I could get behind that. But I fear a lot will hate the change.
I wouldn't mind a new Hammer user like that. Paper Mario, perhaps?
As I said before, I really just want to see a lone Ice Climber moveset.
Another take is to have a lone Ice Climber that creates temporary ice sculptures of themselves to attack in tandem with them.

So they are weaker but have more dependable powers

Although if air benders were war like they probably could have conquered
Basically. The normal fire bending is dependable in most situations and in nearly any environment. The advanced forms aren't too bad either, like lightning and explosives. Lightning obviously being a hard counter for water.

Though it's not like Fire-Benders are on the Human Torch's level. If they were, a group of them would be OP.

And yeah, If we had a lot of evil Air Benders, they could end up being the strongest.

I think it could work, if he called them Nana or Popo depending the costume. Then it'd be more like a Toon Link situation, so the cut still "exists", but someone new does too. Anyway, going off for the night. My laptop hates Smashboards and lags something fierce(minus the Deity Link).

Air benders can fly and remove the air from people's lungs, water benders can control and rip out the blood from someone's body (Not to mention 70% of the earth's surface is water) and earth benders control the ground beneath people's feet and can construct massive rock structures

fire benders just shoot fire
Yes, air benders have the potential to fly and remove air from people's lungs. Yes, water benders can blood bend. Yes, earth benders can control ground and have the potential to control metal and even lava bend. As said earlier, fire benders can lightning bend.

However, you should realize that Zaheer is only the second air bender in the history of their world to be able to fly. Right before the air benders went extinct, most thought the ability to fly was a myth. Since the air benders were peaceful nomadic groups, they only used their bending for defensive purposes at most. They wouldn't dare air bend the air from people's lungs. In the case that there were a few bad air benders willing to do so, I would doubt they could have the focus to do that to an entire army. In the worst case scenario, they would be zapped by lightning and die on the spot.

Water benders can only blood bend during the full moon. Yakone was the first one known to be able to do so without a full moon, but that was long after the war ended. Generally, water bending was used for defensive purposes, but some can use it effectively for offense. Then again, the fire nation sent many warships, and the army was much bigger than the tribes we have seen. The Northern Water Tribe seemed to be the only ones able to defend themselves, but I doubt they alone had the power to fight back. Also, lightning bending would be very useful against talented water benders. Look at what it did to Ming-Hua.

Fire benders never really took control of the Earth Kingdom until Azula took Ba Sing Se. That was basically 100 years after the war started. So you are right that earth benders are powerful enough because they mostly stayed unconquered for a hundred years besides having some land taken. They didn't have metal bending until Toph invented it.

In the end, while the Fire Nation did wipe out air benders and conquer some territory, I don't think they conquered that much considering the Earth Kingdom still existed for those hundreds of years as well as the Water Tribes still existing. All the special overpowered bendings didn't become prominent until after Aang woke up. The Fire Nation was able to conquer and gain territory because of technology, numbers, and resources. Also, the other benders couldn't defend themselves with OP abilities because they didn't know about metal bending, blood bending, and flying. Also, most air benders are not violent enough to bend the air out of lungs.

Edit for correction: Yeah, the Fire Nation did take most of the Earth Kingdom minus a few strongholds and the Northern Water Tribe. They had 100 years to do so with the economic, technological, and military power that the others lacked.

What would be a plot?

Spoiler: Popo's killer is Duck Hunt.
I'm picturing a flashback of Nana's where Popo and Nana are ambushed by Duck Hunt, who, in a craze to become the only retro character, has been systematically murdering his rivals, including Takamaru and Prince of Sable. Popo makes Nana escape but is then cornered and shot down by Duck Hunt's army of Wild Gunmen. Nana remembers his last words and suits up to get revenge on Duck Hunt once and for all.

Guys, I'm starting to lean towards buying a 2DS. Why you might ask?
Well, apparently my 3DS XL is made of fine glass china and cracks profusely after a 1-foot drop.
So I'll be trading it in October 3rd, getting a 2DS with Mario Kart 7 bundle, and Smash 4 3DS.
Allegedly the 2DS is cheap, comfortable for big hands like mine, has 4GB, and built like a tank, so I have no objections.
I would, however, like everyone else's thoughts on the 2DS.

I bought a cursed 2DS once. However I was afterwards haunted by ghost of King Ramses who wanted to me to trade it back in, as he repeatedly said to "Return the slab".

That said, the 2DS is awesome because it is basically a Game Boy-shaped 3DS.

Well, since it's so salty it makes the thread bland, let me just tell you why I could not reach any appropriate conclusion on this cut.

I tried to argue with one via PM and the result was that we both used the same flawed logic of trying to guess then assume the true reason the roster was on both version while such can't be proven by anyone.

Like, we know that they wanted the same roster on both version, but can you objectively and sourced why they did that?

We can only guess like I tough it would be for users convenience while others would question why there's one ignoring there might be other reasons that you ignored and would be unrelated to user convenience so we could be both wrwithout being aware of it because of an unknown information.

So, the only objective fact I can tell now is that being low priority and having 3ds implementation issues influenced their fate. I can't debate if the later was worthy to go that far because I don't know why it was on both versions the whole time.

If they wanted that for I don't know balance and balance was a priority over performance, then it's still subjective because if for me it's the opposite, I won't agree with this decisions while others would.

So, it's pretty much not worth to debate that much on that.

Pros :

Yes,very comfortable
Durability is also good.
Cheap with 4GB

Cons :

Portability limited
R/L buttons make faint click noises after usage
Can be damaged. Trust me,it happened. The left set of buttons stopped working for some reason, same with the touchscreen.

Also, why get a 2DS than wait for the New 3DS's?

....Sorry to break the current discussion if it's still going, so I just thought I'd post this here, which I found on Tumblr:

An extended version of the Wii U boxart. Don't know where it originally comes from, but if anyone knows, particularly if there are higher res versions, I would love to know.

Just a few last words about the roster:

I am fine with it, after all it has Shulk and Robin, my two most wanted characters ever.

However, all these anger and incomprehension for some choices and cuts remain legitimate for the most part (like with all the Ridley teasing, Mewtwo's omission while it had all of his chances this time, Ice Climbers being cut instead of just a Solo Ice Climber, the very clony clones which are Pittoo and Lucy, the more important characters like K. Rool not being AT at least, and so on).

We'll likely know the very end of this story with the release of the Wii U version anyway.

Finally, after getting (intentionally) spoiled with the characters and the stages, I keep my ears safe for earing the OST until the overseas release.

After all, the best music ever is already included, so it will be rated at least ∞/10 already.

The people who keep saying there should be version exclusives (even though there isn't going to be.)

Namely, people who play Ice Climbers.
Oh.

I thought he was referring to that leak where when you transferred some characters you'd get Ridley, Mewtwo, and (I forgot)

Anyway, remember the Gematsu leak? With the Ice Climbers thing being true, I'm pretty sure the same happened with Chrous Kids. After all, both involved multiple fighters as one player.

I might lean on getting a 2DS, primarily because it's cheaper.

Well, unless they announce a 2DS XL.

I still have and play on my original 3DS I bought three years ago. I already wrecked my slide pad, but super glue solved the issue just fine.

Planning on upgrading to a New 3DS XL when it releases next year.

OG 3DS that my capture card is being installed into as we speak and a 3DS XL for my personal one.

I might get a New 3DS, my muscle memory for the c stick has REALLY messed me up a few times in the demo. RIP in pieces, Mario, I can't get an uber fast Down Smash off as you anymore with just one flick of my thumb.

I got used to playing Smash on 3DS rather quickly.

The lack of a C-stick still bothers a bit, though. Grabs are another story: the L button is awkward to use for me but R+A works just fine to do grabs and tether recoveries.

My beef with the Ice Climbers being gone is that 1. they were with the series for 13 years, 2. they were fully functional in one version but were potentially completely cut anyways (time will tell though), and 3. they really opened the door for unique movesets and obscure franchises to make it to Smash Bros. To me, the Ice Climbers were the series first unconventional fighters who were made to work with a little bit of ingenuity and creativity. I also feel like their addition stressed the point that Smash Bros was about representing Nintendo's history as a whole instead of just the recent games. The original Smash Bros didn't really have any retro characters and everybody's latest addition had only been a few years back. The Ice Climbers changed that. They were characters that really didn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of ever getting a new game but they were still deemed important anyways which is one of the things I've come to really appreciate about Smash Bros as a series. To me, the Ice Climbers represented one of the things that I like about Smash Bros the most and why it continues to be my favorite video game franchise.

So with what Sakurai said about not revealing hidden features until both versions hit worldwide, I'm guessing we can't expect any more reveals until late November.

Oh the sweet salty tears of whiny fanboys are so delicious. It's like they are totally blaming Smash 3DS for their cut and wished it never existed. I don't really mind Ice Climbers loss since people had abused their chain grabs too much, as well as the fact that Ice Climber was a pretty unplayable NES game. :troll:

The impression I got from that announcement was that he was going to post about the unlockable characters when the 3DS version hits the rest of the world.

I wonder what are the Japanese fans' reactions to the final roster and the Ice Climbers fiasco...

I know my country's Nintendo community is taking their removal way easier than this forum. Sure, they express disappointment and such, but aren't really whiny about it.
