I think she has a chance like how Rosalina got added after being a breakout character.

There are other options if it’s strictly main Mario: King Boo, Petey, and Kamek are sometimes mentioned. Koopa/Dry Bones, Shy Guy and Nabbit if it’s about choices that are considered less serious.

I still have think that Toad should be included at this point rather than just being a counter and throws. Also Waluigi.
It's interesting to compare Rosalina and Pauline. People will say Pauline is the new Rosalina, Rosalina was put in everything, so Pauline is put in everything so Smash will be next.

But there's important distinction. Rosalina got into Smash before she got into everything else. All she had to her name was the Galaxy titles, Mario Kart, and very recently a playable role in 3D World. (And a Mario Party cameo).

Rosalina wasn't in Mario Tennis Open, Mario Party 9, had to wait for DLC in Mario Golf World Tour. It wasn't until after Smash she appeared in Mario & Sonic. Wasn't in Super Sluggers massive roster.

It's admittedly a lower number of spinoffs. But Pauline was in Odyssey and then immediately started being put in things, Mario Kart Tour, Mario Tennis Aces, Mario Golf Super Rush, Mario Party Jamboree, even the tiny roster that was Mario Strikers. I think she only missed out on the first two switch Mario Parties and Mario & Sonic.

In some ways, Pauline is more comparable to Bowser Jr. Jr. appeared all over the place after his debut. It's probably because he made a perfect partner for Bowser.

Granted both Rosalina and Bowser Jr. made it into Smash in the same game, but I digress.

It's actually kind of super weird that there's no real discussion of having a Dynasty Warriors character in Smash despite how heavily associated the Warriors games have become to Nintendo, Even going as far back as the Wii.
I guess it's cause of the historical basis, Maybe the Smash team doesn't want to include characters based on The Romance Of The Three Kingdoms/Semi historical figures.
But like, Dracula is a boss.
Anyhow they could do like, Linkle.

Because Hayabusa is first among KT characters.

After he gets in, then people can discuss Musou.

It reminds me of Dragon Quest where there was almost no discussion until Hero was datamined. Mostly because most people were saying Geno, Black Mage, Sora and occasionally Cloud when Square Enix reps were being mentioned. Also Dragon Quest not being as popular in the west compared to Japan (becoming more popular nowadays).

I think we could get Hayabusa in the base game and Lu Bu as DLC. Companies have gotten multiple characters in a single Smash before so I think it’s totally possible. The Warriors franchise has pretty strong ties to Nintendo now that there have been two Fire Emblem Warriors and three Zelda Warriors. Many of their other games have been on Nintendo platforms too. Dynasty Warriors specific as on has historically had closer ties to Sony but I think Lu Bu is pretty much the face of the Warriors series as a whole. He’d be awesome in Smash and have a really unique moveset.

Not that I necessarily believe this would affect the odds of a DW character getting in Smash, but I'd be curious to see how much crossover there is with Switch players when it comes to the Zelda/Fire Emblem Warriors games vs those of the mainline variety. I think many definitely love the format when applied to series they're invested in and may be a bit more lukewarm when it's that same genre without the characters/settings they know.

Basically, would there be a decent amount of Hyrule/Fire Emblem Warriors fans confused at seeing a major Dynasty Warriors fighter revealed for Smash 6?

I mean, Dynasty warriors has already crossed over with about four of the franchises present in Smash. So i guess on a technicality we do already have some representation.

Although I think the spirits for Age of Calamity and P5: Strikers are the only direct references.

Not sure why there wasn’t anything for the base game. Maybe the artwork is owned by KT?

One thing I’m curious about is how they’d translate the combat system of Warriors to Smash. For those that don’t know, Warriors combat involves chaining a string of normals in a combo and using the special as a combo ender. Depending on when in the combo you choose to use the special, the character performs a different combo ender. Different characters have variations on this but that’s the basic idea. I think Lu Bu could have standard Smash style directional specials if he performs the special first but it could switch to Musou style if you press the special during a combo. The tricky part is balancing it so it’s not completely overpowered but I think the general concept could be really cool. For the directional standalone specials, Lu Bu has a lot of new great attacks to pull from in DW Origins that are really flashy and exciting.

What final smashes you guys would like to be changed or updated in the next smash game?

Depending on the way the next smash game is made there is potential for some really cool ones specially with the power of the switch 2.

Oh I don't think we need to translate it directly. we can have a simple enough moveset

:ultmario: can have the Super Star as a Final Smash (like the Mario Movie). It would go well with a more vibrant Mario.

I’d personally love to see :ultpyra::ultmythra: get Pneuma as a Final Smash, even if it’s over 100% damage only.

Even tho that Mario one works is a bit to simplistic in my opinion.

The pneuma idea is good tho I imagine it probably be this one specifically with the mech.

I want Giga Bowser to be replaced with Fury Bowser

Giga Bowser can still be a boss, but Fury Bowser is just too damn cool.

Zelda, Peach and Daisy just have broken FSs. Zelda's is too strong and Peach and Daisy is too strong AND ruins the flow of the match.

Mario and Bowser's FSs should be replaced with Giga Cat Mario and Fury Bowser.

I usually kinda ignore Final Smashes since I don't generally play with items, and don't like Final Smash meter, but thinking about it, Mario and Donkey Kong's could be more inspired (others too, but I just want to focus on these two for the moment).

Mario's is a tough nut to crack because none of the more obvious options really work; Super Star is an item, Mega Mushroom is kind of a weird pick and the Mushroom already does the same thing anyway, Giga Bell and the assist mode items are dated picks, etc. I don't think a Mega Legends style super is appropriate either since Mario isn't a character focused on celebrating his legacy, and also the other Marios aren't separate characters like the Mega Man and Dragon Quest Heroes are. I genuinely can't think of an idea that wouldn't be lame, or become dated almost immediately.

Donkey Kong on the other hand, I kind of like the idea of using the ending of Donkey Kong Country returns as the Final Smash. DK gets into a giant explosive barrel cannon that launches him skyward. A brief cutscene plays of him punching the moon, which then plummets through the stage after a brief moment that allows you to determine where the moon lands. The moon passes through all terrain before exploding at the bottom of the screen so it's not worthless on tall stages, and the initial cannon blast can K.O. opponents as well (though the moon is much better at doing this). I was thinking of making it like The Moon's assist trophy, but it doesn't work on certain stages due to the background being a wall or something of the sort, so unfortunately we can't do that.

It's kinda weird to me because it is good, but it's also nothing special, and you feel like you could replace it with something cooler or more interesting. However when you actually try to do that you quickly find that you kinda can't.
That works out because Mario is meant to be the simple nothing special character in these games, the Ryu if you will.

Hot take, Mario's Final Smash shouldn't be replaced. The idea is perfectly fine, and easily understandable enough for a fighter like him; it just needs a bit more flash to match up with more current Final Smashes.

I thought it was cool as a kid because it looked like a Fire Kamehameha, so I'd say lean into that more, make it a bit more explosive, maybe make the screen flash more, and it's good to go I'd say.

...And make it actually work too lmao

Well, simple doesn't have to mean boring, but I do like SubspaceJigglypuff SubspaceJigglypuff 's idea of just adding more flair to it.

Actually come to think of it, Super Smash Flash 2 originally had his Final Smash be turning into Fire Mario, giving him fiery normals and a chargeable fireball that became Mario Finale at full charge. That's probably the extra oomph that it needs, especially since it now ties the Final Smash back into the source material, the lack which is what I think it probably what makes Mario Finale seem off in the first place.

I still want to see a MySims stage or something in Smash. I was thinking it’d have various MySims in the background to cheer on the fighters, much like both competitive Animal Crossing stages, but every playable fighter would be sorted into one of the original game’s six Interests (Cute, Fun, Geeky, Studious, Spooky, Tasty) and corresponding Sims would cheer them on when they’re being played as.

They could also steal the K.K. Slider gimmick from the Animal Crossing stages and have DJ Candy spin records in the background at specific times.

I'd like Pit to go back to Three Sacred Treasures, give Lightning Chariot to Dark Pit if you must. Not only is it just cooler, but the Lightning Chariot was confirmed to be in possession of Viridi's army where Dark Pit was also said to be aligned in his Palutena's Guidance. All that trouble making a new final smash and giving it to the wrong character, it has me scratching my head since... yknow, Sakurai is the one who made all this up in the first place.

Otherwise uhhh... well, not a change outright, but since Samus' Zero Laser has an applicable 'canon' equivalent in Metroid Dread I'd like if they made it more visually similar to that. Which would mostly just constitute making it red. I'm not a stickler for that kind of canon stuff, I really don't mind Giga Bowser remaining Bowser's Final Smash for example, but I don't think Zero Laser is exciting enough not to be flexible to this sort of thing.

Meta Knight's is sorta lame too, change it back. I know I just said I don't care about canon, but I also think it's the funniest / weirdest thing ever that Galaxia Darkness was made canon in Robobot and promptly abandoned right after the fact. Rapid aerial flurry attacks just don't hit the same the tenth time around.

I want Jokers final smash to be visually updated to include the team members added in Persona 5's sequel games

Definitely Toon Link since Triforce Slash is too generic. Probably make it revolve around the Wind Waker or the King of Red Lions.

Samus should keep her current Final Smash but probably some aesthetic changes to make it like the Hyper Beam in Dread which was based on the Zero Laser according to its file name.

One thing I liked about Mario's Final Smash is how it felt like the logic was "Mario's neutral special is a fireball, so his big super move is big fireball". Same thing with Samus--it felt like an upgrade.

...That line of thinking falls apart when you look at literally any other FS in the game, but I thought it was nice.

Speaking of Final Smashes, what if they gave Miis a choice of Final Smashes

I always thought that's where it came from anyway.
I think it was created just to show off Final Smashes in the first trailer but it is possible that it took some inspiration from it since there are references to Mario RPG like Peach having a frying pan and her final smash causing characters to sleep which something from that game.

I think I’ve tossed around the ideas for “super smashes” as distinct from the fancy cinema final smashes. It could be neat to have the supers be upgraded versions of the specials and preserve that connection

Also if we follow the trend of Pit getting a new final smash each game another option is the Grand secret treasure.

Would be specially cool if we bring back some of the controllable final smashes and this is one of those ones you can control for a while.

I really like Daisy's since it fits her flower motif she's had before. It just happened to work out perfectly as a reskin(also, eating daisies is healthy~).

Peach's however should be the one changed. She has a lot more games to take from now for inspiration.

This is the new version of my personal roster, I’m trying to improve on it based on the feedback from last time, I have a few notes.
Bandanna Waddle Dee and Regular Waddle Dee are sharing a slot, The moveset would be appropriate for Bandanna.
All the Mii types have been moved into just one mii slot which would have all of their moves as options.
There are more characters (Both returning and new) that I wanted to include but I’m pushing off into hypothetical dlc because it’s already getting pretty big.
Reminder I didn’t cut anyone in favor of any of the echoes, Im not counting them in the overall number they’re bonuses.
Does it still need more work?

I think they should be more different from each other in general since lot of them are the same archetype such as copying Captain Falcon’s Final Smash.

Who is the character after Megaman?

Seeing Falco gone is weird but that’s only because he has been in the series since Melee.

The character after Mega Man is the Onion Knight which is my Final Fantasy pick, I made a Youtube video about why I think it's a particularly good choice (Switching between classes) but he is kind of obscure.

I 100% wanted to keep Falco, He was a very late cut and I would try to get him back in as hypothetical DLC.

You know, Thegameandwatch, it‘s also pretty sad to see that Falco is gone. He was usually my second-best main in Smash, and I am just sad to see that he could and would be gone. I just hope he would come back anytime soon. Thanks for listening. :)
