This sums up my thoughts on Splatoon:

"The game will be launching with only five maps, one game mode, six weapons, three minute matches, and of course no voice chat or party support, LAN support, so on and so forth. Now the single player campaign contains 28 stages and from videos, they appear to be 2-5 minutes in length, so it's a 2-3 hour campaign.

And then Nintendo has the nerve to have content behind an amiibo paywall when the launch will be so barebones. This is very unlike Nintendo, do you think they're just rushing this out to fill the massive gap in games?"

You know I'd wait until we see what the game's replay value is before complaining about it's length. The game's most likely going to be awesome because it's a first-party Nintendo game, we've been playing the same "one game mode" for Smash Wii U for over half a year and you're not complaining about that.

The game will come out and then the game will receive massive free updates, constantly, for the rest of the year.
Whether or not the content is "the rest of the game" doesn't matter, it is what it is. It's free, you don't have to pay for it and you probably won't have to wait that long for it either.

I think the way they've set up Splatoon is excellent. Release the game now to get people playing it, and they throw out tons of new content to keep them playing. And that's factoring out all the events and possibly tournaments they'll be doing.

In other words, it's REALLY not as bad you're claiming it is.

EDIT: I do think the game should have voice chat, though.
