Are Items competitive. Just asking because I thought competitive Smash had no Items.
Unless you all are talking about Item side events or something.
Not necessarily, I was just asserting that the Hammer is over-rated and it does not provide "endless pressure." As someone that uses items all the time, that item is quite literally trash and everyone always compares it to the Star for some reason (I suppose the Hammer is a skill-gate item).

I think what you mean is are items fair. No, they are not. They are not used anywhere in standard competition. If they are, I haven't heard of it. There is, however, a group of players interested in item-featured tournaments. You can find the thread for that here.

Hammers were mostly good in 64 IMO. They were fine against computers in all the sequels.

I assumed social thread meant everything...didn't even know there was a school thread.

Oh, you were talking about the Hammer. I agree that it's overrated.
The Item is just used to get a K.O., which depends on where the player is at and the opponent too.
But then the opponent breaks the Item and you have to use the top part of it which vanishes as soon as it hits the ground.
The Star is "eh", it just gives you a small invincibility that lets you beat the other players. That thing could be overrated too.
The only Item that sees use in competitive play is Diddy Kong's Banana Peel, I think.

Hypothetical: How would you react if in the next trailer the characters are playing with items when, suddenly, someone trips a Teemo shroom?
"That's gotta sting."

:teemo:

Hypothetical: How would you react if Garen randomly pops out from a bush/background in Battlefield from time to time, yelling "DEMACIAAA!!", and Spin to Win to KO you?

*whacks it away with my wing*

You must know you'll need a Ball stronger than that for me. :3
Yeah, but it was worth a shot. ¦D

And I figured it'd make for a better joke than just using the same old Master Ball again.

But since it's purple and so am I~ *throws Master Ball anyway*

If you are strictly taking about available items in matches, then yeah, atm I could only think of Diddy's nanners. OH, G&W's apple from #7 Judge and Peach's item pulls... But these are random, so they don't see much play. Hmm, there are some fighter's moves that I think act a little similar to items, like Mega Man's Crash Bomber = Gooey Bomb. Or Samus' recovery = Screw Attack

Yeah, Mr. Game and Watch's apple is random, but so is everything about his Side B. Peach pulls out her turnip to rack up damage or approach with it. Like, yeah, the other player can get it too, but they're going to use it once.
In competitive play, the only time you'll see an item is just going to be if you're against a Diddy Kong main, since Diddy's all about getting Banana Peels and things like that. If the main doesn't have an opportunity to get a banana, they can just use the Peanut Popgun because breaking a peanut heals the player by a small amount.
Also, you're right that the Screw Attack and the Gooey Bomb are similar to the moves the characters you mentioned.

So...

I understand that...

The revealed characters for Hyrule Warriors are the only characters?

That true? Cuz that sucks.

Nothing in the world is as magical as that.

Except when Grandpa pulls a dime from your ear of course :o

Silly Wave, he's not even as threatening as a Machop. Does someone not know their type matchups? :p

Welp, that went about as well as I expected! I'm sufficiently amused now. XD

Time for the Friendship Approach! =D

Yeah, for Peach I was also thinking about the off chance that she pulls out items like: Bob-omb, Mr. Saturn, and Beam Sword. It's rare, but always fun (and scary) to see it happen at tourneys.

But yeah, I see what you mean about Diddy and his nanners. They are his bread and butter, and you could preform some unique advance techniques with them. See, I've tried learning the ins and outs of Diddy, however, my reaction times are too slow to pull off some techs. Glide tossing (well in general), banana dribbling, etc, etc, my hands are way to slow. I don't know how people could preform such things. :urg:

I've never had a grandfather though. Speaking seriously for a moment in this dark text, I did have a great grandfather when I was really little.

At least I have friendship. :applejack:

Practice. Practice is how people perform such things.

Oh yeah, there's things like that. Certain characters have various moves or attributes that could be grabbed by the opponents, essentially being "items". ZSS's suit parts, Wario's Bike, Link's bombs, ROB's Gyros, etc. But I think we were originally taking about items that are available during matches that are used as moves as well (right?). Wario's Bike doesn't spawn, though that would make a sick mounted item. ;)

Those items Peach pulls out could be used once, I'm not sure. Bob-ombs would probably deal a lot of damage to a shield (it's obvious the other player is going to find a way to avoid the Item) because they're explosive items. Mr. Saturn being used on a competitive match is hilarious, lol.
And as for Diddy, yeah, bananas are what makes him good---well, they are one of the reasons why Diddy is good. There's a chance glide tossing comes back in Smash 4.
Eh, you could practice, but Smash 3DS is coming out soon in Japan so we're all going to know the advanced techniques and stuff, as well as the full roster.

I was bored, so I went to Miiverse; I tried to draw some Sonic sketches, but it didn't go well, and I decided to make an Aspyr drawing instead. Not the best one, though.
