I don't have the Wii U version yet, but I had the chance to play it for the first time yesterday night at my university's Smash club. I have a few things to say:
- First off, the graphics look amazing. The game looks so colorful and vibrant, and the fighters' animations look really smooth in 60 fps on a larger screen. I know what I'm saying is obvious, but actually playing it for the first time was really mesmerizing.
- Getting back to the Gamecube controller after a few years of not using it took a bit, especially when I've been using the 3DS for a month.
- The matches played was a mix of team battles, free-for-alls, and 1v1s. I won most of the 1v1s with Olimar, but I don't think it really means anything since most of the people in the club were playing Melee, and I noticed they tend to use some habits that they developed in Melee (like using Marth's/Lucina's Dancing Blade as recovery onto the stage).
Can't wait to get the Wii U version soon, though I may have to settle with a different controller when I'm not at the club until the adapter restocks at stores.
