Brawler610:
Oh wow! Mario Galaxy already? I'll get a list up by tomorrow.
EDIT: I LIED!
1.
Good Egg Galaxy (SMG)
On the topic of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, this is the first song that pops into my head. It's an amazing track that pulls you into the atmosphere and world of Super Mario Galaxy. I can't leave this one out.
2.
Gusty Garden Galaxy (SMG)
Leaving this track out is simply wrong! This is arguably the most popular track in the Galaxy games.
3.
Sky Station Galaxy 1 (SMG2)
There are two themes for the two different levels in Sky Station Galaxy. This one is the one that was often used in Galaxy 2's trailers. Was anyone else upset when they cut a part of the song out in the final game?
4.
Buoy Base Galaxy (SMG)
The Galaxy soundtrack had its fair share of tense and action packed tracks. This song is a perfect example. The song was only used in one stage and it was used so effectively. It's so mysterious, yet adventurous! Such are the worlds of Super Mario Galaxy. Heck, this song and level left such an impact that the area itself was re-used in Galaxy 2!
5.
Puzzle Plank Galaxy (SMG2)
This track fits really well with the level it's used for. It's also one of the more popular tracks from Galaxy 2.
6.
Purple Coins (SMG)
Yes, it has a section of Gusty Garden's music. I know. But, this song is amazing. Even when you raged at how hard some of those Purple Coin missions were (stares intently at Dreadnaught's Purple Coins), you have to admit how fantastic this track is. It's very tense and very action packed, much like Smash Bros. I don't have any issue putting Gusty Garden and Purple Coins in the same list when Brawl finds it acceptable to put some of the same songs twice on its soundtrack.
7.
Rainbow Road (Mario Kart Wii)
I think that when it comes to Super Mario Galaxy, how can you NOT think of the Rainbow Road theme? While there are many versions that I could have used, this one is the best in my opinion and I feel as though it fits in with the stage the best. It's just absolutely beautiful.
Oh boy… the last one...
8.
Bowser's Battle Theme/Nemesis King Bowser/Bowser, The Great Koopa King/King Bowser(SMG)
YEAH! I'M PUTTING IN BOWSER'S THEME FROM GALAXY 1! SUE ME!
I mean, LOOK AT BOWSER IN SSB4!
I would be heavily disappointed if this track wasn't used! It's the perfect song for Bowser! But why on this stage? Well, it fits in the stage in my opinion! Imagine you are fighting a tough opponent on this stage and THIS comes on! It would be epic! It's atmospheric, tense, and it gets your adrenaline going when you fight! It is also one of the most popular tracks from Super Mario Galaxy; I would be HEAVILY surprised if this wasn't in the game in some form.
That's my list. I would put in Bowser's Galaxy Generator due to how popular it is, but I can't fit it in here. I was also going to put in the Airship theme, but I'll save that one for the LM: DM stage. I didn't put in Toy Time intentionally because I bet Mario will have a second stage in the Wii U version that will have the Mario theme. I did not put in SM3DW songs as I find that game to be too new to have any content in SSB4. If it wasn't, then I would have definitely put in the Overworld theme and especially the Hisstocrat boss music.

I excluded SMG2's Final Bowser theme & SMG's Credits theme to provide a more varied list. Also, I hope you all don't mind that I mostly went for music from the Galaxy games. I feel like Mario will get enough stages for plenty of songs from other Mario sub-series to find nice homes.

Link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YmswPJei0g&list=SP706D99B420CA57E6
Reason: This area plays a major role in the game, as it is the way you travel from galaxy to galaxy. I also find this tune to be quite catchy.
Note: This is
not a melody
Name: Good Egg Galaxy
Game: Super Mario Galaxy
Franchise: Mario
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy8Sn6DHIi0&list=SP7CFEF478E3980B62
Reason: This is the first level in Super Mario Galaxy. The music on it is kind of odd, but that gives it some variety. I also thought it would be necessary to add in at least
one galaxy theme.
Name: Final Bowser Battle
Game: Super Mario Galaxy
Franchise: Mario
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv4oRt79AP0&list=SP7CFEF478E3980B62
Reason: This is one of the most popular Super Mario Galaxy themes, if not
the most popular. It is extremely dramatic and that makes it perfect for a fight.
Name: Main Theme (Super Mario 64)
Game: Super Mario 64 (Super Smash Bros. Brawl Version)
Franchise: Mario
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNLqr0TwYw8
Reason: This is an extremely recognizable theme from an extremely popular game. This also is probably to be the song that brings in the most variety.

Name: Main Theme (Mario Party 9)
Game: Mario Party 9
Franchise: Mario
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo_ML8cgsfM
Reason: This song was actually extremely hard to pick and it was the last one added. Even though I already have two main themes this one just fits the stage so good. The theme is peaceful, and it is just what I want from a piece of Mario music.
Name: Dark Bowser
Game: Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s inside story.
Franchise: Mario
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBLp-3Rw_u0
Reason: This is probably the second most popular piece of Mario music ever. That alone is a good enough reason, I mean second most popular of the biggest video game series to date? You can’t get much better than that. But that isn’t all that got this theme on to my list. I also felt like the Mario & Luigi games should get at least one track in the game, and it went along with the stage great.
Name: Rainbow Road
Game: Mario Kart 7
Franchise: Mario
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQl4TRN9WqU
Reason: Ah, Rainbow Road. This area has been a staple of Mario Kart ever since the first game. This track fits well with the stage as well as adding a little diversity and popularity into my selections.
APC99:
You have no idea how long this took. I mean, Super Mario Galaxy, alongside Mother 3, Kirby Super Star and Mega Man 2 (STILL waiting, Swampy...
), is probably my favorite game of all time. Just, everything about it is SO right. I prefer it to any other Mario game, hell, even Smash Bros. isn't as addicting to me as this masterpiece of a game. I put a lot of love into this list to try to make it perfect. Also, adding some other songs in there for good measure, all are from home consoles, no handhelds, so, ENJOY!
Name: The Purple Comet
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gznjNv4KMqY
Reasoning: It sounds cool, and seems fitting enough. Plus, dat boopity a$$ music is perfect for some fun with gravity.
Name: Castle Theme
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii, 2009)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2073iFede4w
Reasoning: This is my favorite track in the not-so-new Super Mario Bros. Wii, and New Super Mario Bros. 2... and New Super Mario Bros. U. Yeah, they overuse this track. Yet, nobody complains about how every track in Super Mario World and Luigi’s Mansion are remixes of the same song! I still love their soundtracks anyway, and this is my dark ominous theme choice for the Mario Galaxy stage. It’s just so... interesting to me, I get a lot of flashbacks to World’s castle theme as well.
Name: 3D World Overworld
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U, 2013)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI8slLrX0kA
Reasoning: It’s 3D World, one of the greatest additions to the Wii U so far! Hoping to get it for Christmas! Anyway, this song feels perfectly fine in the space environment, although maybe not at first... Hey, if the New Super Mario Bros. Theme fits into Delfino Plaza, this fits into Mario Galaxy, gosh darn it!
Name: Good Egg Galaxy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy8Sn6DHIi0
Reasoning: It’s the level you begin on, as well as the actual location on the stage, so it’s an instant add on my list!
Name: Throwback Galaxy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRLBCjVCREk
Reasoning: OK, if you want to get technical, this is my way of ensuring Bob-Omb Battlefield from Super Mario 64 returns to the Smash arena. Besides, it’s a great remix, and I’m sure that any die-hard Mario fan would agree that it should return.
Name: Rainbow Road
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Mario Kart Wii (Wii, 2008)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ho8pUWvC6s
Reasoning: The sacrifices I make to ensure that it’s mostly the Wii titles... I originally had Double Dash’s version of the classic track, but eventually, I decided against it to keep it in the Wii era for most of the tracks on the stage.
Name: Sky Station Galaxy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTht2pC-9AA
Reasoning: I’ve got to have at least one good Galaxy 2 track! Although I’ve only played the original, I’m sure this one has some pretty nice music to it as well, and this track seems to be the Gusty Garden of the sequel. Speaking of...
Name: Gusty Garden Galaxy
Series: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcZhJDUFb58
Reasoning: This is how you make a freaking video game soundtrack. This music sums up everything right with Super Mario Galaxy within the first few seconds. The adventure, the freedom, the story, the passion, the beauty of this game, my favorite game of all time. If Sakurai forgets this song, it’s seriously going to cause some backlash. Forget my generation’s stupid Grand Theft Auto 5 and Call of Duty: Ghosts, THIS is a masterpiece. This is art, not violence.
RavenKingSage:
All right! I'll get mine in ASAP this time.
Notes: Only half of these tracks are from the Galaxy games, with the others represented being Mario Kart, Mario 64, and the Mario & Luigi RPGs. I think that music from Sunshine, 3D Land/World, Luigi's Mansion, and the 2D platformers would fit better in other Mario stages. (As well as other MK/64/RPG tracks.) The trick here was to find songs that fit a Galaxy stage without overloading on Galaxy tracks,
and having a wide range of tones,
and picking popular tracks. Yeah, I'm pretty much going for high scores in all categories. Anyway...
Name: Purple Coins
From: Super Mario Galaxy
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxqXnLx8qDQ
Reason: One of the most popular pieces to come out of a Mario game. Its fast pace and tone make it fit perfectly for fighting, and it fits best in the Galaxy stage.
Name: Gusty Garden Galaxy
From: Super Mario Galaxy
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEIWhy-urqM
Reason: Another popular piece that fits perfectly. It's true that this has a similar melody to Purple Coins, but the tone is vastly different. Whereas the former is more tight and fast, this is more like a sweet melody. You'll find that my selections stem from variety in the atmospheres that I want to give the player. Freedom for the win~
Name: Battlerock Galaxy
From: Super Mario Galaxy
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYhmHovdBxY
Reason: This theme is low-key, moderately paced, and pure epic. It's popular and fits the stage. Not much else to say.
Name: Melty Monster Galaxy
From: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UYXABAC06s
Reason: The most in-your-face of my selections with its immense brass tone. You might say it would fit better in a Bowser Castle stage, but if someone wants a more intimidating theme to go with a fight on the Galaxy stage, they've got it. Its pace saves it from being out of place.
Name: Rainbow Cruise
From: Super Mario 64
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=RniFX_iphuo
Reason: A returning track from Melee. It's popular, iconic, and fits well in a fight. I think it would work better in a Galaxy stage than any other new Mario stage.
Name: Dire, Dire Docks
From: Super Mario 64
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBPbJyxqHV0
Reason: This will seem an odd pick, but I think that for being a peaceful theme like certain tracks in Brawl, it works perfectly with the Galaxy stage. As I said, I want to give people a wide selection of atmospheres for the stage, and this helps. It's also arguably the most popular piece from Mario 64.
Name: Rainbow Road (DD)
From: Mario Kart Double Dash
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHdEjH_7YY8
Reason: Personal preference would dictate that I pick the one from MK Wii, but to my knowledge this is the most popular version of the Rainbow Road music. It fits much better in a space-themes stage than the Mario Kart stage from Brawl.
Name: Your Dream Adventure
From: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3x8PjIuTxU
Reason: A popular track from the most recent Mario RPG. Its dreamlike intro followed by a fast-paced fun tone makes it work well for the stage.
Hope you like it!
Zzuxon:
I'm gonna Put one together. Gimme a sec...
SOUNDTRACK:

Track:

Finally, a series I can work with:
Name:
Rainbow Road
Universe: Mario Kart
Game of Origin: Mario Kart 64
Reasoning: This particular rendition is very nostalgic for me so this is my particular preference for Rainbow Road.
Name:
Good Egg Galaxy
Universe: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy
Reasoning: Easily one of the most iconic songs in the Super Mario Galaxy OST and is one of the first songs you hear in the game.
Name:
Gusty Garden Galaxy
Universe: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy
Reasoning: Excluding such a fan favorite from this game would be an absolute crime. It also captures that adventurous feel of the Mario games.
Name:
Rosalina's Comet Observatory
Universe: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy
Reasoning: Another iconic track from the Super Mario Galaxy games. This song really suits the space atmosphere for the Galaxy stage in Smash.
Name:
Stardust Road
Universe: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy
Reasoning: The atmospheric styling of this song fits the tranquil starry sky in the background. We've also had soft songs play on stages like Smashville in the past and this would help balance out the more upbeat tracks along with the previous track.
Name:
Final Bowser Battle
Universe: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Reasoning: Finally, one from the sequel. I chose this over the original's final boss battle due to its more grandiose arrangement. It cuts to the battle music quickly in contrast to the previous game's final battle. At the very least, one of the two had to make it in, and I chose this one.
Name:
Battlerock Galaxy
Universe: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy
Reasoning: A middle ground between the upbeat and slower tracks suggested so far. Also, with a name like Battlerock Galaxy, how could you not include in a fighting game stage?
Name:
In the Final
Universe: Super Mario Bros.
Game of Origin: Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Reasoning: I was wanting to put in a track that was not from a Galaxy game besides Rainbow Road as both a surprise and to help add series diversity. This was a favorite for many when it was first heard. I think a slight arrangement can be made to fit a Galaxy stage as Yoko Shimomura's instruments of choice help make it a suitable choice to begin with.
Violenceman:
I wasn't expecting the stage already. No complaints though, it's a welcome surprise!
Name: Good Egg Galaxy
Universe: Super Mario Bros
Origin: Mario Galaxy (2007)
Links:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GurdjJOhsQs (Good Egg Galaxy)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfQgpd1OSBg (Into the Galaxy)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih9KffOGPBk (Star Festival)
Reason: The iconic first stage of Mario Galaxy. The tune is actually re-used several times throughout the game, and as such, I am rolling the similar Into The Galaxy and Star Festival into this track to give it some added weight and levity respectively.
Name: Sky Station Galaxy
Universe: Super Mario Bros
Origin: Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEqofzdkik0
Reason: The introduction level to Mario Galaxy 2. The theme serves a similar function to Good Egg in Galaxy 1 and is just a catchy a melody.
Name: Buoy Base Galaxy
Universe: Super Mario Bros
Origin: Mario Galaxy (2007)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omMwuoOubjo
Reason: I chose this track for it's more intense feeling, while still sounding like it belongs in an outer space stage.
Name: Starship Mario
Universe: Super Mario Bros
Origin: Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kTIKBXf9rk
Reason: This song doesn't really lend itself to a fighting stage, but this nice remix of the track does help make it work more.
Name: Space Land
Universe: Super Mario Bros
Origin: Mario Party 2 (2000)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7XhTM1jIJ8
Reason: This is a nice "spacey" theme from the Mario Party series. Of all the space themed boards, this fits the stage the best.
Name: Fluffy Buff Galaxy
Universe: Super Mario Bros
Origin: Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHD2MDciu6Y
Reason: Gusty Garden Galaxy was a very popular song from Mario Galaxy and it's remix in Galaxy 2 is just as strong. Flighty and whimsical, which fits Mario Galaxy in general.
Name: Bowser's Galaxy Reactor
Universe: Super Mario Bros
Origin: Mario Galaxy (2007)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx-p4_v-BYA
Reason: A darker, more sinister song, but still very much brimming with the Mario Galaxy feel. As pretty as the stage is, space can be pretty imposing and I don't think this would feel far off the mark.
Name: Star Maze
Universe: Super Mario Bros
Origin: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins (1992)
Link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x5azjuDYPU
Notes: Boom! Out of left field! This is a classic track from the beloved Mario Land 2, one that brings back memories once you hear it. Another fun outer space track that fits right in once it has been updated. The remix I chose for this song is a personal favorite of mine.

Into The Galaxy Medley
Songs: Comet Observatory / Into The Galaxy / Starship Mario / Enter Bowser Jr.!
Source: Super Mario Galaxy / Super Mario Galaxy 2
Reasoning: While the Comet Observatory song itself is a masterpiece and a very iconic song from the game, it lacks that fit for fighting vibe. In this medley, it's been backed up by the louder Starship Mario and the even louder First Steps. I even threw in Bowser Jr's entrance to up the pitch a bit. We already know that the Starship Mario and Bowser's Airship appear in the game as background elements, and I doubt it's farfetched to think that Comet Observatory will as well. The idea here is to play one of Comet Observatory, Starship Mario or Bowser Jr's theme, and then transition with First Steps as the background changes.

Bowser's Galaxy Generator
Source: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Reasoning: I needed a Bowser song for this level, and this one just blew me away. I cannot deny that it fits the realm of the stage, unlike other Bowser songs such as Bowser's Road. It works. Really well.
Link:

Good Egg Galaxy
Source: Super Mario Galaxy
Reasoning: The number three iconic song from Mario Galaxy. This one too is used frequently. So I think it makes sense to include it.
Link:

Throwback Galaxy
Source: Super Mario Galaxy 2 / Super Mario 64
Reasoning: I wanted this piece in because it shows off one of the strongest tracks from Super Mario 64, something that the older fans will get. This song also serves as a dual purpose for those who's first Mario games were the galaxy games, and so they're familar with this song too!
Link:

Reasoning: I dunno why, but something about this song just feels like it fits a galaxy stage. It just... does.
Link:

Overthere Stair
Source: Super Paper Mario
Reasoning: My wildcard choice for the round. It's a face paced song that lends itself to fighting, despite the low tempo of the song. Plus there's something about the ascent to heaven and the ascent to space together that just seems...right.

Rainbow Road

Notes: An iconic piece that made a comeback in SMG. I think it's long overdue for an appearance in Smash and would be a nice contrast to the above two songs.

Notes: While this doesn't have the same feeling as the Galaxy songs, I felt that it should be included since it's the newest Mario game and Rosalina is a playable character. Plus Delphino Island had songs from World, 64, and New Super Mario Bros.

Notes: My personal favorite song from Mario 64. Even though it's a song for water levels, I think it can also fit space quite well. I think the quicker part of the song should come in around the one minute mark, but if it works unaltered then that's cool with me.

Notes: This was originally Beware the Forest's Mushrooms from Mario RPG, but when I saw nearly everyone had a Rainbow Road on their tracklist I decided to throw that out and put in Rainbow Road. Although it isn't the most recent version, I picked this one because it's got parts of Good Egg Galaxy mixed into it
Well, there's my list. A couple of heavy hitters and some out-of-the-box picks. Let's see if I can get back to fifth place! =D

I've only played SMG1, but not SMG2. Also, despite everyone adding Rainbow Road in their lists, I decided against it, as I firmly believe that we will get a stage from Mario Kart series.

I think it's hard to describe how magical this music feels...even if it's the first time you've heard it...it somehow feels nostalgic. I find it hard to not tear up whenever I listen to this in game...I personally think it's the best piece from the SMG games and it sits right in my
Top10 of music. The feelings of adventure, exploration, happiness and nostalgia all mixed up in the most glorious
1:57 minutes of your life~!
Name: Gusty Garden Galaxy

Another soul-lifting song from SMG, this time a majestic piece with the most atmospheric acoustic guitar rhythm in the world...and some tears-worthy violin work that does nothing but make you feel like you're lighter than air, shooting through space with the wind blowing in your hair. This and Good Egg Galaxy ARE the
Super Mario Galaxy games and it would be a blasphemy to have a SMG stage without both masterpieces! 'Nuff said!

Did I already talk a lot about crying to videogame music? Even though this song has bits of the previous two, the main part of the song's still the
SMG1 Main Theme with an amazing orchestration. This theme has a feeling of thriumph and heroism, like your big adventure has come to an incredible, mind-bending, universe-rebuilding end and all you can do is celebrate...on terms of fitting with a fighting game, this song is on similar grounds with
Don't Speak Her Name, being a seemingly slow orchestral theme that still packs quite a punch and only feels calm at brief moments.

Over the Surface
Underwater
DUBSTEP!!!11!!!1!
This song is beyond intense and epic...but I really couldn't decide because I absolutely love each of the three versions the same, so I decided to include all three of them in the list! It works like this, whenever this song lands on My Music, the Buoy Base Planet will be visible in the background of the stage. If the planet is normal, then the
Over The Surface version will play; if it's flooding
(Water spilling out of the main 'bowl' and the Pokeball planet open) then the
Underwater version will play, and if it's self-destructing
(Explosions from time to time around the base, the tower collapsing midway through the match, leaks in the lower part of the bowl) then the
Sochi version will play. The normal theme has a 60% chance to appear, the underwater theme a 30% chance and the
Sochi theme a 10% chance.

Definitely one of the best themes to come from a Mario game in a while, being a happy song with a sort of nostalgic...or hopeful undertone? It should have the
Intro from the
Trailer/World 1-1because that definitely gives some extra punch to the song...they could even remake it to be even more
grand-band-ish? I would be OK with that.
Name: Rainbow Road
Origin: Mario Kart Wii (N64, 1997)

Was actually a very tough choice between this, Rainbow Road 7 and Rainbow Road Wii, but in the end, I think this is the most space-ish of the Rainbow Road themes, with the lingering instruments and the overall mellow feeling of the tune, although I wouldn't mind some electric guitar thrown in along with a couple of violins, maybe like in
this rendition with the guitar main melody. I also feel like the other versions, especially the Wii's DnB feeling, would fit better on a Mario Kart
(Rainbow Road) stage.

It just...fits? Dat' battle Intro and then turns into the catchiest tune in the
Mario & Luigi series, which needs some representation, and the dreamy nature of both games goes well together! I don't really have much to say about this one! Just that I love it and it sounds great on a SMG stage while beating the **** out of each other!

Remember how Nintendo used
Tetris A and
Tetris B in Luigi's Mansion despite them not being entirely Nintendo's property and not having anything to do with Mario? Both songs got in because they were extremely important parts of Nintendo's history and there was nowhere else to put them in? Well, this is that kind of music on my list...I just don't have anything to say about the Moon that hasn't been said yet, it almost feels as magical as
Good Egg Galaxy.
AEM:
1)
To the Gateway ~ Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
• Gateway Galaxy is basically the beginning of your adventure, and it is the location of the battle arena. This song being here makes sense.
• The relaxing tune really gives off the whimsical feel that Super Mario Galaxy had, making a really good fit for the stage.
2)
Gusty Garden Galaxy ~ Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
• This song is IMMENSELY popular. I may even go as far to call it the main theme of Super Mario Galaxy, as it really has been treated as such. This is one song I can probably say that will make an appearance in the game somehow.
• This has been remixed all over the place, truly a keeper to be remixed for future Mario titles.
3)
Purple Coins ~ Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
•
Luigi's Purple Coins, enough said.
4)
Theme of Super Mario Galaxy 2 ~ Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
• Main theme of the second game, what else is there to add?
• I don't know about you, but I still remember the goosebumps and excitement I got when I first heard this tune during Super Mario Galaxy 2's announcement trailer.
5)
Bouldergeist ~ Super Mario Galaxy (2007) / Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
Other necessary songs -
(Last Stand Variant)
• Bouldergeist is probably the most memorable boss that originated from the Galaxy games. His battle theme is really intense, especially during his last stand. Which is a nice change from whimsical selection of songs Galaxy has.
• While
not technically a medley, I imagine the extra beats from the Last Stand version of Bouldergeist's battle theme to be implemented into the song somehow. It's just too good to not be used.
6)
Bowser's Galaxy Reactor ~ Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
• Originally I was going to use the Final Battle theme from the original Galaxy, but after some thought I figured the song was way too intense and wouldn't actually fit as much as I wanted it to on Gateway Galaxy's planet in Mario Galaxy. While the arena is just as awe-inspiring, the situation isn't nearly as dire. So it just doesn't fit.
• I feel that Bowser's Galaxy Reactor fits a lot more, it's not nearly as intense, but just as epic. You feel like you've been preparing yourself for the battle you're having right now.
7)
Rosalina / Comet Observatory ~ Super Mario Galaxy (2007) / Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
• Theme of everyone's favorite Mario Princess, and the theme of first game's hub world.
• Another song that really gives off the feeling that amazes you of the wonders of space.
8)
The Evil Count Bleck ~ Super Paper Mario (2007)
• Getting content from this game but no songs in Brawl was a shame, and I hope Smash U fixes that.
• Bleck's theme oddly fits the stage very well, so I thought I'd go ahead and place this in as my "Wild Card" song (I mean the Galaxy games have amazing soundtracks but I feel like one song needs to be from another game).
KingofPhantoms47:
Thank the heavens for the existence of Gilvasunner! Also, you may want to turn autoplay off, since most of these are linked in playlists.
Won't be explaining much because I'll be focused on just choosing the songs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy8Sn6DHIi0&list=SP7CFEF478E3980B62&index=13
Good Egg Galaxy.
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy: Super Mario Universe.
I guess this theme could be considered as iconic to SMG in a way, it's a memorable song from the first Galaxy you visit. (not counting the Gateway Galaxy) I easily fits the stage as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEIWhy-urqM&list=SP7CFEF478E3980B62&index=53
Gusty Garden Galaxy.
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Universe.
I think we can all agree this song is a must.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57Pw4k8F32I
Sky Station Galaxy.
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy 2. Super Mario Universe.
Even though it's a remix and remasted version of Gusty Garden Galaxy, it has some unique differences as well, and differs enough overall to be included. Also, I shant forget this is practically the main theme of Super Mario Galaxy 2.
One more thing, we had two versions of Star Wolf's theme on one stage in Brawl, so I wouldn't be surprised if we got both Gusty Garden Galaxy's theme and Sky Station's theme on this stage.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z29bt-wjS88&list=SP7CFEF478E3980B62&index=50
Buoy Base Galaxy.
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Universe.
Urgh.........choosing songs here is gonna be nuts......I might end up with just ONE song that isn't from a Galaxy game, I'm not sure yet.....you'll see soon.....
Anyway, it's a memorable song, extremely epic, and like most of Galaxy and Galaxy 2's songs, it fits in just fine with this stage. (in my opinion)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibV_D0nX2FU&list=SP7CFEF478E3980B62&index=6
Attack of the Airships.
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Universe.
In my opinion, this is easily the best version of the Airship theme. The Airships were also Bowser's primary attack force in Super Mario Galaxy, they're a very memorable part of the game.
This next one would count as medley.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRijqmvJAQ4&list=SP706D99B420CA57E6&index=44
Koopa's Road/Bowser's Star Reactor/Bowser's Lava Lair.
Game: Super Mario Galaxy/Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Origin: Super Mario 64.
At this point, I think it would be a crime to NOT include at least one version of Koopa's Road.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNCSn77HtBE&list=SP7CFEF478E3980B62&index=74
Bowser, Great Koopa King.
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Universe.
Bowser's main battle theme from the first game, I couldn't pass this one up. Plus, I just had to include at least one boss theme, I feel this one works the best out of SMG's boss themes on this stage.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zib0R5sq7-g
Boss Battle (Super Mario Sunshine)
Game: Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic games.
Origin: Super Mario Sunshine. Super Mario Universe.
And what do you know! In the end I only end up using ONE song that isn't from either of the Galaxy games.....
I think Super Mario Sunshine's remastered boss theme would fit well on this stage, while also standing out among the rest of the songs on this stage. And I think Super Mario Sunshine could still have just a little extra love in this game, (other than the fact that Mario still uses FLUDD) since we probably won't see another Sunshine stage this time.

BridgesWithTurtles:
Mario Galaxy
Song:Good Egg Galaxy
Source: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)
Reason: The theme that started it all. Everything about it, from its epic orchestral instrumentation to its whimsical melody, captures the spirit and aesthetic of the
Super Mario Galaxy games. If that weren't enough, the stage itself seems to be set here, or at least in a similar location.
Song:Sky Station Galaxy
Source: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010)
Reason: While not quite as iconic as its predecessor, this track should still be familiar and beloved by fans of the series, playing in
Super Mario Galaxy 2's counterpart to Good Egg Galaxy. It's one of the several renditions of
Galaxy 2's main theme.
Song:Gusty Garden Galaxy
Source: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)
Reason: Gusty Garden is similar in aesthetic to the early galaxies, so the song fits just fine, and it's probably the most popular theme in the
Galaxy games, though I don't really know why. Always liked Good Egg and Buoy Base more.
Song:Star World
Source: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U, 2013)
Reason: Gotta give some recognition to
Galaxy's successor, which of course pays homage to its predecessor with this little theme, which uses much of the
Galaxy soundfront and samples the memorable Comet Observatory theme.
Song:Space Land
Source: Mario Party 2 (Nintendo 64, 1999)
Reason: An epic, booming track that compliments the
Galaxy tracks nicely, while still contributing a unique, action-packed flair. It also comes from an important subset of the Mario series, and the most popular game in that subset at that.
Song:Rainbow Road Medley
Source: Mario Kart series
Reason: Rainbow Road is such an endearing and recurring location, and its various themes so beloved, that it'd be perfect to mash them all into a multicolored medley. With Rainbow Road's ambiguous, intergalactic setting, its music would feel right at home on a stage like this.
Song:Dire Dire Docks
Source: Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64, 1996)
Reason: Same reason as stated by Ascended. The mystic, aquatic ambiance here would also fit quite well in an outer space environment. It also happens to be a very iconic, nostalgic track, and really, what other stage could this fit on?
Song:Storm the X-Naut Fortress!
Source: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GameCube, 2004)
Reason: It's an under-appreciated track from a game so full of great tunes that I can understand why it may not get as much love as it should. It'd fit the aesthetic of the stage perfectly, while providing a spacey, techno sound that the orchestrated scores of the
Galaxy games can't deliver on. Considering that this track originally played while on the moon, it has historical precedent to appear on a space-themed stage as well.
Jumpman84:
1. Name: Good Egg Galaxy
Universe: Mario
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy8Sn6DHIi0
Reason: It's the theme of the first galaxy and one of the most memorable songs in the game. As such, it is considered the theme of Super Mario Galaxy and is an obvious inclusion.
2. Name: Overworld
Universe: Mario
Game of Origin: Super Mario 3D World (Wii U, 2013)
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI8slLrX0kA
Reason: The main theme of the newest console Mario game. It gives off a different vibe than the orchestrated songs of Galaxy, plus Sakurai used the stage in his pic of the day to commemorate its release. I think he was hinting at this theme being on the stage.
3. Name: Gusty Garden Galaxy
Universe: Mario
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy (Wii, 2007)
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEIWhy-urqM
Reason: An extremely popular track from the original Galaxy that has since become the defacto theme of the Galaxy series, reappearing in Galaxy 2 and even in 3D World apparently! Though it's orc
4. Name: Throwback Galaxy
Universe: Mario
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010)
Originally from: Super Mario 64 (N64, 1996)
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVt61oE5BfE
Reason: Tis the classic Mario 64 theme, of course! I'll be shocked if this doesn't reappear as it already made its way into Brawl. Also, I went with this version as opposed to the classic because it fits the Galaxy motif so well and I'd love to see this rendition specifically make it in.
5. Name: Sky Station Galaxy
Universe: Mario
Game of Origin: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii, 2010)
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTht2pC-9AA
Reason: The first galaxy in the game and even featured in the game's debut trailer, this could be considered the main theme of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and very important to the series. Though there would be nothing particularly long with the original version being used, I would like a rendition similar to this:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MRuXtwlMb0
6. Name: Overworld
Universe: Mario
Game of Origin: New Super Mario Bros. U (Wii U, 2012)
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyotodRXKdc
Reason: The other side to the home console Mario games. Brawl's Delfino Plaza had a NSMB music rep, so it only makes sense that our galaxy stage continues the precedent. Plus with New Mushroomy Kingdom featuring the original DS theme, it seems only fitting that we get this version here to make a bookend for the series. Also, Year of Luigi represent!
7. Name: Star Maze
Universe: Mario
Game of Origin: Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0neYkiaO0M
Reason: Kinda cheating for this one, but it's a retro space stage! Other than Super Mario World's Star and Special worlds, space themed platforming levels were pretty rare. An obscure Mario title, but the track is popular and is a left field choice that is reasonable.
8. Name: Secret Course
Universe: Mario
Game of Origin: Super Mario Sunshine (GCN, 2002)
Link:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvZWxiUfrNo
Reason: Super Mario Sunshine has to be here somewhere... but its music is difficult to place... until you expand your thinking. Sure, this is just the original Mario theme in an awesome acapella format, but the theme was very important to Sunshine. Shadow Mario steals F.L.U.D.D. and you soon find yourself in a course designed to push your platforming skills to the limit. These courses (and this track) quickly became fan favorites and the gameplay found here would go on to inspire the platforming in Super Mario Galaxy! It deserves to be recognized, in my humble opinion.

TJ-Works:
1. Medley: "The Tale of a Plumber in Space..."
Tracks (in order):
- Main Theme (SMG) (0:00-0:52)
- Starship Mario, Launch! (SMG2) (0:00-0:49)
- Hurry! (SMG2) (0:02-0:50) *cymbal crash, and then...*
- Rosalina's Comet Observatory (SMG) (0:10-0:59)
- White Feather in a Storm (aka. Gusty Garden) (SMG) (0:09-1:56)
-
And restart.
Reason: Here's a tale of a plucky plumber. One day, he visits the star festival to watch the comets with the kingdom's ruler. Suddenly, a monster emerges from the sky aboard a flying ship fortress. **** happens, and he ends up in space with talking stars with no mouths and a space princess- DAH-DUH-DAH-DUH-DA-DADAAA!
So yeh, this medley was made to honor Mario Galaxy's adventure, telling his story through music. It's hard to explain through words, but I set up this medley with to change from an adventurous feel with the Main theme and Starship Mario, through to a sense of emergency with "Hurry!", recovering the positive emotion with the Comet Observatory, before regaining the adventurous emotion with the popular Gusty Garden remix.
Like I said, it's hard to explain through words, so I'll let your emotions and thoughts be the judge.
2. Good Egg Galaxy
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
Reason: The theme of the very first galaxy you launch into, and a memorable one at that. Something that helped propel your desire for adventure with its whimsical charm. Not to mention, the stage itself is the planet you first land on in Good Egg Galaxy, so it has its place.
3. Purple Comet
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
Reason: Probably my favorite theme from both games (yes, I like this more than Gusty Garden.) But it's hard to ignore that this song DOES have variations of Gusty Garden mixed in. I chose this over Gusty Garden for its own spot because it has a more compelling tone for a fighting scene. The drums in the beginning just shifts your adrenaline to overdrive as you fight your opponent, just as it does in Galaxy when you frantically collect coins against a time limit. But it balances this with positive violins that reassure you in mind that you WILL win, no matter what.
4. Buoy Base Galaxy
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
Reason: A classic song, popular enough to reappear in one mission in SMG2. Reminiscent of a space opera battle, it keeps a moderate tempo that emphasises drama with its powerful brass and menacing piano play. They also threw in some space instruments for good measure. (Sorry, I don't know what you call the instruments making the space-y sounds. :B)
5. Puzzle Plank Galaxy
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
Reason: Here's a change of tone with some Benny Hill-like music. I chose this in anticipation that the gravity mechanics of the Mario Galaxy stage will result in crazy matches, where players are fighting more with keeping control of themselves than against each other. (If you don't know what I mean by Benny Hill,
here. You might recognise it.) A great track focusing more on fun than violence.
6. Melty Monster Galaxy
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
Reason: I had trouble choosing between this and Space Storm Galaxy. I love both, and they're menacing in their own way. Space Storm portrayed the scary atmosphere and emptiness of space, not knowing what can happen if you're lost within. However, I had to choose Melty Monster for its bombastic and overwhelming orchestra. It sounds like an all-out war! I think this idea matches well, considering there's a lot of spaceships and planets moving around in the background as if it were a space war.
7. Bowser's Galaxy Generator (Winter Games Remix)
Origin: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (2010)
Reason: This was an odd choice for me, as I chose the remixed version at the last second. Comparing between this and the original song, I had to choose this because of how it stands out from the other songs. It has such a punchy vibe going for it that the original lacks. Not to mention the jazzy melodies you hear in this version, especially THAT PIANO. It makes the tone more action-y that balances nicely with the original song's climatic atmosphere.

Rainbow Road (Fan Remix)
"This remix was made by the video's creator, not me.*
Origin: Mario Kart 64 (1996)
Reason: The hardest part of this list was filling the last slot with a non-Galaxy song. You know, variety. This felt like a cop-out, but at least I tried finding a different variation of Rainbow Road not existing on other people's lists before me.
Rainbow Road is the most memorable track from the Mario Kart franchise for two reasons; 1. It's space themed. 2. It appears in every Mario Kart iteration with a different track design. I chose the 64 theme because it's probably the biggest fan-favorite from all of them, due its nostalgia. This fan remix speeds it up nicely with a faster tempo and beat for a more exciting match, without drastically changing the original notes of the song. Simple but effective.
Superyoshiom:
I wanted to include many different types of songs in this list, to give it more variety, but also made sure that all these songs fit the stage well.
Gusty Garden Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcZhJDUFb58
Arguably the most popular song of the Galaxy games, this had to be here.
Good Egg Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GurdjJOhsQs
Another vey popular song from the original Galaxy, the instruments here blend perfectly to create a very adventurous and space-like theme.
Fluffy Buff Galaxy (Super Mario Galaxy 2):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlAaKS4hWk4
While I preferred Galaxy 2 to its original overall, the music of the first game captured me more than its sequel, due it it being all brand new. however, when I first heard this theme, I was blown away by how grand and amazing it was, and it certainly fits a setting like the one in this stage.
Bowser's Galaxy Generator (Super Mario Galaxy 2):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EsyjY9lDVk8
This is the music playing in the final castle of the game, and is extremely amazing and epic. It gives you the same kind of spacey and adventurous feelings like the previously mentioned songs, but drives it into a more intense direction.
Tank Theme (Super Mario 3D World):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGTitVS4KvA
3D World's soundtrack, in my opinion, is just as great as the Galaxy games, but most of the songs went for a less powerful and more jazzy feel. However, this song sets itself apart and fits perfectly with this stage because of its regal and grand tone and similar use of instruments as the music of Galaxy.
Final Battle (Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ckxy-i7Dc5U
More than any other song on this list, this song delivers a great sense of urgency and intensity. An orchestrated version of this song would be great for heated battles on this stage.
Rainbow Road (Mario Kart Wii):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhOHzGuYBqA
All the Rainbow Road songs fit well with this stage, but the Wii version fits the best as its Rainbow Road is actually based off The Galaxy games. This also gives off a nice space mood and fits pertly with the stage.
Forcerounds:
I confess never playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 will put me at a disadvantage, but what I've selected is within good taste I think. Overall, I think the Super Mario Galaxy stage should have songs restricted to ones originating from SMG and SMG2, and the good orchestral music should not go to waste here.
Good Egg Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qy8Sn6DHIi0
There are two songs that are essential for representing Super Mario Galaxy. The first is Good Egg Galaxy, the first big galaxy you encounter. A midi arrangement of this song was played during Super Mario Galaxy's first E3 Trailer. It's a song fans of the game will never forget.
Gusty Garden Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEIWhy-urqM
The second most essential song for Super Mario Galaxy is the seemingly more popular Gusty Garden Galaxy. And who can blame for people for that? This song is amazing!
Bowser's Galaxy Reactor
Super Mario Galaxy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVZTMPLqNw8
One of the best things about this Bowser level is that unlike other Bowser levels in other Mario games, it doesn't have its usual Bowser feel to it. The composition is more general in terms of theme. It is an exciting, and dangerous obstacle course in space, and I feel it is one of the best songs in SMG's soundtrack.
Buoy Base Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z29bt-wjS88
A well-liked song from Super Mario Galaxy's OST. I feel this is among the best orchestral tracks from SMG, and it should not go to waste.
Purple Coins
Super Mario Galaxy/Super Mario Galaxy 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gadk8EFVUkI
A song that appears in both SMG and SMG2 is an important song in my opinion, and the Purple Coins song is probably the first song that comes to mind.
Sky Station Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTht2pC-9AA
This is an important and popular song from Super Mario Galaxy for reasons similar to that of Good Egg Galaxy. It was used in its E3 trailer and is also the song of the first big Galaxy of the game.
Comet Observatory and Starship Mario Medley
Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 respectively
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sN2DpfOhTo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YmswPJei0g
There's no confirmation yet that the Comet Observatory will be seen on the stage like Starship Mario, but it wouldn't be right to give Starship Mario preference over Rosalina's theme, so I'm playing the medley card for this one.
Throwback Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Remix of Bob-omb Battlefield from Super Mario 64)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVt61oE5BfE
We need to pay respects to older compositions in soundtrack selections, and luckily, the SMG series has a few. Among these, the Throwback Galaxy is more memorable, and was made with more love than the other remixes in my opinion. I think this song also fits well with the stage.
