Platinum Games.Actually playing Wonderful 101 finally makes me really really really sad it didn't do better.
Such a great game/new IP.
Ain't that the truth. The sad thing is to break the curse they'll probably have to end up having to do another company's franchise and get attention that way.Platinum Games.
They make amazing games that don't sell as much as they deserve. It's a curse.
Gigamix focuses on a large story arc based on Mega Man V with some elements from MM8. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's a must read if you're a fan of the series or video games in general. So, I was the only one trying to spot the Robot Masters huh (I know most of them, expect for that guys in the last few scenes. I'm assuming a Gameboy game.)?
...What have I been doing with my life?!...
...So, it's the manga then?Gigamix focuses on a large story arc based on Mega Man V with some elements from MM8. I don't want to spoil anything, but it's a must read if you're a fan of the series or video games in general.
The story is well done, the artwork is beautiful, and the characters all just plain fun to see interact. To compare, Archie Comics is a cartoon, Mega/Gigamix are movies.
Archie Comics is a separate take on the Classic Mega Man storyline, as is Mega/Gigamix. Archie Comic's take on the series is also really good, but it plays out more like a cartoon in comparison to how Mega/Gigamix treats the story, which is more like a movie. Currently Archie Comics is up to laying the foundation for the story of MM3....So, it's the Archie comics then?
I'm getting confused here (admittedly, I've only read one comic. And it was more of a skim. I don't mind spoilers, what happens?)...
Already edited.Archie Comics is a separate take on the Classic Mega Man storyline, as is Mega/Gigamix. Megamix was the original manga Hitoshi Ariga (a manga artist who's a huge MM fan) wrote during the mid-late 90s (stories are based on MM1,2,6, Soccer, and side stories based on MM3,4,5). Due to demand and popularity, during the late 2000s, he continued the series under the name Gigamix (stories are based on MM3, Battle & Chase with elements from MM7, and MMV with elements from MM8).
Very well I'll stick to the main story of Gigamix:But, back to the first question. What happens (I don't mind spoilers)?
So, here's how I see it.Very well I'll stick to the main story of Gigamix:
Part 1: Mega Man 3 involves the discovery of 8 Energy Crystals that contain energy that could power the Earth for 1000 years. They're located on an alien asteroid in deep space, and are guarded by mysterious defense system. The UN tasks Dr. Light and Wily (who will be cleared of his crimes against humanity should he help) to travel into space to obtain them. With Mega Man's help, as they travel through space the two scientists build the Robot Gamma (MM3's Final Boss) to destroy the asteroid's defenses. However, Wily wants the crystals himself so betrayal and a big battle on top the asteroid.
Part 2: Years later after the events of MM7, having been awakened due to the asteroid battle, a mysterious Alien Robot (Duo) awakens and travels to Earth to purge the world of evil (aka kill Wily). The Robot proceeds to destroy all of Wily's Robots (pretty much every boss in the series) bar Shadow Man who escapes with Wily after Shade Man and Quick Man sacrifice themselves. Wily, who has been severally wounded, is taken to Dr. Light's to heal. The Robot manages to hunt him down and thus Mega Man and friends proceed to fight it. They defeat it, and the robot explodes revealing the formerly imprisoned Stardroids, who proceed to defeat them.
Part 3: As the Stardroids proceed to destroy the Earth, they prepare their doomsday device: Dark Moon, which will destroy the world in 24 hours. In the meantime all the other characters either re-group or are destroyed.
Part 4: Basically more re-grouping, plot twists, and the final battle. Afterwards, Wily decides to try to conquer the world again, revealing the MM8 Robot Masters.
Ariga likes to try and throw extra elements to each story so that there's more going on. For example, here's his take on MM9:So, here's how I see it.
[spoilers] So, for the most part.
It sounds like a retelling of the Megaman stories with a few more elements thrown in. Though I will commend them for using the Gameboy Robot Masters (the Stardroids).
[/spoilers]
Well, that's understandable.Ariga likes to try and throw extra elements to each story so that there's more going on. For example, here's his take on MM9:
They already were. Wonderful 101 was suppose to be a Smash spin-off originally.Ain't that the truth. The sad thing is to break the curse they'll probably have to end up having to do another company's franchise and get attention that way.
I'm expecting them to be handed keys to a Nintendo franchise at some point.
Really? Like a Smash RPG or something? I may have to look into this matter. They already were. Wonderful 101 was suppose to be a Smash spin-off originally.
Well....that's intriguing to know. Any other links or information about this? They already were. Wonderful 101 was suppose to be a Smash spin-off originally.
Think the same thing but with Nitnendo all-stars instead of heroes.Really? Like a Smash RPG or something? I may have to look into this matter.
If Wonderful 101 does have conceptual Smash roots, then adding the Wonderful Ones to SSB4 would be rather fitting.

I can still see them being given Metroid or Star Fox or even being put in charge of bringing back a classic franchise akin to the Kid Icarus reboot.
Very cool. I guess it would basically be like Subspace Emissary, except with gameplay closer to Pikmin than to Kirby.Think the same thing but with Nitnendo all-stars instead of heroes.
Wonder Red for Smash. I'm supporting him all day every day.

I'm glad they went the unique path in the end.Wonder Red for Smash. I'm supporting him all day every day.

Kamiya wants to do a sequel staring Wonder Blue. It's basically him wanting to make Devil May Cry again. lolI'm glad they went the unique path in the end.
But yes Wonder Red would be EXCELLENT to be the first rep for Wonderful 101. Hopefully it gets a sequel we could get further reps like Wonder Blue, etc, etc.
Also would have been an amazing character action game.Very cool. I guess it would basically be like Subspace Emissary, except with gameplay closer to Pikmin than to Kirby.
Haha. Maybe Capcom's recent actions against the DMC franchise brought that on. I mean it's what happen to Megaman's creator after all. He went off and he's making another game about a little robot boy. Haha.Kamiya wants to do a sequel staring Wonder Blue. It's basically him wanting to make Devil May Cry again. lol
Probably.Haha. Maybe Capcom's recent actions against the DMC franchise brought that on. I mean it's what happen to Megaman's creator after all. He went off and he's making another game about a little robot boy. Haha.
Not exactly a "Smash spinoff", but it was supposed to have Nintendo characters instead of original characters:They already were. Wonderful 101 was suppose to be a Smash spin-off originally.
I beat all 6 as a child. I remember being like 8 and staying up all night beating 2. I also remember being SO excited when 3 came out. Good times.Honestly, I like this one the most.
Not only is he the most iconic, but he's also the one who's closest to Nintendo's history.
Speaking of which.
Has anybody played the original 6? I'm currently beaten 2 and 6. And I'm currently on the first (currently trying to fight the Yellow Devil).
Fixed.
Yeah. I just call it that since it's easier. Not exactly a "Smash spinoff", but it was supposed to have Nintendo characters instead of original characters:

EDIT: Ninja'd super hard.
How do you have 2 Ninjas but no Ryu Hyabusa? Dream harder.I had a wicked dream.
The majority of the roster was revealed. Yoshi, Ness, Jigglypuff and Captain Falcon (of the original 12) remained, obviously.
Newcomers:
Dixie Kong
Morrigan
Strider (which people were going crazy over)
Palutena
Issac
Ridley
Shinobi
Hades
And in that dream, I questioned if this was a dream or if it was real. I broke the 7th wall lol
And this was in the morning, and I was about to wake up- it was so weird and really hard to describe since I was half awake... I think...
But srsly, this game NEEDS to come out soon. My sleep schedule is messed up because of work, school and this upcoming game x_x;
@the miiverse quote for Pic of Day
I'm curious to know why Sakurai keeps referring to scaling and character sizes. Is he addressing the people saying "Ridley's way too big! Stahp!" in the comments or is he hinting at something coming up? It's like the 5th time he's mentioned scaling of characters- one of which talked about Kirby and Olimar.
[laughs]I think he might be aware of the arguments about Ridley, honestly ik people will think I'm crazy for this lol but I seriously think Sakurai reads Smashboards at times
Director of Final Fantasy VII, Yoshinori Kitase, has talked with Eurogamer about his views on remaking the game, as many fans have wished for years would happen. He said he would love to do it, but that it would be such a huge undertaking he has doubts about the motivation it would require of him to make it. He also cited budget constraints and the availability of the game's original staff as barriers to such a project.Square is apparently talking about FF 7 remake again...
I'm not sure what they said about it
But as far as I'm concerned, that ship has sailed.
Should have done it when FF 7 was more milkable
Would they really kill off Cloud though? I mean, he's pretty damn profitable as a character. Either with nostalgia or rabid fans and everything in between. Shoving him down the public's throat would be received more positively than Lightning. And when most people think of FF7, they think of him. Not to say your idea is inherently bad though. They should make FF 7-2 where Cloud is dead, Tifa has lost her memory and Aerith has been resurrected but brought back Sephiroth as well who is now in the core of the planet in monster form slowly eating it.
Tifa has to revive him in the story to kill sepiroth with the power of friendship or BS or whateverWould they really kill off Cloud though? I mean, he's pretty damn profitable as a character. Well, they like the story and character development in FF7, so...Honestly, I don't think Square Enix should make a sequel to FF7.... the FF7 fanbase are insane... imagine how they would react if they didn't like how the storyline and character development went down in the sequel. The Internet would explode.
Yeah, but I am talking about the story and character development in the sequel of FF7... I mean, the fanbase loved them in the original... and it's been over 15 years... so their nostalgia goggles are 15 inches thick... and anything derivative in the sequel would only butthurt them. And then I have to scroll through hundreds of pages filled with nerdrage and how their childhoods were ruined when I am trying to read Smash-related posts.Well, they like the story and character development in FF7, so...
There is hypocrisy and there is irony. I'm not sure which would apply more
