If you go to Vancouver and wanted to check out squamish and whistler (north of Vancouver awesome hiking/sight seeing) PM me and I can probably show you around and give you a place to stay for a day or two.
Awesome! I swear, after this trip I'm gonna be able to run marathons. =p If I get a hold of Silent Wolf, I'll definitely be stopping by.

This. There's a large and strong scene in BC and a lot of people can cover you for housing if you decide to come up! :D You could also visit Alberta if you want to play people closer to your level too. :awesome:

Toronto would also be amazing!
Sort of addresses both of you: I'll do what I can to get my hands on a passport since it seems I'm getting a bunch of support from Canada. =D I'll do what I can to weave in and out while visiting the northernmost US states.

Yeah you can for sure find housing in Toronto.

On another note, BC. You should come to February's monthly and or Impulse. Kage and few others from Quebec will be at the monthly and Impulse is a huge event. HIT IT UP. I want to see GTA vs. Canada <3

I love you for doing this(no homo)
and please do come to Canada, maybe hitch a ride with someone for Impulse.

Good luck man, make many vlogs and also, I'm not sure about other camcorders but mine plugs into my tv and records footage with really good quality. It's my brother's though, he bought it like 10 years ago fro making student films. If you want I could find out the type since he bought it like 10 years ago so it must be cheap now or else you can search something similar so you can record gameplay and footage of your trip. Also it uses SD cards and actual tapes and can dump footage from both on a computer.

If someone had told me that there was a guy doing something like this I never would've believe it. You better record your journey somehow and share some good stories because this is nothing short of awesome. Good luck yo

Also you must have the chillest parents ever LOL

If this happens this calendar year, I could definitely give you a couple nights place to stay and smash. I'm not super good, so you'd probably help me as much/more than I would help you, though. I'm in Indianapolis, IN, as well.

Considering my birthday has yet to roll around, if I don't necessarily get the camcorder specifically, I'm really hoping to get enough money to where I'll be able to purchase one at a reasonable price. Any and all suggestions are nothing short of welcome, so I'd very much appreciate details on anything cheap. :awesome:

Skill level is not a problem! Sure, my main initiative aside from meeting everyone is to play as many higher-leveled players as possible, but as I've said before: if there's a place that welcomes, you can expect me to be there. =] I'm also not that bad at relaying my thoughts and ideas as some other smashers have said is hard for them. And I'm always eager to spread smash knowledge in hopes of recruiting more dedicated players!

tl;dr LISTED! =D

LMAO Yeah, this is a little over the top, but I see no more efficient way to get well-acquainted with the community. Been so hyped for this lately, which I should probably be saving for the long stretches in between locations that it's looking like I'm going to have to tread...

There's no way I'd be able to john my way out of not recording this; it's a must! =D (There would be a lot of boring footage if it was the ENTIRE thing, but highlights seem more reasonable, especially since it looks to be a year's worth of video. @.@)

Oh, and my dad is far from chill, but it's pretty much been silently communicated that I'll be leaving the house soon after graduation anyhow, so this is just like an interlude of my living on my own back at home. =p

I you were doing Alberta/Ontario you would need some place to stay in between. Saskatoon can house you somewhere.
Still not officially settled on Canada yet, but I'm really hoping to go! Are you offering or do you just have an idea of someone who might be available? =o

All i'm saying is we could definitely get you a place. I don't know if I can personally guarantee you one, since I live with my parents, but someone else could. Worst case scenario is tent in a backyard and some food.

Have you done anything like this before?

I would recommend not doing this for your own safety, but of course you wont listen because you are a teenager and we all thought we were indestuctible and always right at that age...

Just a minor tip... The public will definitely treat you better if you dress well. You might even want to go as far as to pack some button-downs and khakis to make yourself look like a neat, blue-collar worker. That's the kind of person most people would feel comfortable helping rather than the raggedy street guy in a hoodie, you know?

I'm sure you can find tons of online tips and guides for this stuff, too. I hope for your sake you do tons of research and reading.

I don't think an 18 year old dude has to worry quite as much about the army of highway rapists as people are supposing he might. I'm not counseling incautious behavior, but... come on, lol.

Wow, just when I was sure I'd be having to dig up my thread, I find it's been getting pretty decent feedback. =D I'm again giving school johns for my inactivity, but it also appears we're moving out of our house as it gets remodeled, so I've been busy packing/cleaning a 50 y/o house as well. So no hard feelings? =3

I feel an urge to justify my mentality in doing this: I'm not doing it for the sheer brute-"I can do whatever I want" mindset. When I first thought this over, I was a little intimidated, tbh... Still sort of am.

I plan to do this going against my common sense because, after weighing my options, there's not much left I can do. I really want to get serious about this game while I still have time (before college, work, and other responsibilities tie me down). With the dead area I'm in, there's no way I can simply save up for major tournaments and hope everything goes well. I don't have anyone to play with for such ideals to be beneficial.

This is the window in my life where I've finished all that needs to be done before the next big step. If well prepared, I'll be able to set aside the next set of responsibilities for a little while and later get back to them. This implies I know they need to be done.

I need to get good--and fast--if I hope to continue this as a legitimate hobby after I'm in college and working, etc. And if the fastest way to get that accomplished is to travel to every smasher's house and practice, so be it. If I don't apply the time now and develop a rich talent for the game, there won't be much of a reason to bother heading to tournaments when I've got other things I'm doing.

TL;DR I really want to see where I end up after this trip is over. This has become sort of an end-all-be-all confirmation to whether I will put forth time later in life to this (in a time where I'd be juggling smash with other responsibilities). I'm not the kind of person who puts up with inconsistencies and wasted time: I'll commit fully or drop it. This project is the deciding factor.

Just a minor tip... The public will definitely treat you better if you dress well. You might even want to go as far as to pack some button-downs and khakis to make yourself look like a neat, blue-collar worker. That's actually pretty brilliant. Now I'll consciously be presenting myself in citizenry getup when hitching. Thanks! (I don't do khakis, but I'm a big fan of dress shirts. =p)

Researching has been on and off lately due to the multitude of crap going on, but I've been really looking into proper supplies--judging what stuff I'll really be needing--and techniques to make this trip easier.

enjoy the journey cuz thats gonna be the biggest part :p
Although I'm really looking forward to seeing results (or lack of; either way, I'll have my question answered), this dude knows what's up.

I'll offer you housing in richmond va. We have a pretty decent smash scene here.
Marked! =]

Everyone is concerned about you being *****. Bring a knife of some sort.
LMAO! The biggest concerns are usually relayed the most. =p Don't worry, I'll be well-prepared.

I don't think an 18 year old dude has to worry quite as much about the army of highway rapists as people are supposing he might. I'm not counseling incautious behavior, but... come on, lol.
This is also another stance that I've thoroughly considered. But when it comes to people who go about such questionable actions, you can't help but doubt their sanity. And even though it seems unlikely, it's always best to be cautious.

You are welcome to stay at my place in Dallas if you come through Texas. I have a pretty nice couch :3
YES! (Added.) =D

Even though I have an much better Falcon and Fox, I consciously main Yoshi. I want to push him to new heights. I'm sure many can say the same, such as AXE, Germ, Taj, Shroomed, and many others for their characters.

Don't underestimate the Yoshi. ;o

Always good to have this kind of motive, it's motive like this that always makes me happy to play this game and be a low tier player also. I hope you achieve greatness. :)

Blu, re-think teaming up with other people. It strains the housers. More people they feel obligated to feed, more space they need you to take up. More BO you'll release into one room, more bathroom trips during the night. More noise. Every CON that each of your personality types brings to the table will be what becomes a liability for the houser.

The more people you add to your group, the higher the chance you'll run across an undesirable type.

The type of person who sheds hair, the type of person with bad gas, the type of person who snores, the type of person who promises to bathe but when he gets into the shower doesn't really understand the whole process behind how to use soap and where it should be used and doesn't do it fast enough so the hot water's gone in 10 minutes and he just gets right out because he doesn't like being cold and he didn't manage to get under his armpits in time and he smells just as much like cheesy bike rust as he did before he got in, the type of person who has a short temper, the type of person with smelly feet, the type of person who makes everyone else including the houser uncomfortable because he's an unbalanced homosexual.

These are just some of the many examples of people you don't want in your house, and I only listed so many (comparatively few) to give you an idea of how much of a liability you become to housers when you tell them, "yeah, and i'll have 2 guys with me, is that okay?"

Legit I do snore, thats my flaw, I do shower quickly and wash everywhere, I wouldnt be expecting food though if someone is willing to feed me then jesus christ thank you :D
Oh and Cold showers dont bother me either, Im used to them because my before-work showers always have zero to little hot water.

Just thought I'd share that considering we were considering hooking up on my trip to SoCal. XD

Also King$$$$$.... LLMFAO WOW.
