Honestly, I think that if they're just going to slap music from any series onto any stage, then at that point, they should just let players customize stage tracklists as they wish (which would negate the point of this contest), or just offer custom soundtrack support.
The thing is that Pokemon Amie on Nintendogs IS NOT SLAPPING IT IN! I can literally go for hours listing all of the reasons of why the track has to be on Nintendogs and not on a Pokemon stage.

Talking about something a little more pleasant than this contest's inability to judge "Fit" correctly, did anyone see this?

I don't like it, but the contest is good, so I will participate!

...So when's the next contest? Not trying to be impatient, but I just want to be part of this already
There's a waiting period around 1-2 days for us to reflect on the results while they prepare the next stage. I'm thinking that the next round will begin tomorrow night.

I didn't do much better this time, in fact, I think I got the exact same score as last time :(

Oh well, I've never even played a Nintendogs game, so I shouldn't have expected too much...

I'm hoping for New Smashville. I already have my list more or less prepared for it, and I can't wait to hear what everyone else comes up with!

Don't feel bad Jumpman, I haven't won a round either.

Anyway, I've always assumed that the third-party stages will be done after we finish all the first-party stages, but now I realize there was nothing to imply such a train of thought, so maybe the next round will be a third-party stage?

(If so, prepare for an avalanche of submissions.)

Thanks, Ascended! I hope you win a round, too. At the very least, this thread has made me a popular Smashboardian thanks to my endless supply of Pac-Man pics. So it'll still be worth it. :troll:

Congrats to BridgesWithTurtles!

Hope the next round is something from a game/series I actually know anything about. where's my Xenoblade stage
Probably going to want to talk to Sakurai about that.

Pretty soon I think.

We really need to get some Past Stages in here, bros. I've been brainstorming some Saffron City tracks.

Hey I didn't do half-bad this time. I was going to switch out the Starfy track later, but missed my chance. Oh well.

Nice job, BWT!

I am personally predicting Animal Crossing will be the next stage.

Hmmm.....

What's that I hear?

Oh you poor things!

We better start a round and make them feel better!

ROUND TWELVE: Garden of Hope (Wii U)

UNIVERSE: Pikmin
GAME OF ORIGIN: Pikmin 3 (Wii U, 2013)

Looks like an anticipated stage made it's way to the fray!

There are no confirmed tracks for this stage, so it's all up to you!

Good luck! Carry! Fight! Multiply! And be Eaten!

My entry for the Garden of Hope!

Name:
Garden of Hope
Universe: Pikmin
Game It's Originally From: Pikmin 3 (2013)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeeCZADts1E
Reason: It's the song from the level the stage is based on! So I think naturally, it should be included. (We're looking at you, Port Town).

Name: Tropical Wilds
Universe: Pikmin
Game It's Originally From: Pikmin 3 (2013)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urkBGrBvXKc
Reason: This song just captures exploring the wilderness. Pikmin games have an unique atmosphere, and this song nails that exploration vibe perfectly.

Name: Awakening Wood
Universe: Pikmin
Game It's Originally From: Pikmin 2 (2004)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvOQFbK4jzc
Reason: The Garden of Hope bears a great resemblance to the Awakening Wood. And another reason why I think this song makes a great pick is because it's hopeful and optimistic. The Awakening Wood was the first area Olimar and Louie could explore after the Valley of Repose. The Awakening Wood is where Olimar and Louie could finally get serious about repaying Hocotate's Loan back, so in a way, the Awakening Wood was a "garden of hope".

Name: Perplexing Pool
Universe: Pikmin
Game It's Originally From: Pikmin 2 (2004)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIbGvr6W3Gk
Reason: This song has an ethereal feel to it, almost "alien". Olimar and Louie were far from home, fighting and exploring on a strange world. In Smash, the other fighters are doing the same thing in the Garden of Hope.

Name: Title Screen Medley
Universe: Pikmin
Game It's Originally From: Pikmin (2001), Pikmin 2 (2004), Pikmin 3 (2013).
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gyt2U2syQEs (Pikmin 1), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkrymwxfj8k (Pikmin 2), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aBb7p1Y1UE (Pikmin 3)
Reason:The main themes of each game in the series. Pikmin's now 13 years old, so having a medley of the title screens would represent the series as a whole!

Name: Environmental Noises
Universe: Pikmin
Game It's Originally From: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRQeUV6P7Us
Reason: Sometimes, just the sounds of nature makes a great background noise. This odd choice from Brawl should return, and just provide ambiance.

Name: The Forest of Hope
Universe: Pikmin
Game It's Originally From: Pikmin (2001)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcW8bySrUf4
Reason: The Forest of Hope is where Olimar really began his odyssey on the Pikmin Planet. This song was used on Distant Planet in Brawl, but it's a such a memorable song and place, it deserves a second go. It also shares the "of Hope" part. :p

Name: Thiana's Theme / Forest Lullaby
Universe: Panel de Pon
Game It's Originally From: Panel de Pon (1995)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKekCyw7Uu8 (Thiana's theme), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGECFvWISUw (Forest Lullaby)
Reason: My different franchise choice. The Garden of Hope is right smack dab in the middle of a vast forest, something these two songs work well with.

Sorry for the edit, I had to correct a few typos. :p

Eh, might as well give it a shot although I have NEVER played a Pikmin game.

Name: Garden of Hope
Universe: Pikmin
Game it is originally from: Pikmin 3
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1etAFiAPYQ
Reason: Easily the most memorable place in Pikmin 3 due to the time spent there. It marks the first encounter with the new Rock Pikmin and as such poses new challenges for players. This is also the place where you meet up with Brittany, one of the main characters of Pikmin 3. Not to mention it is also where the stage takes place so...
Name: Plasm Wraith
Universe: Pikmin
Game it is originally from: Pikmin 3
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDf1x88r_vU
Reason: Finally, a truly epic piece. A lot of people argued that Pikmin music just didn't fit right in Brawl. This piece is here to show them they were wrong! This piece also gives a nice new type of music to the stage then what was previously seen. Also, as a bonus, this track just so happens to be popular!
Name: Wistful Wilds
Universe: Pikmin
Game it is originally from: Pikmin 2
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RsNJwSwyI8
Reason: This song comes from the final area of Pikmin 2 and as such is important just for that since it means "You're almost there!" This nervewracking piece fits Smash exceptionally well given what Smash is really about (fighting). It is another change of pace song from the usual Pikmin pieces.
Name: Perplexing Pool
Universe: Pikmin
Game it is originally from: Pikmin 2
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIQzfS1qmh4
Reason: Perplexing Pool is supposedly home to one of the most challenging parts of the game and this theme is too beautiful to be passed up.
Name: Forest of Hope
Universe: Pikmin
Game it is originally from: Pikmin
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S23xF2Mc6ms&list=SPA2E3926DAFA8F80C
Reason: The most well known Pikmin piece out there and there is a good reason for this. It is pretty much the first REAL area that is visited in Pikmin and where you get many of the pieces to the Hocotate
Name: Ai No Uta
Universe: Pikmin
Game it is originally from: Pikmin
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RJIcYXWdHc&list=SPA2E3926DAFA8F80C
Reason: It was the song used to promote Pikmin and Japan and since Brawl, many people are familiar with it. A beautiful piece that fits the Garden of Hope perfectly, there is no way this piece is not returning.
Name: Aquarium
Universe: Endless Ocean
Game it is originally from: Endless Ocean: Blue World
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcXapcbGUX0
Reason: Deals with nature just like Pikmin and it practically sounds like Pikmin music. Must I say more?
Name: Theme (Art Academy)
Universe: Art Academy
Game it is originally from: Art Academy
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhRM-2HcAqc
Reason: A surprise pick like Big Brain Academy of Brawl but this beautiful piece actually fits!

Bleh...didn't ever finish Pikmin 3, but let's give this a shot. It's a shame that this contest's based on playing it safe...

Name: Garden Of Hope
Universe: Pikmin
Origin: Pikmin 3 (Wii U, 2013)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeeCZADts1E
Relaxing music...I really like it, although the upbeat version doesn't have much energy...

Name: Mission Mode
Universe: Pikmin
Origin: Pikmin 3 (Wii U, 2013)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B4CvrbUAjY
GOD THIS THEME'S AWESOME! It really feels like music that pushes you to work as a team to reach your goals, this has both elements that make you want to be fast and precise, while also encouraging you to think (Like a good Smash game). I really think this song's the Pikmin song that fits Smash the most, especially when the percussion kicks in!

Name: Title Theme
Universe: Pikmin
Origin: Pikmin 3 (Wii U, 2013)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXdNLpOrwFQ
Was going to do a Pikmin Title Themes medley...but I decided againist it because the third game's main theme sounds much more...adventurous than the other two's! It's like walking alongside a river, shoving gigantic leaves off your face as you collect more and more Pikmin to fulfill your selfish goals with their little lives.

Name: Perplexing Pool
Universe: Pikmin
Origin: Pikmin 2 (GCN, 2004)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIbGvr6W3Gk
Sounds like a mix between Metroid music and Dire Dire Docks...that's OK with me! I love the slightly-creepy piano track, it gives the song some sort of strange, unsettling feeling that makes it very interesting to listen to! Also very atmospheric, but fast-paced, not your usual Pikmin track!

Name: Wistful Wild
Universe: Pikmin
Origin: Pikmin 2 (GCN, 2004)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW-MEqhiGzc
For a game that has a much more laid-back storyline than the first one, Pikmin 2 has some of the strongest music on the series, leaving the atmosphere as background sometimes and giving the songs more of a main melody...Wistful Wild here combines usual jungle-music tropes with a sort of savannah feeling, it's really interesting to listen to.

Name: Ai No Uta
Universe: Pikmin
Origin: Pikmin (GCN, 2001)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RJIcYXWdHc
I LOVE this song! And so goddamn ICONIC! Nuff' said!

Name: World Map (Pikmin 2)
Universe: Pikmin
Origin: Pikmin 2 (GCN, 2004)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-gdJXxcbxw
Perfect balance between adventurous and happy! I've loved this theme since the moment I heard the Brawl version...it's just so...amazing! And certainly fits much better on Garden Of Hope than on Distant Planet, since GOH's like, happier and stuff :3

Name: Plasm Wraith
Universe: Pikmin
Origin: Pikmin 3 (Wii U, 2013)
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDf1x88r_vU
Really epic Final Boss theme! It's got thoughtful and dangerous sounding parts!

Special Mentions:
Brinstar - Overgrown With Vegetation
Despite Fit being judged wrong on this contest, I was going to include this song...but listening to it a couple times...it really doesn't fit Garden Of Hope that much, I think it'd be a perfect fit on Distant Planet, though...the problem's that Brinstar - OGWV sounds way too sinister for a nice, relaxing, outdoors stage like Garden Of Hope, while Distant Planet is slightly more threatening, being a perfect fit for this 'Alien Jungle' kind of song. This also applies to Piranha Creeper Creek from SM3DW.
Frog Forest
Now, this one's completely ridiculous on this stage because the only thing that remotely fits it are the aesthetics, unlike the Metroid song, but I still really like it! It could be a Blue CD!

I'll always think that Fit being judged entirely on franchise-representation is ridiculous, sorry. I can't change your opinion on the epicness of cross-franchise songs and you can't change mine...my objective's to win, as this is a contest. I think we can all get along even though we have different opinions.

It's not entirely judged on that. But franchise representation is a big part of it. Part of "fitting the stage."

Look, dude. If you don't like the way we run things then just don't participate. I'd rather have that, then you constantly insulting the judges and our decisions and souring the atmosphere for everyone here.

I'm putting my foot down here.

I.my objective's to win, as this is a contest.
Bull****.

If your objective was to win, you would have changed your behavior to what you thought would impress the judges the most instead of retreading the same ideas that were proven to not work.

You're trying to impose your views of what's best on the judges through aggression so that you don't have to change your strategy. I will not stand for it any longer.

I think we can all get along even though we have different opinions.
Then act like it.

I'm getting tired of this passive aggressive bull****.

I was trying to be nice before. Nice Swamp is done. I won't have you disrespect our judges like that.

That's going to be difficult. I even do it IRL, and this is the Internet we're talking about. And the judges do act a little jackassy when they shrug off the cross-franchise songs as 'slapping them in' instead of actually thinking of the reasons that make them fitting choices. And no, a franchise having a stage doesn't mean that all of the songs from that franchise should go on the stage, especially if said songs are completely unfitting on their home stages.

The problem is that, in Smash Bros, never have we seen a franchise with stages put music in unrelated stages. For instance, Fire Emblem in Melee appeared in Temple because there was no Fire Emblem stage, and it's now a staple of it. But, if they were to put Ike's Theme on Bridge of Eldin solely because the two series have something in common, and there's still a viable Fire Emblem stage to put it on instead, it'll go there. So, fit basically means it has some connections to the series and, if it's from another franchise, it doesn't fit anywhere else but there, and belongs to a series which isn't already represented as a stage. Even if, let's say, Snake Man's stage from Mega Man 3 fits PERFECTLY with Garden of Hope, why would Mega Man tracks appear in a Pikmin stage when there's a Mega Man stage they can go on? I'm not saying you make bad choices, the Moon theme on Mario Galaxy would be nerdgasmic... but if it has it's own stage with other great tracks, let it be alongside them.

Because there's a good chance those tracks don't fit on a Megaman stage. But seriously, I wanna stop talking about this and go to sleep, I just submitted my entry.

We all got what you were trying to do.

WE ALL UNDERSTOOD WHERE YOU WERE COMING FROM!

We weren't rude (cept Hades, but I have no control over him). We expressed our opinions as nicely and fairly as possible. No offense was intended. You just took offense to them. And have been on the offensive since.

Because there's a good chance those tracks don't fit on a Megaman stage. But seriously, I wanna stop talking about this and go to sleep, I just submitted my entry.
Midna's Lament didn't fit with the atmosphere of Bridge of Eldin.

Wanna know why it was on there anyways?

Because they were both from the Zelda series.

So...uh...is this a bad time? Eh, I'll post my list anyway.

Song: Stage Clear/ Title Theme (Pikmin)
Origin: Pikmin
Franchise: Pikmin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9tSyF-bI0M
Notes: This is pretty similar to the main theme, but fits a lot better for fighting imo. Plus, it even incorporates another iconic tune from the series that wouldn't really work otherwise.

Song: Garden Of Hope
Origin: Pikmin 3
Franchise: Pikmin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=H1etAFiAPYQ

Song: Mission Mode
Origin: Pikmin 3
Franchise: Pikmin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-B4CvrbUAjY

Song: Plasm Wraith
Origin: Pikmin 3
Franchise: Pikmin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=EopLxENS6Ig
Notes: In addition to being the final boss theme, this song sounds pretty surreal and intense at the same time. I think it'd be a prefect fit.

Song: Forest Of Hope
Origin: Pikmin
Franchise: Pikmin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S23xF2Mc6ms

Song: Ai No Uta
Origin: Pikmin
Franchise: Pikmin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAIVFZZ87tU
Notes: This song sold more than Pikmin 1 itself did, so it sure does have the importance factor down. I think it could use a remix, though.

Song: World Map (Pikmin 2)
Origin: Pikmin 2
Franchise: Pikmin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S23xF2Mc6ms

Song: Awakening Wood
Origin: Pikmin 2
Franchise: Pikmin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S23xF2Mc6ms

I tried not to let my bias for Pikmin 2 shine through, despite how much it pains me to not have Perplexing Pool or Wistful Wilds. I'm actually kind of surprised at how tough it was for me to narrow this list down to 8 songs.

Don't bother. It's been explained to D-idara why judges docked points for cross platform songs. He(?) just doesn't care.
That's going to be difficult. I even do it IRL, and this is the Internet we're talking about.
Wow, you're an a**hole IRL too. What a shock.
And the judges do act a little *******y when they shrug off the cross-franchise songs as 'slapping them in' instead of actually thinking of the reasons that make them fitting choices. And no, a franchise having a stage doesn't mean that all of the songs from that franchise should go on the stage, especially if said songs are completely unfitting on their home stages.
And there you go again missing the point of my post. Sure, you can hold the opinion that tracklists with cross-franchise songs shouldn't be docked points because of those cross platform songs, but again, that's your OPINION. The judges might not(and obviously don't) share that opinion, but that's no reason to get all high-and-mighty about the fact that not everybody in the world agrees with you on this.

Imagine if, after the Arena Ferox round, I had kept on participating in this contest regularly. And imagine if, with every new round, I kept complaining about how the judges were idiots for not seeing how *amazing* and *perfect* my Arena Ferox stage list was. It would get pretty obnoxious really fast, right? Now, I may(and I do) disagree with the reasons the judges gave for docking points from that list, but that doesn't mean I have to be an a**hole about it and constantly bring it up.

I sincerely apologize about the outburst there.

I'd like to move on to happier contest related things! :D

Keep making those lists!

But D-idara, from this point on I won't take any more aggression. I will ban you from the contest if I need to. I pray that it doesn't come to that. I want to start anew. Can we forgive and forget?

That was the hardest thing to do, not being biased towards one game!

That's not an excuse and you know it.

Midna's Lament didn't fit with the atmosphere of Bridge of Eldin.

Wanna know why it was on there anyways?

Because they were both from the Zelda series.
Implying that the last statement was a smart move from Sakurai...let's just go the fanservice theory and MAYBE you'll understand, Brinstar - OGWV has NO CHANCE of appearing on Pyrosphere or the Metroid Prime stage because it simply doesn't fit (MP stage's probably going to be Skyworld or Phaaze), but that song is ridiculously good and should be on the game no matter what, so why should Sakurai refrain from putting it where it fits just because it's from another franchise? That'd just make the game's music collection better and richer, much more varied and interesting, especially if the cross-franchise songs are rearranged to fit the stage even more.

But you know what? I'll just stick with my Blue CDs idea and make my lists on this contest feel as exciting as Battlefield and Final Destination to try to win, because having fun doesn't seem to get me anywhere.

Forgive and Forget...? :I I guess we can do that...but I can't understand the point of doing something entirely for fun without having fun.

Making a non-Mega Man 2 playlist? HUH? HUH?

That will be my triumphant playlist, I'm rather proud of it. But, my list will be finished tomorrow. So, goodnight.

In the end, this is all just for fun. Sakurai's probably gonna flip us a bird when all the songs he wants are included anyways. : p
