You would just end up filtering out the really stupid people.

Well, wouldn't that be nice? Shame that we can't risk getting sued for having something up that encourages 13 year olds to make fake accounts just so they can be with the "big boys."

It's only illegal to sell alcohol to them.

Nothing wrong with alcohol. Especially when kids of any age will see it in any grocery store. It is right there in plain view. So I personally don't see the problem with it. The avatar itself wasn't that bad either. Not like it was an advertisement for beer or anything :p

Well, you know, parents like to sue sites that have any sign of alcohol, even if its just a picture. Remember the "hot coffee" scandal?

Besides, its bad enough that stores have the alcohol just there. Encouraging kids to drink them is NOT okay.

it's not encouraging kids to drink. It is on the shelf to be bought by legal adults. Simply being in plain view ≠ encouraging kids to drink. Unless they actively tried to cater to that demographic, which no store in their right mind would do, it isn't encouraging anyone.

Just like having Samus in an avatar doesn't encourage kids to drink.
