I feel like a crude (or better than crude) drawing of the stage's layout would be a great way to support an entry in a "create a stage contest", but it shouldn't be required. My concern is that any regular entrants that have good art software and/or are artistically talented enough to draw their entries as if it were their magnum opus would consistently win over the judges each round and deter untalented folks away from entering. Then again, this isn't like Smogon's Create a Pokemon project where the effort put into the artwork is worth it.
Still, if this happens the judges better not put an emphasis on who drew their stage the best. A picture from the game of origin, a written description, and an optional bare-bones drawing of the stage is enough as far as aesthetics goes.
