ok
oh, and do the songs HAVE to be from that particular universe? (say, only Pokemon songs for a pokemon stage?)
edit: dat double post doe
I'm sure you could take liberties on music from series (that Nintendo owns) that don't already have a stage in Smash. I put an Advance Wars track on my submission for this contest, so I don't see what'd be wrong with you using an unrepped/barely repped series.

However, you shouldn't overdo it and you shouldn't cross series with major representation (the only exception appearing to be obscure Mario music on Mario sub-universe stages, such as Yoshi's Island (Melee), Woolly World and 75m (SSB4U)).

What Game&Watcher said is correct.

Basically, you can pull a song from a series that doesn't have a stage, but make sure you are confident in having it in your list, as we will make it known if you should have gone with an in-series song instead. You technically CAN pull songs from series that already have stage representation, but we probably wouldn't grade too highly on it.

I made a slight alteration to my music selection. I replaced the original version of "If - One's Thought" with a different version that has a choir and, I feel, fits Smash better.

Finally getting around to grading on my end...

While I was doing more research on the stage (Even though I've played through FEA... too many times), I was googling "Flames on the Blue," and Google finished my search as "Flames on the side of my face."

Which proves to me that Google loves the movie Clue as much as I do.

So then this happened before I started grading, and I wanted to share with you all.

If I were the director of Smash 5, I'd bring back Find Mii as a returning stage.
Here is the soundtrack:

Dark Lord (Find Mii II)
Save the World, Heroes! (Find Mii II)
These 2 are obvious, they were the themes of the original stage. Also great and well fitting.

Main Theme 4 (Streetpass Mii Plaza)
The main theme of the overgame in which Find Mii is included. Ideally this would get a fitting remix, but if not I'd choose theme 4 or 7.

Ultimate Ghost (Find Mii)
The Final Boss of Find Mii 1, and a cool song to boot.

The Emperor's Theme (Warrior's Way)
The final Boss theme of a different streetpass game.

Goldie VII (Mii Force)
A song from a different streetpass game.

Dragon Battle (AR Games)
Thought it apropriate, as it's from another built in 3ds game.

Level Up Battle Final (Fossil Fighters)
Slightly off the wall choice. I just really like this song, and thought this was a decent fit. Would also go well on a pokemon stage.

Please give feedback.

My grades are done. The other judges are a little held up, we apologize for the delay. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

The results are here, yay! But before I declare the winner, let's look at the judges' scores:

Game&Watcher
Importance: 8/10
Popularity: 9/10
Variety: 8/10
Fit: 9/10

Total: 34/40

Popularity: I think you’ve made some really clever decisions here. Obviously Awakening is a hugely popular game, but adding fan favourite like Sacred Stones and Advance Wars is a great idea.

Variety: As mentioned above, I love how you’ve used songs from other FE games and from Advance Wars. That being said, you could have pushed it that little bit further in my opinion and gone for something really out of the blue. For example, it would have been fun to see maybe the Pirate Ship/Departure theme from Wind Waker, or Captain Syrup’s theme from Wario Land II… they might not be the best examples, but you know what I mean… Still, good job!

Importance: I think you did pretty well here considering there are already three songs from Awakening in the game.

Fittingness: I think this list is pretty well thought out. I’d say the majority of the songs fit the stage very well.

Importance: 7/10
Popularity: 8/10
Variety: 7/10
Fit: 6/10

Total: 28/40
Popularity: I think you’ve chosen some reasonably popular songs from the FE series. It’s good to see a song from Shadow Dragon there.

Variety: I don’t think the variety here is as strong as it could be. This stage should have a few more epic tracks, and some surprises in there too. It would benefit from a song or two from outside the FE series, and a Conquest, Id Sorrow and Bearer of Hope all trigger the same emotion. Monstrosity is a good choice though.

Importance: There are some well-known songs here, but I’m not sure of there importance. Conquest and Id are good choices in this regard, and maybe the track from Shadow Dragon.

Fittingness: I’d say the fittingness is where you’ve struggled the most IMO. I know it’s hard without actually seeing the stage, and music is up to interpretation, but to me, I’d like a few more epic tracks.

First thing's first: Drake's theme was an AWESOME choice: I was skeptical on Advance Wars music being used due to how rock-influenced it is, but Drake's theme was the perfect choice to use for a high-seas battle, especially considering he's one of the few naval unit specialists.

Anyway, onto the Fire Emblem music. Destiny (Ablaze) is there, so perfection on Importance, and all of your music choices beyond that are great, even the track from Fates, which i was also a bit nervous over.

Gonna call this out now and say the big reason for the dip in points is from only having 5 songs out of 8, and 3 of them are all from Awakening <which isn't bad on its own given that this stage is based off of Awakening, but given the limited tracks used...>, and even then the music the actual original area uses in Awakening is missing.

That said, all of the tracks you did use are great for the stage, and I especially appreciate the Shadow Dragon Final Enemy Phase theme.

If there's anything I have to say about this list of songs, it's... meh. Don't get me wrong, they are good songs, and for the most part they fit well. But there's really not a lot that's exciting here. I feel like the only song that felt distinctly different from the others was the If/Fates song, and even then. I feel like a stage like this would need at least one or two songs with a little more oomph, you know what I mean? This isn't a bad list but it probably isn't what I'd put together, myself.

While I feel like you could have stood to have some more songs in your list, I really can't fault much in the songs that you did provide. There's multiple flavors of songs on here, all of them fit the stage incredibly well (Which is interesting!) I deducted some points for not including Destiny/Destiny Ablaze since it is from the original stage but other than that... I'm mainly deducting from what isn't here rather than from what is.

This game's winner is...@ Game&Watcher Game&Watcher !!! Congrats, G&W, your prize is a special spa-resort yukata, all the way from Ylisse!

While I'm grateful for this win, I find it somewhat disappointing that I only had one person contending against me... Also, good job with what you offered, @ W Woohoo982 .

Well this is certainly a treat; this round is for an actual in-game stage before it releases! We haven't done one of these in quite a while!

Round Twenty-Six: Hyrule Castle (64)
Universe: Zelda
Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time <64, 1998> [Stage Debut: Super Smash Bros. <64, 1999>]

Link needs help from one Princess Zelda, and to do that, he needs to sneak into Hyrule Castle to do that. Unfortunately for him, it seems to be a particularly blustery day...

This stage contains the following tracklist that must be kept between all CSTs:
Name:
Main Theme [Arrangement Name: Hyrule Castle (64)]
Universe: Zelda
Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda <Famicom-NES, 1986-1987> [Arr. Origin: Super Smash Bros. <64, 1999>]

Can I say how hyped I am that this stage is returning? I have been waiting for YEARS! :D

And with that... my entry.
1. Hyrule Castle 64 from Super Smash Bros.: The song from the stage.
2. Hyrule Castle Theme from A Link Between Worlds: The main theme of Hyrule Castle in the Zelda series. I chose this version since the game has songs already.
3. Termina Field from Majora's Mask: It's a bit suspicious to me that they left this song out...
4. The Great Sea from The Wind Waker: I know that it's strange to put a Wind Waker song in an Ocarina of Time stage, but I thought that it seemed to fit with the aesthetics.
5. Ganondorf Battle from Ocarina of Time: Out of all of Ganondorf's battle themes, this one fits in the most on Hyrule Castle 64 in my eyes and the theme is pretty popular.
6. Saria's Song from Super Smash Bros. Melee: It was hard to choose, but also hard to ignore in my eyes, especially when it fits.
7. Hyrule Field 1 from Hyrule Warriors: It's hard to ignore such a fantastic remix of the original Zelda theme.
8. Focal Line from Hyrule Warriors: I think it fits in with an intense battle. While there are other incredible tracks from HW, this one stands out to me the most.

My list is mostly from my self-imposed limit of featuring tracks that aren't on other stages.

Sadly, as I'm not a big Zelda fan, I'm sitting this one out.
You can always just enter the round anyway. What's there to lose?

Other than your dignity for when we point and laugh at you if you lose.
:troll:
Or, challenge mode, you could compile a list of songs from Non-Zelda games that you think would fit the stage (But still having to use the required songs). You may not win, but it could be fun to do, more fun than sitting the round out altogether, at least!

It's been a while since I've done a submission! I'm excited to try this stage.
I've stuck with the pattern of DLC stages having six songs each.

Slightly unusual choice but it fits a 'dungeon' theme quite well and Magical Starsign's representation in smash 4 is 100% nonexistent.

Name: Hyrule Castle
From: The Legend of Zelda (SSB64 version)
Reason: Song from the stage.

Name: Saria's Song
From: Ocarina of Time (Melee version)
Reason: A nice flute remix of the memorable song. Felt appropriate to have more than one OoT track on the stage.

Name: Hyrule Field 1
From: Hyrule Warriors
Reason: A cool remix of the usual overworld theme that I think works well for a fighting game.

Name: Pirate's Gigue
From: Oracle of Seasons
Reason: I just really like Oracle of Seasons.

Name: Clock Town
From: Majora's Mask
Reason: People like Majora's Mask. Clock Town was a cool place.

Name: Hyrue Castle
From: A Link to the Past
Reason: Has a really tense feel to it which seems appropriate for a fighting game.

Name: Stallord
From: Twilight Princess
Reason: Nice boss theme.

Name: Molgera Battle
From: Wind Waker (Brawl version)
Reason: I love this theme.

Been awhile since I last entered. To be honest, I don't feel that confident with my selection but I was really just having fun participating again.

Also have a joke entry.
Name: Nyan Cat [Navi Hey Remix]

What's that? Off in the distance? Is it Violenceman returning from a rather lengthy hiatus in order to reclaim his place in the middle-bottom results of the soundtrack contest?

Have you guys ever thought of requiring another series' music for a different series' stage?

While rounds with gimmick requirements would be an interesting pace, I personally think it would go against the spirit of the contest, which is to try and get players to think more about how they would add music to the stages as if they themselves had final say on what goes where.

That said, the fact that someone else has suggested as much before I did is interesting. Maybe we could talk it over...

In other news, how about that luck, we go and close the round and immediately after, the stage being graded comes out! Do we have crazy timing or what? :troll:

None of these were bad choices, the Hyrule Warriors Field theme and the Link Between Worlds version of Hyrule Castle were ingenious. I would say that “Focal Line” is possibly a little too intense for this particular stage. I’d imagine an epic battle occurring with this song, like I think it would work better on a stage like Castle Siege. Conversely, I’m not sure that Saria’s Song and the Great Sea fit as well as other songs would. Overall though not a terrible list.

I like this setlist. The only one that feels out of place to me is Saria’s Song, but I think Zelda’s Lullaby was a surprise fit for this stage. I could see this stage is a bit of a relaxing-type deal when you think about it and it works well. The Hyrule Warriors theme is a very good choice as well. I think there should have been an extra song or two.

For the most part I really enjoy this list. The only things I’ll complain about is the Koloktos and Windfall songs. Koloktos was just a little too epic for my taste in regards to this stage (See above regarding Castle Siege) and while I <3 the Windfall song a lot, I’m not sure that it’s quite a fit for this one. Any Windwaker stage, hell, even Termina Bay I think would work with this but it’s got that kind of, well, island feel to it that doesn’t jive with a Hyrule castle stage so much. I think that’s probably true for most of the Windwaker soundtrack.

I stand corrected on above- The Molgera theme is a glorious fit for this stage, and from Windwaker. I had to find an alternate version of the Pirate’s Gigue song to really appreciate the song (This is the one I found) and I think it would work in a remix format for sure in this stage. But definitely not in its original state. Overall I like your setlist, though again I’m not a fan of Saria’s Song being on this stage, though it seems to be a popular choice so I might be in the wrong. But I’m a judge so there.

I’m not sure why you chose the guitar version of Eclipse of the Moon (This one is the obvious choice!) but still a nice kind of oddball pick. I like the sped up Deku Palace song as well, not a bad choice, it works! Lorule and Hidden Skill Training also strokes of genius. I don’t have a lot of bad to say about this, really. Good job.

The Hyrule Castle from LBW was a great choice, as was the Hyrule Field theme from Hyrule Warriors and the Ganondorf Battle from OOT. However, the Great Sea seems a bit too chipper for the stage, and two separate themes from Hyrule Warriors is a bit much when you could have found something from OOT or another older game.

Using the LTTP Hyrule Castle is pretty swell, and Clock Town was an interesting choice. Mayyybe it's one OOT song too many, but it's overall a good list. I do wish you had filled out your other two song choices, however.

Saying this now, could've used one more Zelda song rather than going for Magical Starsign. A few of your song choices also don't really feel at home with the stage, either (Koloktos seems too grand in scale for the 64 stage, Windfall is too cheery, and Zant...well, it's Zant, so it's really hard to pinpoint where it would fit), but you have saving graces in Malladus and especially the Water Temple.

A number of these choices are good, especially Deku Palace as a surprise gem. Eclipse of the Moon seems a bit too much for a humble stage from Smash Bros. 64, and while Hyrule Castle is a good theme, there's no real need for two of them.

An overall strong setlist, with a lot of popular Zelda songs. Saria’s Song and the two songs from Hyrule Warriors were great picks. But I felt that the Great Sea just didn’t fit.

A good choice of songs. Pretty much all of them went well… but I found Zelda’s Lullaby, iconic as it is, too gentle for Smash. The Hyrule Warriors theme was a great choice!

You had a lot of good songs here! But I felt that the Water Temple didn’t really suit Hyrule Castle. Truth be known, I haven’t even heard of Magical Starsign before. I didn’t think Khave Ruins fit well, although.

The only thing that really held you back was Pirate’s Gigue. Everything else, epesically Hyrule Field from Warriors, were great picks.

The Castle Town theme from Spirit Tracks held you back a bit, but all the other songs worked well! Eclipse of the Moon was a great choice.

This game's winner is... Violenceman Violenceman !!! That was a very close round, congrats! As your prize, let me play you a song all the way from Termina.

<ahem.>

PLATINUM7: 113/120
Violenceman: 114/120

Now, for a relatively important update

From this point on, we're most likely gonna do contests more sparingly. I'm not saying we're planning on closing up shop yet, but there's gonna be a chance that each next round won't be as numerous as before.

Alright, that does it for this round!
See us again next time? Sure you can!

Pretty happy with my results. I did much better than I thought. Congrats to Violenceman on winning.
