Thanks! I think the only protagonists left are the playable character from Giftpia, the playable character from Famicom Golf and and maybe a soldier from Famicom Wars. I would like to say Chase from LEGO City could be playable because Nintendo published the title and helped making it, but because it's all LEGO related I don't think it's really possible (unless Nintendo makes an agreement with them and do a redesign of Chase.)

I don't recall Nintendo actually helping make it.
What I DO remember is that there are some Nintendo owned properties in the game somehow. (My guess is maybe things like a Lego Warp Pipe).

Hey, you forgot Pyramid Head and Leon S. Kennedy, dude.
Leon S. may even be in SSB4 unexpectedly. Sakurai put in Wii Fit Trainer because she wasn't really requested much, so Leon S. also has a great chance, too.

Layton: The concept of him being in Smash was brought up to both his director (Hino) and Sakurai at the same time. It's reasonable to believe they discussed about it privately. In another interview, Hino expressed interest in the idea.
Kojima, who is currently in charge of the Castlevania franchise, has said nothing yet about Simon. And it's very likely that he would rather have Snake return than have him replaced.

Simon is apopular choice but I don't think we should put him up. First, I don't think they'll include him just to complete the Captain N trio and second, Castlevania, much like Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy has a new protagonist in just about every game so everyone has a favourite. Could be Simon, could be Trevor, could be Soma could be Gabriel, too much to cover. IF we are to put something up at all, it should be a general "Castlevania protagonist" icon.

Yeah, whoever said Pyramid Head is out of their gourd. Same for Resident evil. Sakurai pretty much indicated he wasn't going to go overboard on the 3rd Party, so we're likely to see the return of Sonic for the most part and maybe a Namco rep, but not more than one to any developer.

To be fair, the latest game for 3DS pretty much has Simon as the main whipping boy.
I mean yes, there was Trevor Belmont as another character but
he becomes Alucard, meaning in the Lord of Shadows canon, Trevor and Alucard are one and the same
The only other protag has been Gabriel Belmont, who became Dracul (Dracula).
So it's really between one of those three. My money would be on Simon if we were to get one, though.

If not, then there should be more lists with Travis Touchdown, and Super Meat Boy.
Sakurai strictly said the 3rd party character should be SPECIAL. Mega Man is definitely special material, so is Sonic.... ok, so is Snake too. But Tales characters for example, I just don't see happening. To be honest, I don't even see Simon Belmont happening, and I love the character and his games.

Not too sure why you ignore this time, I mean I found a character, that is at least mentioned in the poll, and I got an obscure character that could possibly be in Smash. But you not gonna give a ____ anyways.

Well my bad for reading it wrong. 
I think Harry would be a WTF character, equivalent to R.O.B., who had a failed Nintendo (controller toy), like Harry, who was on a failed Nintendo console (Teleroboxer is a great game though).

ROB wasn't a failure. The toy itself was bad but it was just the thing needed to convince retailers to sock games consoles again my making them think it was an expensive robot toy. The 80's was all over that s***.

Well, Meat Boy creators have said exactly that they want him in and they would develop for Nintendo just because of that, but I don't see him here. As for the Castlevania protagonist dilema, easi, just use Simon since he is the most recognizable with Nintendo. Mega Man has tons of different Mega Mans, but they used the one who more associated with Nintendo. But okay, I see your point. Sakurai or Castlevania director/creador hasn't said anything about Simon so all Simon fans can do is wait for a wild card.

Aside from that, but a small indie company who tries an ultimatum that may or may not be simply joking, for a character who's game isn't even on a Nintendo system is pretty much not a good leg to stand on for any argument.

If I remember correctly it was because of the Villager having the cap and balloons that belong to the Balloon Fighter. It would appear that Balloon Fighter has been possibly confirmed to not be playable.

Okay, I worded that a bit wrong. I can understand why it looks like Balloon Fighter won't be playable (given the evidence), but why is Balloon Fighter blanked when other characters who have been allegedly 'disproven' (most popularly, Toon Link) aren't blanked?
That's to say nothing of course about some of the straight-up unusual character choices in the OP (Ludwig Von Koopa? Rayquaza? Little Birdie?) but that's a discussion for another day.
