Does anyone feel slightly disappointed by MK 8? By no stretch of the imagination is it a bad game, but compared to what I initially expected after its E3 reveal, it feels very underwhelming.

First, the game feels too slow, compared to MK Wii, I just feel like the game moves at a Snail's pace. Secondly, the characters. I thought that the Koopalings meant great things for the roster, as I thought that having all the Koopalings would make a large overall roster. But no, we get 30 characters, of which 7 are the Koopalings, 5 are damn babies, and 2..... are freaking metal skins! Baby Metal Mario and Baby Pink Gold Peach are just a waiting game. Thirdly, the way Items are used seems very nerfed. You can't hold two items, and first place is relegated to pretty much only getting coins. Fourthly, the alternate modes are crap in this game. Balloon Battle is completely ruined by the fact that they take place in race tracks, and ghost characters who are practically invisible to another player can still take away balloons. And what about Coin Mode? It's freakin gone. The one pro that I see in MK 8, however, is the course selection for races. I honestly feel like this is the best course selection out of any Mario Kart, and although it doesn't quite make up for all the cons this game has, it does warrant a purchase. That being said, I honestly feel like MK Wii, Double Dash, and 64 were all better than MK 8. Thoughts?

Whoever's against me seems to depend on the racer I choose.

Like, I just played as Toad, and my contenders were Koopa, Waluigi, and Rosalina.
Mario Kart 7 had a similar system. I began to notice it after a while.

If I play as Mario, Bowser, Luigi, Peach and Metal Mario will usually do better than any other characters and place really high in races. When I play as Shy Guy, I'll go up against Koopa, Toad and I think Lakitu. I'm not sure if this is other Mario Kart games though.

MK needs 3rd party characters.
Let's face it, with all this speculation of Nintendo buying SEGA in the near future, we could have Sonic in Mario Kart, but even so, he'd still be a guest just like R.O.B. was in Mario Kart DS. MegaMan probably won't be in Mario Kart though, because Capcom isn't really on good grounds with Nintendo.

I had just posted this in the Dragon Ball Z thread. But this thread is more active, so I'll post it here.

Well, it looks like Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods is heading to the U.S in August. I'm surprised it's heading to theaters though. I've heard a few a good things about the movie. Not sure if it's the best of the DBZ movies, not like it has to be or anything.

Well, here's the English trailer.

Megaman Kart. It would be hype. Gotta have Megaman X and Zero in those Ride Chasers.

Sonic would just run. Why does he need a car? :troll:

Coming from 7 and Wii, I expected a lot more people to be jerks/sore losers.

I've actually had an entire pleasant conversation with people using just those generic sentences on Wi-Fi.

Most people I came across on MK7 were cool. Though there was this one guy that was a jerk. Though I've had more than a few people on MKDS rage quit on me. One guy did it as soon as I was winning one race, even though he had the lead.

I agree for the most part. The game is not revolutionary; however, the course selection being one of the best in the history of MK is the predominant reason that I believe this game to be superior to MKDD, MK7, or MKWii. The stages are the most important aspect of the game. Sure; the roster is disappointing, there is no reason that the Koopalings should have replaced prominent MK characters such as: Diddy Kong, Bowser Jr. or Birdo. I am even a little salty about no King Boo or missed opportunities to bring new characters in the game.... like E. Gadd. But again, the race tracks are the most important, they give the game longevity.

I finally got a chance to try out the MK8 demo at Gamestop today. Lots and lots of fun. Using the Gamepad felt a bit odd at first since I don't have a Wii U and aren't used to it, but I got a hold of the controls pretty fast. Glad to see my girl Daisy is still pretty much the best around. <3

I also spent all of yesterday having my gaming bros over to play some Blazblue Chronophantasma, Gundam Extreme Vs Full Boost (One of my friends is a Gundam nut) and then tormented my friends with a smile as he destroyed our friendship with 2 boards of Mario Party 2.

Fun times. Fun times. I'm gonna enjoy that recording for awhile. ¦3

I do not find it difficult to adjust to Mario Kart controls. I mean... you have your acceleration (pro tip, hold this down), your item button (pro tip, press it when you run into an item box), and your drifting button (pro tip, do this around turns). The jumping button is entirely optional.

It's not the game's controls I was adjusting to, but the controller itself. I've never used a Gamepad before and it feels REALLY ****ing awkward to hold for me. ¦D

Of course, I was just being a :troll:. I had to also get used to the controller for Mario Kart 8 as I thought I would want the map. I adjusted to the controller, but I cannot even use the map. I have to learn how to use the Gamepad sometime, I suppose.

I have no interest in any new MK games basically. It's just the same ol' same ol' basically. I mean honestly, what reason is there to play a new MK game when I have Double Dash?

I'm asking a legit question here. What incentive is there for it, when there basically isn't anything noteworthy that I can't find in past games?

At least with Smash the differences between each game are bigger and more prominent enough to where it actually feels like a new game for me. >_>

>_> New courses, new mechanics, return of battle mode, more customization...

I already have battle mode? The customization aspect isn't a seller for me, I've never cared about it anyway if it's there, great, if it isn't, grea, I don;t really care about itt. Most of the new mechanics are very low key and don;t really make the game feel different from a past game. Courses alone aren't enough incentive for me to buy a new MK game, but characters in Smash aren't enough incentive for me to buy the game either, it all comes down to game play.

Try again?

Frankly, I'm not all that invested/interested in convincing you. You just go on in your little corner and keep wondering about it. I'm sure a good portion of us will be over here actually playing the game and remarking about any actual differences that arise.

You know what I just realized? It's too easy to get away with seeing mature things on Nintendo Consoles' internet additions. Just three simple clicks to setting, clear history, and delete.

They'll never suspect a thing-
Oh **** I think I just got the Illuminati crazies to begin a new riot!
