Tbh this Direct is probably happening because Nintendo doesn't want to have another major Direct before E3, so they're throwing out a fair amount of info for the two remaining triple-A games that are currently known (SSB4 and MK8 - remember all the info released for it last week, strange it wasn't in a Direct given how Nintendo does things nowadays).

I can't complain too much though, I'd much rather just have a Smash Direct than another Direct where they only restate what we already know and show basically no new games.

I understand you like Mii and yeah they are important for Nintendo.

But this is fighting game.

You need to have skills to be fighter.

Villager has axe. WFT is fit. Pokémon Trainer is actually NOT the "fighter".

Miis have absolutely less than nothing.
Everyone can be a fighter when it comes to Smash. Don't doubt the creativity of the man who made a malfunctional toy into a laser shooting robot.

I feel quite lucky to have the Direct show at 5pm, considering I am located in the central time zone. I can deal with school just fine and still not miss anything.
The Direct airs at midnight for me. I've become sick as **** though, so unless the Direct happens to cure me I'm missing out on school regardless.

Hey, now. Let's not start this up again.
*Starting it up again*
What will they even do for Multi-Man? I think Miis are the best option. Not just random pre-installed Miis, but using the same system as most of the games that have them, consisting of preset Miis, your own Miis and ones taken from online. I didn't really like Alloys, but having something that is expressionless as you punch it is not nearly as fun as something that cringes. *Gets hauled off to asylum* Not to mention the noises they made in Mario Kart.

Oh wow, I didn't even know about the Facebook page. Nintendo is trying to get as much attention on this Direct as possible. This is either going to live up to the fantasies of the community, or this is going to be an epic train crash.
It'd be pretty hard for them to drop the ball with this. Megaman and Little Mac's reveals topped Twitters' trending for days afterwards and those were just two minute trailers. They've got at least 20 minutes entirely devoted to Smash to drop at least one bombshell. They could have Sakurai doing armpit farts to the tune of the Brawl main theme for 19 of those minutes and then have him say "oh yeah, Mewtwo/Ridley's in the game" and throw a handful of confetti in the air before abruptly fading to black and the minds of Smash fans around the world would be effectively and sufficiently blown for at least a week afterwards.

How some of you were able to stay perpetually hyped through the whole weekend is beyond me. Did some of you even sleep this weekend? Good lord... on the topic of the Direct, we should get an confirmation of the length of the Direct sometime tonight if it's anything like past Directs.
Because my streak hype is real!!!

So far for each newcomer reveal, my #3 was confirmed; first Mega Man; then Rosalina; then, 2 months ago, Little Mac!

This time, the #3 (I did my April and E3 list before I realized this, so the streak is safe from me jinxing it; however, the 'Taker's ended streak may cause voodoo to it) pick of mine is K. Rool. Also, Sakurai is hinting at Ridley and Palutena left with Little Mac and Mega Man (the other 2 top 5 most wanted potential newcomers) already confirmed.

Those are the 3 most wanted potential newcomers among smash fans. That's a lot to be hyped for, especially since if my streak continues being right about newcomers and K. Rool is confirmed, Ridley is my #3 at E3, and Palutena is my #4 if Ridley is also confirmed (which would thus make her my new #3). ;)

I think the hype is literally killing me.

I've been sitting here half asleep watching the seconds go down on this countdown for like 10 minutes.

I just realised we will go well beyond 100 pages before the direct airs...

The hype is quite intense. I can just imagine how slow tommorrow is going to pass for us all. Now, I don't hang around many other gaming communitys or sites (apart from reddit). So I was wondering, is this getting any coverage or generating any hype elsewhere? Or is it just driving us fanatics wild? ^^
Do what im gonna do smoke all night while playing pokemon X online go to bed at 3PM

Wake up between 1-3PM

Have breakfast which is this

How likely is it that Mii is the only Newcomer revealed tomorrow? The Direct would be the perfect time to explain how they work...

I need someone to convince me that only getting Mii is a complete impossibility.

Aw, don't smoke. D: It's not good for ya. No wonder you have to wear that mask all the time.

Anyways, the Direct will be at Midnight for me, but I will Watch it live, as I have nothing to go up for the next day. :) Should be good. They are certanly hyping this Direct more than pretty much ANY other Direct. They better have something BIG to show.

It's nice to see Nintendo making seperate social media pages for Smash Bros., for the first time in forever Nintendo is doing some really legitimate advertising. Then again, Smash Bros being one of Nintendo's biggest hype titles ever that should only be natural.
I told you guys before, my source, a fellow Smash Boards member, has told me and others that the MARKETING BUDGET ALONE FOR BOTH GAMES IS EITHER 22.5 or 23.5 MILLION US DOLLARS!!!

(this same source was the only one to know the hidden DK stage in Brawl was 75M btw, so I know they're legit, but they don't have developer insider sources, so don't ask about those)

With all the 1080p trailers, the 1080p 60 fps gameplay (aka something the X1 can't do), social media awareness, Miiverse coverage, and all that jazz, it seems inevitable that this will be a colossus game for the WiiU, much like what Melee was for the GameCube, except this time, the marketing won't suck and it will be big time marketing.

You know what else that means=??? Crap's going down tomorrow. We're getting multiple veterans and 1, maybe 2, newcomers confirmed, plus gameplay for both games, plus game modes, but loads of other crazy stuff.

In other words, BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! Because a lot of it will be confirmed here, and a lot of it will hint at the hype at E3, which will top this tenfold.

Let the idea of Palutena being revealed fill your mind, until you think she's the only newcomer who can be revealed.

That's what I'm doing! :D

No, they are advertised as two different versions of the same game. The difference between the two is mainly in the wild Pokémon, and the entire gimmick of Pokémon is to trade with friends that have the version you don't have. Buying both is not necessary, as the experience is the same.

However, Smash Wii U and 3DS, while based on the same template, are still two different games with very different design philosophies, taking advantage of two different systems. You are encouraged to buy both.
Well you are mostly correct but in that sense SM4SH has two different versions, and advertized both as the 4th Smash game. In my eyes, they are the same games disc wise, but differ with content.

Okay, fine... you're technically right... Sakurai technically counts these games as Smash 4 and 5 despite (like the Pokemon games) the differences between them are minor. I'd argue that they'd devote more time to explaining each one because the 3DS seems to have more focus on single player while the Wii U one seems to have more focus on multiplayer.

Palutena would be really cool and all, and about 100x better than Miis, but Ridley tho

If Ridley is revealed I will shed a single tear.

Was there really any doubt we would be getting a new character tomorrow? Can't help but shake the feeling this next reveal is going to be a big one.
The only way we don't get a newcomer tomorrow is if we get like a dozen veterans confirmed, which would have to include Mewtwo and Snake.

Regardless, I feel we will either get Mewtwo or Snake tomorrow, as well as 2 or 3 more veterans and a newcomer (maybe 2 if one of them is the Miis).

Overall, I just wonder how much of the stuff will be "hey, wait until E3; that will be the realest hype", because the buildup for that will be incredible.

Nope. But now there is more hope for multiple reveals.
Not sure how that will work since Sakurai seems adamant on giving each character their own trailer. Perhaps create one large trailer revealing a couple of new characters, then supplement their pages with their personal trailers? Or just string together multiple trailers Marvel vs. Capcom style? I want cohesion, dangit!

Personally, after this, I don't see Nintendo focusing too much of their time on Smash beyond showroom floor demos and another character reveal. They'll probably want to focus on their QoL platform and other games we don't know yet.

Almost the same here. I get off work an hour before the direct, but it takes me over an hour to get home....guess who's not leaving his job's wifi until the direct is over?

My hype was way too strong for me at school today. I was completely distracted and had several mistakes come up. I'm sure I would've done better if the Direct wasn't announced. At least I had no tests today or tomorrow; that would be disasteros. Now if you excuse me, I have to finish my book report because I completely forgot to finish a part of it yesterday due to hype. <_<

Ridley is my #1 (duh) and Palutena my #2. My dream Direct would be to get both. I'm awaiting tomorrow's PotD with both excitement and trepidation because I really want it to be either another Ridley hint, or a Palutena hint.

Still though, imagine the meltdowns if all we get Newcomer-wise is Mii, and we get like 15 minutes out of 25 devoted to them.

I don't know if you guys noticed, but the official Nintendo SSB page for facebook which hadn't updated since E3, yes had not had a single update since E3, all of a sudden gave out a burst of updates just today. They added Rosalina and Little Mac trailers and artworks (which weren't added) and added all of the other confirmed veterans and are adding miiverse pics such as Pikachu on top of DK or Luigi's nose every couple of minutes.

There is no new info on the facebook page but the most important information is this: Why start upating today?

I have a big feeling tomorrow is going to be huge (Smash Brothers also opened its official twitter last friday). The game is much closer to release than many people expect.

Thanks, I'm used to it now, it's only really bad about once a year, but breathing treatments at the doctor usually cleans it up pretty nicely, and I will only be bad for a week. Now I just need to worry about tendinitis, but it's just pain, and I can handle pain :)

Personally hoping , but not expecting, Isaac to be revealed.

Realistically speaking, I would expect Palutena, a FE13 character and/or Takamaru.

That's quite a lot of money. Then again, it's worth investing that much money on Smash, since it easily racks it back in no time, especially if we count in the inevitable Wii U sales too.

Things sure are shaping up to be big with this Direct, I'm not really sure what to expect anymore. I'm afraid of expecting too much, so I'm just going to try and go in with the expectation that we'll see a newcomer and a lot of gameplay, I can only be happily surprised from there on out.

If Ridley is revealed I will shed a single tear.
A single tear? If Ridley is revealed I will cry out all of my body fluids. That's bound to be a nasty mess.

Ridley is my Nr.1 as well, so I have hope for him tomorrow. But realistically, I expect Palutena, tbh.
