Jesus Christ, entitled much?SMASH IS DIFFERENT, it's a fanservice game, you're supposed to please the fans on a fanservice game...and can you tell me who would feel alienated if Sakurai added Mewtwo, K.Rool and Ridley? I'm willing to bet the ratio of people who wouldn't like that would be like 1 to 20...he would finally throw a bone to fanbases that have been left unnatended because he was too busy porting everything from Kid Icarus Uprising to bother thinking about those fanbases.
Make Ridley, K.Rool, Mewtwo, Isaac playable? Probably 2% of the fanbase won't like them.
Make Rosalina, Duck Hunt Dog, Greninja, Robin, Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, Lucina, Wii Fit Trainer playable? Like 80% of the fanbase hates those characters, or at least one of them (This coming from a gigantic Rosalina fan...I just know she's not really an All-Star).
So why? Why did he do it? Seriously, by looking at Sakurai's choices and patterns, it seems more and more like he focused on doing the EXACT OPPOSITE of what the fanbase expected, but much more importantly, WANTED.
The only characters I think could be considered blatant fan-pandering would be Geno or Roy, Geno because he has no place among Nintendo All-Stars and appeared on one non-main-series game. And Roy because his fan-demand comes from Super Smash Bros. Melee rather than his own damn game. I'm actually glad Mewtwo sucks on Melee, because it helps prove that the fanbase wants him back not because of his moveset, not because he was in Melee, but because he's ****ING MEWTWO.
If he was making, say, Kid Icarus Uprising 2, then yes, let the man do whatever he wants and experiment as much as he wants, because he's dealing with a franchise that he revived and knows better, but if you're given the responsibility of making a game featuring Nintendo's All-Stars, you just CAN'T have favorites, you gotta listen to the fans because this game's supposed to be a love letter to all Nintendo fans, not a love letter to Sakurai, and if the fans want Ridley, K.Rool and Mewtwo, then give them friggin Ridley, K.Rool and Mewtwo before you start looking around your Top 10 games list to add characters.
Jeez, you sure are a nervous guy, getting all worked up over... fictional characters... in a video game. Might want to rethink your priorities in life, no?SMASH IS DIFFERENT, it's a fanservice game, you're supposed to please the fans on a fanservice game...and can you tell me who would feel alienated if Sakurai added Mewtwo, K.Rool and Ridley? wii fit trainer was very much wanted?I'm pretty sure every newcomer that got in(save maybe Dark Pit) was very much wanted. Just cause Ridley, Mewtwo, and Isaac aren't in yet doesn't mean they never will. DLC is totally gonna be a thing. Mark my word.
Also LOL King K. Rool isn't gonna happen unless he returns to his series.
Is it awesome because you see a lot of Fox players? For Glory is awesome. What a great addition.
I've barely fought any Fox players. I've seen more Marths and Shieks.Lol, what happened to this thread. It's the Official Character Discussion thread 2.0. ._.
Is it awesome because you see a lot of Fox players?
Yeah, K. Rool is irrevelant these days. His last appearance was in Mario Sluggers (correct me if wrong) and he did not appear in DKCR and DKCTF. Maybe Retro wanted to use different kinds of villains over Kremlings in those 2 games.I'm pretty sure every newcomer that got in(save maybe Dark Pit) was very much wanted. Just cause Ridley, Mewtwo, and Isaac aren't in yet doesn't mean they never will. DLC is totally gonna be a thing. Mark my word.

This is why I'm torn about the possibility of Retro Studios returning to Metroid.LOL King K. Rool isn't gonna happen unless he returns to his series.
Yeah, I was just kidding. Fox is rarely seen in For Glory. Most of the time it's Little Mac, Sheik or Bowser. Maybe Ike.I've barely fought any Fox players. I've seen more Marths and Shieks.
I'm getting that too, but i just flare blitz them so its cool.Speaking of Shiek, am i the only one seeing a lot of japanese Sheik players who pretty much just spam the grenade and run away?
Don't worry, Flight likes everything. He's the MorbidAltruism of the post-speculation era.Ok, who is this Flight guy who is liking all my posts? Whoever you are...
I like you.
He didn't like my post.Don't worry, Flight likes everything. He's the MorbidAltruism of the post-speculation era.
Even without playing the bias card, mind that he's quite popular in Japan.I think Dark Pit is the only good reason why someone could scream "BIAS" at Sakurai. It's pretty obvious he was one slot short on his roster and decided to go towards his Magnum Opus.
But you can play Mewtwo in competitive Pokémon!I actually really do feel bad for Mewtwo. Stuck as a character in a 13 year old game, and hasn't been made playable since. If I wanna play as him, I gotta hook up the ol' GameCube. Sad, really.
My gripes with the roster aren't so much about what I like/dislike, but what it lacks.You know what;
@ D-idara
Let's calm down.
Be Civil...
...and without being salty,
Tell me what you like and dislike about the roster.
Don't go into full detail, just tell us what you think of this roster.
Short and simple answers are the best ones.
Don't point any fingers or call any names, just tell us what you think.
We can talk about this without causing a ruckus.
No swears, bad name-calling, finger pointing, ect.
Just likes and dislikes.
Look, I don't care if Japan doesn't care about Ridley and K.Rool, America does, and they can have all the ridiculous bishies with their stereotypical JRPG moveset and generic, cookie-cutter JRPG Heavy Metal soundtrack, why can't the American fans have their big, scary monsters that actually come from not-overrated series that have a long history with Nintendo?-Long paragraph stating how everything Sakurai does should be praised like a god's decision even though he makes some of the stupidest choices that any game developer and director has ever made, and even saying that him listening mainly to Japan can be justified-
Ridley not being on the base game...I think that's insulting enough for Metroid fans, also, I was thinking more along the lines of King K.Rool making an appearance in Smash and returning to his series because of it, especially since we got the damn Kremlins on Smash Run to taunt us.I'm pretty sure every newcomer that got in(save maybe Dark Pit) was very much wanted. Just cause Ridley, Mewtwo, and Isaac aren't in yet doesn't mean they never will. DLC is totally gonna be a thing. Mark my word.

skaaaa gives me the impression that they make baseless assumptions and insult people because they have a different opinion.D-idara gives me the impression that they were spoiled growing up.
Unless there's fans here, let's be grateful there isn't an Inazuma Eleven playable character.About Dark Pit, there was even a poll where he was an even more popular KI-character than Palutena:
Heck, even in the 2013 poll he was still popular:
Fun to note all Nintendo-characters in the polls are in the game in any form. Gaius (number 19 2012 poll) is the only one who's just a trophy.
Of course they won't ban that. That's how Zero won the Smash Tournament! My FG win-loss record is scarred beyond repair because of Mega Mans and Samuses stalling to the end of the timer.
Too bad Nintendo won't ban players for THAT.
do they even come out in japanEh, just a question: do Call of Duty games sell poorly in Japan or something?
Eh, just a question: do Call of Duty games sell poorly in Japan or something?
Yes, they do, and they are pretty popular there. Obviously not as big as in Europe and USA, though.do they even come out in japan
You know what else is beyond childish? Also, D-idara has the impression that insulting and demeaning someone using third-person terms to not directly confront them is beyond childish.
I don't think an extra character unlock would be viable. I imagine something like a special costume for every character, or a selection of characters, would make more sense. The same way you'd unlock extra colours for Yoshi and Shy Guy in MK8 when buying both DLC packs.I'm betting Smash will have 2 dlc packs with a couple characters and a stage... and when you buy both you get an extra character.

If I remember correctly, weren't you already banned for not shutting up about how much you hate the roster? Twice? My gripes with the roster aren't so much about what I like/dislike, but what it lacks.
Like:
: He was long overdue and Sakurai had neglected his obvious potential and the fact that AC deserved a rep.
: She represents the Galaxy games, probably some of the finest games that have ever shown themselves to us mortals, plus she's pretty cute and her design rocks, not to mention the whole Space Goddess thing she had going on.
: The only part of the roster where I can say Sakurai did something 100% percent right, Awakening deserved representation as it's the best Fire Emblem game to date (If you're not a purist).
: He's Megaman for god's sake, probably the only heavy-hitter newcomer, that should speak volumes about the supposed star-power of this roster, when a third-party's the biggest face the game has to offer.
Dislike:
At first I didn't dislike anyone on the roster, but then...
- The lack of requested newcomers like Ridley, K. Rool, Isaac, Dixie Kong, Mewtwo...etc. If the fanbase wanted them, they're pretty much guaranteed to NOT be on this game.
: He's a disgrace to the roster, a literal recolor with a few tweaks who doesn't even have his own name...he turns my stomach whenever I see him and he's everlasting proof of Sakurai's unending bias for the Kid Icarus franchise, and not even for a good Kid Icarus villain like Hades, we get a recolor...speaking of which...
: Another disgrace that shouldn't have ever happened, of all the characters he decides to show his ugly head to taint this game's roster rather than staying where he belongs, as a goddamn alternate costume with no real relevance, he has no real relevance to the Mario Universe, the Smash Universe or the Nintendo Universe, he's there to be there.
: He's simply stupid, and Wii Fit Trainer fullfills his role much better, thinking how much development time he must have taken that could've been spent on Ridley turns my stomach as well, hell, they didn't even get his name right!
Let's see, what else can I dislike about this roster? Oh yeah...
And sorry...can't even stand the sight of Dr. Mario and Dark Pit without long paragraphs asserting how much I hate them.
