Hyrule Warriors is definitely interesting me a lot more than i originally thought. Too bad The new Zelda game at E3 will overshadow this for me.

Indeed he is. I love how Link's been stabbing people in the head ruthlessly since WW.

I also like how the game seems to start off with Link as a commoner (wooden sword, shield and regular attire), as Zelda games have usually done. I wonder how Hyrule Warriors depicts his rise to heroism.

I'm confused as to how this kind of thing could be even implemented into Smash Bros in the first place unless the NFC figurines function as extra buyable trophies that can be added to the in-game collection.

Honestly, it depends on how it's used.
If they do go the Skylander's route. Then there's a good reason to worry.
But it could also just mean DLC (or being able to transfer stuff for one system to another). So I don't recommend getting all worked up just yet.

The only reason I saw plausibility in the idea was when I thought about how trophies are essentially digital figurines. And after seeing how Sakurai handled Kid Icarus: Uprising with the AR cards, i could just imagine Sakurai putting out character figurines with the smash logo emblazoned on it like the trophies in the games do.

All depends on how this plays out. If we get the starting roster and all of them are unlockable like in the past games with the additional DLC characters being unlocked through either DLC or NFC figures, this would be the best route. People have a choice on the DLC and those that want to can purchase the figurines as additional collectibles. Plus these will work with other games too.

If on the other hand that all unlockable and DLC characters can only be unlocked by the NFC figures, then it would be bad.

The most likely scenario I can think of is that a NFC figure of Mario will hold his custom moveset so they can be transferred between systems when you go to play locally.
