constantly destroyed him on n64 console.

it wasn't smash related but i played with a broken left hand for a few months and after it healed my z cancel consistency and other ATs improved a ton. it's like practicing running with a parachute.

Blsieters on the palm of my hand for trying out a new way of SLide DI, by rotating the joystick with my palm. Results were good but not worth the price of pain.

Yes, exactly. The frigging boo one where you cycle is the worst! ERGHH SO MANY BAND-AIDS.
the team mini game where you paddle the boat and try to push the other side against the shore was really intense if the balance was 3-1 and you were the 1. that one always broke the skin....

I wish Mario Party 1 would **** me.
There is so much sig material in this thread x]

Mine wasn't really an injury. Playing smash actually seems to ease the pain from injury for me. I screwed up my arm one time from Tennis, and every time I played games the pain seemed to magically disappear :]

I know what you mean. For my ribs, a good 0-to-death is better than any Tylenol.

Actually I just remembered I had a ~6 hour console session about a year and a half ago after I hadn't played any SSB (or any other N64 game, for that matter) for a couple of months. My thumb was like twice it's normal size afterward, and didn't feel or look right for a couple of days.

ROFL, I was also hit by a car, while playing Smash in the Daedalus emulator on my PSP. I was so excited about getting 25 fps that I didn't notice the truck. The guy was on his cell phone. My legs and my left arm were in casts for 7 weeks. Luckily my arm wasn't completely broken, so I was able to play through Fallouts 1-3. That was about a year ago, and my legs have never really been the same. On the bright side, I made some good contributions to the PSP hacking community while I was on bedrest. Vicodin is some pretty amazing coding inspiration.

I've lost some sleep over Smash (Curse you, Mewtwo, and your evil unlock method!), but that's pretty much it. Also, I agree with Z.e.n, this thread has loads of sig potential.

God **** this thread is too funny.

This might be considered property damage: My friend has thrown so many controllers after losing. Usually he hits the ground and they break, but once he lost to Ness and chucked it at his big screen tv.....yea

btw Wal-Marth, your posts are so ****in dumb yet so funny. I'm like "wtf?," then I laugh for 10 min. Comical genius I swear, don't ever stop.

Same as above, more property damage. I use to throw my controller a lot. smashed three tv's (one being 42 inches) in a week...

my worst smash injury? probably very dry skin on my thumb, since i play with DPAD. reminds me of playing street fighter 2/3 with DPAD, my thumb hurts alot after 15 minutes.

I got a seizure while playing melee at a Toys R US on those godawful demo stations with the TV and controller so close together they force you to stand 2 inches from the TV. It was my first time playing a game at 60 fps with so much rapid and fast 3d movement, so that helped as well.

Because of this, at the hospital they had found a growth in my head that I was able to take medicine to get rid of before it did any damage at all. Therefore, smash saved my life. >_>
