There you go, Swampy! ...Can I call you Swampy?Made my list!
[collapse="GRC's Spirit Train Song List"]
Personal rules: Handheld-origin songs only; No final boss themes; No more or less than 4 songs of the game the stage originates; Accomodate for what songs make up for in tracks not transitioning from Brawl; And last but not least, make sure each and every song is distinct from one another. Ready? Go.
Name: Overworld
Series: The Legend of Zelda
Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W_bFLwB0WY
Name: Castle Town
- Already a known track and a damn good one at that. No justification needed.
Series: The Legend of Zelda
Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeuAimans00
Name: Byrne's Theme
- A nice and memorable track from Spirit Tracks.
- Town theme, very fluttery and gives uplifting feelings of fighting while speeding through the fields of New Hyrule.
Series: The Legend of Zelda
Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aytSMb0xVo
Note: This is his boss theme, but for purposes of the Smash Bros. format fits much more than the regular version of his theme. The better point of using the boss version is rather that the tempo and added percussion would better suit the song in Smash Bros. than without it, meaning either version technically works as my entry.
Name: Cragma, Lava Lord
- The theme of who is easily the most acclaimed character addition from Spirit Tracks after Link and Spirit Zelda themselves, therefore very notable.
- A sort of a cartoony yet unsettling vibe, like the fighters that should be aware that they're fighting on top of a friggin' train.
Series: The Legend of Zelda
Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2BHSEDptuA
Name: Title (Phantom Hourglass)
- Much in spirit of Molgera before it on Pirate Ship, Cragma was one of the better non-final boss themes, so it'd only be natural to be seen on the cel-shaded Zelda stage.
- Definitely the most sinister of my selection, since again, the stage conditions make for a dangerous spectacle for fighters and players alike.
Series: The Legend of Zelda
Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3gfqPdF7eQ
Name: Oracle Medley
- Title themes are always good, and so is having at least one song from the prequel. Additionally, Great Sea has a very good chance of not making it over from Brawl, despite being an absolute classic, so this kills two birds with one stone.
- Displays a straightforward sense of adventure. Nothing too optimistic nor serious--the perfect balance in between to portray that a fight doesn't necessarily have to show a black and white morality. Such as the feelings that could be gained from heroes murdering each other in such a beautiful setting.
Series: The Legend of Zelda
Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons / Oracle of Ages
Nayru's Song (Beginning - 0:16): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ldLmffH2k4
Tarm Ruins (0:06 - 0:40): http://youtu.be/S0EumkAeEAo?t=6s
Fairy Something: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTBa-ApJf9E
Dancing Dragon Dungeon (Beginning - 0:40): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhGS79bPPCI
Name: Minish Village
- I checked, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with a 4-song medley. A Jazzy/Orchestrated mix of instruments would do the entire medley some justice, by the way. That's what I hear when I hear these together, at least.
- Representation of both Oracle games. They each represent different things: A character, a part of the world, an event, and a dungeon. That said, Seasons has appropriately "stationary location" songs (which change with season) while Ages has "tempory entity" songs (which change with time).
- I feel as if the selection picks from the most memorable or most well-done songs of the games. Seasons gets a little more time, it seems like, but the songs need to loop at some point. I'd prefer a more seamless medley over a bit of nitpicking.
- In regards to Spirit Train itself, the melodies each portray a sense of brisk pacing. Nothing seems too lax like it's about to lounge out, which works perfectly with the ever-busy situation of the fight and train.
Series: The Legend of Zelda
Game of Origin: The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRewbuEqEOw
Name: Tal Tal Heights
- We can't leave Minish Cap out of the mix. Nothing like the theme of one of the easily most important creatures in the game to represent that.
- The luscious greens, nostalgic blues, and overall colorful vibe of the stage makes a very light-hearted song feel justified in the cel-shaded segment of the series, definitely here more than any other Zelda stage in SSB4.
Series: Super Smash Bros.
Game of Origin: Super Smash Bros. Brawl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1KN-pA66js
[/collapse]
- No better way to end the list than with a returning song, as per Smash Bros. tradition.
- Represents not only Link's Awakening, but a separate series entirely and the Zelda franchise altogether (due to having notes that clearly reference the series' main theme). In other words, the best compilation a single song can offer.
- While everyone is using the original requesting a remix that does Tal Tal Heights justice, the more obvious solution is that it's easier to re-use an old song that still gets the job done. Redoing the song entirely traditionally makes no sense when it's not even that vital to the series.
Mega Man 2 Title and Wily's Castle... What was the third?I'm going to stay out of this round, I'm not a big Zelda fan so I don't know much about the series's music especially the handheld entries.
While I'm remembering, when Wily's Castle comes up can we not have to add the already confirmed songs to our lists? With 3 songs already confirmed, it would be really annoying to lose a large chunk of our song lists automatically (especially since the MM series has such a great selection of music to choose from).
I did. Look for my post on page 17.Okay. That's enough for this round.
Gonna start grading soon!
By the way, GRC did you ever enter? I don't recall seeing a list by you. I find that odd after the whole GRC's coming back with a vengeance thing.
I'd prefer if you didn't.There you go, Swampy! ...Can I call you Swampy?
You can call me Swamp.Swampasaur it is! I make it a rule to not call people by a name they don't like... So I will respect your wishes.
Just don't call me Jumpy. I just had too much caffeine, is all.
Whoops, I just noticed a problem with one of my links. There you go, Swampy! ...Can I call you Swampy?
I know what you mean... People on the Pokemon Database use to call me "Toxy" lol. That was frustrating.I'd prefer if you didn't.
Then again people seem to call me Swampy regardless...
So go ahead.
That is awesome! I like it!Hey guys!

In the original trailer there was the MM2 Title theme and Wily's Castle theme, in the Developer Direct there was an original version of Wily's Castle as well.Mega Man 2 Title and Wily's Castle... What was the third?
PROBABLY. But it would still take some of the fun out of it being left with only 5 other songs at max to choose from. And is there really an issue when everyone would have picked those songs anyway?
I think it could be understood if we only had to pick two of the three. Two of them are the same theme, after all. I'd agree, people should get to pick which version they'd prefer. In the original trailer there was the MM2 Title theme and Wily's Castle theme, in the Developer Direct there was an original version of Wily's Castle as well.

1.Only one medley per list.Nice banner.
Well I just spent an afternoon compiling my playlists for several stages, just so I could stop thinking about 'em. I've got a couple of questions regarding medleys:
- Are we allowed to have more than one medley in a tracklist?
- Is there a limit to how many songs we can use in a single medley? (Not something ridiculous like 20.)
2. Nope.
...Hopefully we get to tackle Pyrosphere next. Last stage out of what has been revealed that I feel confident tackling.
I like it.Watch as next round's stage is Smashville.
By the way, new avatar. What do you guys think?
I'm actually thinking of going and looking for that old one I did for 'Link to the Past' (which would obviously still be relevant because of 'Link between worlds') and posting it here to answer a few questions (like that medleys question someone had) and all such.I'm still anticipating a Link Between Worlds stage, so there is a strong possibility I could be double-dipping down the road.
Whenever they're ready. Not to be impatient and annoying, but when are we going to see grades?
Whenever they're ready.
To answer seriously, I don't know. I have my grades done and Luco, Swamp and Tumblr have partially done theirs, so they should be up today or tomorrow.
The next stage has been decided already.
What? Expecting me to reveal it?
Not expecting so much as asking you to disregard it and choose Pyrosphere instead. The next stage has been decided already.

...Too hype. Much impatience. Need results.
Need Pyrosphere.
Swamp pls.
