You know? If Candy Kong is in the roster this would be her first time as a playable character since she was created.

The problem with games overall is there's few female main characters, even less that don't exploit sex appeal.

Dixie Kong is actually a damn good female protagonist as she's the one who invited herself of Diddy's Quest and went to save the DKs in DKC3. She's also the better character from gameplay perspective but I suspect that's more to do with balance issues. Her character flaws (being an irresponsible babysitter) have nothing to do with her gender.

TL;DR Dixie is great character 2 X chromosomes or not.

It's true though.

Vertigo from Primal Rage is arguably the best female in gaming that doesn't rely on the same restrictive stereotypes as every other playable female or so. Get mad, get primal RAGED!

Hm, actually, I guess Dixie might be another one of those fine examples/exceptions along with Vertigo.

I think we are going a bit off-topic but...
How about Mitsuko from Bloody Roar? Middle age woman that turns into a boar.

http://images.wikia.com/bloodyroar/images/2/26/MitsukoDesignBR.jpg
http://authordustinweber.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/br2-reboot-11-mitsuko1.jpg

But both them lasted one game only, and few people reminds that Vertigo is a girl because of her lack of evident female features, like a Nintendo character that was the protagonist of her own game.
I'm speaking of... Bubbles!

But if she is in the game then the fans would scream "Aww! Why her and not Pacman?". And if Pacman is in the game too they would scream:"Kirby, Jigglypuff, Pacman and this thing? Is Sakurai in love with spheric characters?".

you're not using the trope right. Positive discrimination refers to a token character being perfect and not making mistakes, while the rest of the team or cast does. It says the definition of the trope in the first line.

And what we are arguing for isn't sexism either. We aren't arguing for prejudicial treatment for male characters or even discriminating towards male characters; just for more female characters that are worthy candidates just like their male counterparts. Not female for the sake of being female, but females that have strong contributed to Nintendo's history.

It's like if I wanted more female senators in the US Senate. I'm not arguing for just any candidate; I want strong candidates with government or executive experience and that will be able to legislate. It's out of select pool of worthy candidates.

Some Fire Emblem women don't rely on restrictive stereotypes for example Titania, Meg, Nailah, Vaida, Echidna, Niime, Dorothy, Minerva, Sully, Kjelle, Lucina, and more.

Among the Nintendo females there's Dixie like you mentioned, Bubbles like somebody previously mentioned, and i'd also list the protagonist from Drill Dozer.

Then this whole thread is sexist.

This site, the Internet, the human species and existence itself is sexist. Unless you're an entity that reproduces asexually.

That said, I really don't think I have to say why I'd like the cast to stop being such a sausagefest. Of course, when I put it bluntly like that, the only thing that seems to come to peoples' mind is a curvy damsel in distress with pretty hair, a nice pair of mammary glands and quirky estrogen-laden characteristics. Truth be told, I want more genderless/gender-neutral characters than anything. <3 Mewtwo and R.O.B.

Meh! I Think Wii Fit Trainer fits none of the characteristic you mentioned, but she's cool and strong, like... You know, Applejack and Rainbow Dash.

Everything can be made to fit those characteristics by male-supremacists and fanboys.

Case in point: the new WFT and people flipping out over the new Mewtwo having a female voice actor/not being manly anymore.

Yes, even that Vertigo example Prime posted isn't safe. I've looked hard enough, and it exists.

So far, the current female characters in the roster are Samus Aran, Wii Fit Trainer & Peach. I think Zelda is very likely to return too.

I still think Palutena is likely to be in there too.

I guess so. Rule 34 does not make exceptions. Males and genderless included. So what's the point to care about that? If something exist there is porn of it, deal with it!

I kinda made myself forget about that new Wii-Fit Trainer the first time, but I guess someone would remind me of its existence here. >.> At least that's not the version in SSB4 though, but if they go with that new version of WFT in SSB5 or 6... *shakes fist* The female Mewtwo I actually welcomed on the other hand, though it was kinda stereotypical for her to have a megalution that was all cutesie and smaller and stuff.

As for Vertigo, aside from a place like rule 34 where content of even her will obviously exist there, I feel my posted example remains safe, unless the creators of Vertigo/Primal Rage made a version where she has big dino-boobs or was put in a situation where she had to be saved by some strong male T-Rex or somethin that I wasn't aware of.

Yes probably Zelda will come back, maybe Palutena could have her chance, I would like to see Lyn in the roster, Daisy must be part of Peach's customize. Dixie Kong is another character I really like, finally Rosalinda use to be one of the most wanted characters from many fans, she is not part of my options but is another female newcomer

Captain Syrup should be in the game, because the game needs more villains, it needs more women, it needs more Wario Land representation, and she's a super unique character with a lot of moveset potential. I know it probably won't happen, but goddamn it, it should.

I think you are right. Plus she has already two color schemes to play with.

Incidentally Smash Bros is the first time that Zelda (what the *** is a CDi), Sheik and WiiFit Trainer were playable so that doesn't hurt, for example, Palutena's chances any.

Let me play this card again:

Wherever her sex appeal is genuine or just satirical (cliched and exagerated) I think she's just perfect.

I was just thinking...There might be a possibility of Purin being female. I'm talking about the headwear/pallete swaps.

Jigglypuff gender ratio:

25% male, 75% female

Add the alternate costumes (female trainer's hat, bow, princess crown etc) to that percentage, then it's 99% certain that Jigglypuff is female (yet people still insist on calling her a 'he').

I just consider all pokemon as neutral, due to the way they are described in their trophies. It seems to me that was the developer's intention.

I agree that they shouldn't include females for the sake of adding more females, like it was said before King K. Rool seems more interesting than Dixie and Bowser Jr. than Daisy (who i hate BTW), and yes Peach, Zelda and Samus are there because they are significant in Nintendo's history and i also think Jigglypuff is female.
Even Crystal is always added in lists cause of her being female, I'm guilty for that too (even though i prefer Falco and Wolf over her).

Now as females characters who are significant and not just filler (yes I'm talking about you Daisy) and could be added to SSB WiiU/3DS.
Dixie Kong besides what I said before she mean well in the DK series.
Lyn I'm surprise she wasn't included in Brawl and being an assist trophy (and her voice) was a slap in the face for me.
Palutena and Rosalina have also some chance but to be honest i don't really care if there in the game or not although Palutena could a unique moveset as for Rosalina eh... not so sure .
Paula OK this one a personal choice becuase i really love this character also Ness and Lucas seem to use her moves like PSI Magnet, PK Thunder and PK Fire.

Another option could be Midna since she has a lot of fans and because of her character, however she has only appear in one game.

If Smash bros had to have a female villain Captain Syrup is easily the first that springs to mind.

I'd prefer Medusa honestly.

I'd also prefer Medusa. And Ashley over Syrup. Above all, I'd like Dark Samus (who is technically a she), but in addition to Ridley.

All of those feel like pipe dreams now, honestly.
