My gripes with the roster aren't so much about what I like/dislike, but what it lacks.
Like:
: He was long overdue and Sakurai had neglected his obvious potential and the fact that AC deserved a rep.
: She represents the Galaxy games, probably some of the finest games that have ever shown themselves to us mortals, plus she's pretty cute and her design rocks, not to mention the whole Space Goddess thing she had going on.
: The only part of the roster where I can say Sakurai did something 100% percent right, Awakening deserved representation as it's the best Fire Emblem game to date (If you're not a purist).
: He's Megaman for god's sake, probably the only heavy-hitter newcomer, that should speak volumes about the supposed star-power of this roster, when a third-party's the biggest face the game has to offer.

Dislike:
At first I didn't dislike anyone on the roster, but then...
- The lack of requested newcomers like Ridley, K. Rool, Isaac, Dixie Kong, Mewtwo...etc. If the fanbase wanted them, they're pretty much guaranteed to NOT be on this game.
: He's a disgrace to the roster, a literal recolor with a few tweaks who doesn't even have his own name...he turns my stomach whenever I see him and he's everlasting proof of Sakurai's unending bias for the Kid Icarus franchise, and not even for a good Kid Icarus villain like Hades, we get a recolor...speaking of which...
: Another disgrace that shouldn't have ever happened, of all the characters he decides to show his ugly head to taint this game's roster rather than staying where he belongs, as a goddamn alternate costume with no real relevance, he has no real relevance to the Mario Universe, the Smash Universe or the Nintendo Universe, he's there to be there.
: He's simply stupid, and Wii Fit Trainer fullfills his role much better, thinking how much development time he must have taken that could've been spent on Ridley turns my stomach as well, hell, they didn't even get his name right!
Let's see, what else can I dislike about this roster? Oh yeah...


And sorry...can't even stand the sight of Dr. Mario and Dark Pit without long paragraphs asserting how much I hate them.

Look, I don't care if Japan doesn't care about Ridley and K.Rool, America does, and they can have all the ridiculous bishies with their stereotypical JRPG moveset and generic, cookie-cutter JRPG Heavy Metal soundtrack, why can't the American fans have their big, scary monsters that actually come from not-overrated series that have a long history with Nintendo?

Ridley not being on the base game...I think that's insulting enough for Metroid fans, also, I was thinking more along the lines of King K.Rool making an appearance in Smash and returning to his series because of it, especially since we got the damn Kremlins on Smash Run to taunt us.

Also, D-idara has the impression that insulting and demeaning someone using third-person terms to not directly confront them is beyond childish.

Will you keep ranting about it even though it's useless? Or will you actually enjoy the freaking game?, because none of your opinions/rants will change anything, so you might as well either try enjoying what you got or entitle yourself to your opinion and not buy a game you don't like.
But either way letting out your frustrations with other people, specially those who can't do anything about it, only makes you looke like an ass.
And seriously will you just keep getting banned and return to rant again over and over?, what do you gain from that?

Okay, first up: and are the cloniest clones ever. It's pretty clear that they took almost no additional development time, and would have just been costumes otherwise. Cutting them wouldn't get you Ridley, or K. Rool. Also, Dark Pit is apparently super popular in Japan, possibly even more so than Palutena, so it's not just Sakurai bias at work. Duck Hunt was bundled with the NES, which was basically enough to make it incredibly iconic. As for the cuts: They happen. I mained Lucas and Snake in both Project M and vBrawl, but you don't see me ******** about them. Also: Ridley was by far my most wanted newcomer for Smash 4. It's still a good game, which you seem to have trouble understanding. Even if the whole Tower of Smash thing isn't legit, this game provides truly masterful fanservice; just look at Magicant, for Christ's sake!

Perhaps you could stop talking about me in third-person like I'm not a part of this forum, many people within the competitive community asked for more platform variety on Omega forms of stages.
Perhaps you people could stop insulting me for no reason.
Perhaps you people could try to understand that someone criticizing the roster because it's nowhere near as good as it could've been is perfectly fine.

EDIT: Oh, and Sakurai shows how good he is at picking stages by picking Great Cave Offensive over actually-iconic locations like the Lor Starcutter, Mt. Dedede or Cookie Country, I guess Tower Of Smash deconfirmed, like everything, it seemed too good or made too much sense for Sakurai to actually do it.

The only changes I'd make to the roster is making Viridi a light/fast Palutena clone instead of having Dark Pit and making Lucina a light/fast clone of Ike.

Well, lemme rephrase that, I'm pissed at people that think this roster pleases everyone and is absolutely perfect, and then when someone actually makes a valid complaint about the roster, the whole army of Sakurai apologists swarms them with 'OMG WHY U QUESTION SAKURAI THE GAME'S STILL GOOD' yeah...the game's good, but it could be much better, and with Smash, 'good' doesn't cut it.

I doubt it, that'd make too much sense and making a stage based on the Snowmads' Volcano Castle would be way too awesome, we can't have that, DK needs another boring Jungle stage, or no new stage at all!

Yup, as proven by this link: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/fe/kakusei_bk/kekka/index.html. Lissa is popular in another poll, but the picture won't load properly. Lucina's alts probably come from these polls as well.

So, I just beat a Level 9 Greninja with Mega Man in a 10 stock match. I had 5 lives leftover. Though I just barely lost to a Level 9 Dr. Mario in another 10 stock. I'm gonna try again.

I've been doing a lot of 10 stock matches with Mega Man. I managed to win most of them. Beat Palutena, Samus, Ness, Wario, and Yoshi on my first try. Though Toon Link was a hard fight for me for some reason.

So 90% of this thread like 7 pages ago was talking **** about me, my avatar, celebrating people ganging up on me for no reason when I didn't have the opportunity to defend myself or Reply back? Classy...pretty classy...and Sakurai's not a selfish, self-important dictator for not adding Ridley, he's a self-important dictator for the following reasons:
- No Battlefield versions of stages because the Japanese play FD-Only.
- Basically throwing a hissy fit at Melee by nerfing Marth and Fox to hell.
- Not adding Ridley, Mewtwo, or K.Rool, characters that shouldn't even have to be debated.
- Keeping DK and Bowser's dumb animal voices rather than making them sound like themselves.
- Using 'too hard' as an excuse to not bring back Mewtwo.
- Trying to justify his Kid Icarus bias by saying that 'the models were easier to port'.
- Not giving DK and Metroid a new stage or newcomer, guess what those two franchises have in common? They're mainly developed by non-Japanese studios, racist much?
- Bringing back one of the most hated characters (No, I don't care about how much you love Mario Tornado, Dr. Mario sucks as a character, he doesn't have any personality or feel any memorable) and adding a worthless clone that doesn't even have an interesting personality or major visual differences (Dark Pit). The only justified clone was Lucina.
- Cutting the Ice Climbers because they weren't high-priority, but he sure does have the time to add two worthless clones that only enrage the fanbase.
- Cutting Lucas, Wolf, Ivysaur, Squirtle, Snake...those were amazing characters, and most of them weren't even clones of anyone.
- Bringing back stages nobody likes like Mushroomy Kingdom.
- The Yellow Devil ruining Wily's Castle.
- Lazy Final Smashes: Toon Link, Sheik, Peach, King Dedede, Lucina, Dark Pit...
- Smash Run not being online.
- Custom movesets being mostly non-canon dumb stuff and not being available online.
- The Wii U having the roster limited by the 3DS version as if Sakurai wants to please the 'No other games that interest me' crowd.

I'm sure I could remember a few more by playing the game for a few minutes...when you play the game and something sucks big time, you can picture Sakurai pushing that concept like there's no tomorrow, probably because he thinks 'It just makes more sense' like DK and Bowser's dumb, unfitting voices..

I read most of this and i have a few things to say.
1. Honestly if Snake WAS in Smash 4, I have a feeling that Sony wouldn't be too happy about it.
2. Does it really matter if most custom moves being "non-canon" dumb stuff? Custom moves add variety and depth to the game, so it really doesn't matter about it being non-canon to their respective series. Although I do agree with it not being online thing. It would be cool to see it in online modes

This is all just your Opinions. You don't like him? That's great, but OTHER people are quite happy that Dr.Mario is back, because they loved to play as him in melee, rather than Mario; therefore he is not a "HATED" character, like you make him out to be.
If you played KI:U (spoilers if you haven't played it ) you would know that Dark Pit was (going to be) a clone that of dark pit, by the mirror of truth, using pit's repressed negative feelings, although it was broken before he was fully made and became a neutral character, not siding with any gods, good or bad.
Again though its all opinions. I like dark pit and his personality but you don't. Everyone has their opinions, but there is NO need to force it on to us.

I also notice that D-idara's not bringing up , the worst of the three clones. At least Pittoo has an excuse to be completely identical in speed and jump height to his source.

Not that I'm happy that applies to Pittoo as well, of course.
