• Victini was removed for in favor of Blaziken, (sorry Fortanono!).
• Mega Blaziken, Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Pokémon Trainer (female) have also been added at Golden's request.
• Slot organization has been updated.

Out of self-interest, you think you could ever make some sort of "super roster" layout for these things? Like, arrange them Project M style into a CSS so we can get a grand-scale view of potential character ideas versus what minority will actually be playable. I think it'd look good, at least. If that sounds like too much work, I could probably make it myself if you could provide me the individual images, actually.

I was actually going for them being on opposite sides of the chart. So it goes like:
Hero (Pit), Main Leader (Palutena), Heroic Side Character (Viridi)
Villainous Side Character (Medusa), Main Villain (Hades), Anti-Hero (Dark Pit)
Worked better in my head I guess.

Also, what happens if a character is announced as an alternate costume?

Well I guess I'll give them a fancy purple background and use a released render / screenshot if we got any alternate costumes. You'll see it one the Male Wii Fit Trainer.
My current plan is to also make Assist Trophies have green backgrounds.

Before anyone asks, no more Metal Gear, Sonic or Mega Man characters. Only reason Big Boss is sthere is because we don't know if Sakurai would change Snake as Naked Snake aka Big Boss has now been in as many game as him.

I'd consider adding Wonder Red from the Wonderful 101 series.

Sure, one is "Solid", and the other is "Naked", but no matter which of the two is used, it's still going to be "Snake".
It's like if we had TP Link and SS Link on the chart before E3.

I think Slime should be added to 3rd party, he's not considered likely, but as generally agreed the most likely Squeenix character I think we should have him on the speculation chart.

The Wonderful 101 IP is a Nintendo product, therefore it is first party. Wonder Red is not a 3rd party character.

I'd say Simon Belmon but not Gabriel. And not just because I want a reference to a cartoon I was too young to see.

Also if any Final Fantasy Characters are considered it would most likely be a generic Black Mage. Cloud is a Playstation character and of the Nintendo era FF games, none of the named characters really count as "legendary".

Why not maxwell or rayman ?

I can't read Golden's mind but I'd say because Maxwell is a character that isn't too well known and Rayman may have been higher if Ubisoft hadn't been bullied by Microsoft into delaying the WiiU version of Rayman: Legends.

If you look at it from the "only legendary" 3rd party standpoint, I don't know that anybody beyond Sonic, Mega Man, Snake and Pac-Man can be there.

Bayonetta is certainly not a legend.

I can argue that Slime is pretty close to legendary, if not legendary in Japan at least.

Dragon Quest is a long running Enix franchise that has had very close ties to Nintendo consoles since the NES.

I checked it up and Dragon Quest has sold more than 62 million. More than Metal Gear and Mega Man have. I know sales alone don't count for much but it's nice to have something quantifiable.

Besides Kamiya having mention that he'd like to see Bayonetta in Smash Bros. (which is a general statement in itself--what creator wouldn't want their character in Smash Bros.?), what reasoning do we have for Bayonetta being a 3rd-party? Aside from Bayonetta 2 being Wii U exclusive and the aforementioned bit of Kamiya, nothing really stands out as remotely likely. Layton, while he suffers the same limitations, at least has the benefit of being made by a friend of Sakurai. It's essentially the reason Snake got in in the first place. Unless I'm uninformed otherwise, Kamiya and Sakurai don't share that same type of connection.

I just feel like the third-party chart can be cut down to Pac-Man, Slime, and Snake if we want to be the most realistic. Anyone else would be more than generous (at which point, why not just add any 3rd-party that meets Smash's criteria?), so I feel like we don't need to deviate far from the 3rd-party chart we had beforehand.
