Like, in the period of time it took me to write that post with the brief grab a coffee in between, 2 and a half pages.
Anything larger than a paragraph being like 1/30 of said posts.
Eep.

I've been modding for years and any board I put particular attention to ends up that way. Fun/silliness from time to time, but there's always an overarching "proper" conversation going on (and if there isn't someone brings something good up).

Habits I guess? (I just think of how a school teacher would force you into things, and although that to most would be "death", eventually it becomes a normal means of articulation).
I like to talk about things of general interest. Otherwise I expect the random drop to usually just be 1-off (as in people don't try to play a game of out-randoming/sillying you).

But a place/thread like this moves way too fast for where I'd normally lurk. Posts that are in the range of 20-60% "appropriate" [where 80%+ would be best] flood out much faster then what I can do stuff for considering my other responsibilities/sanity limits.

It's a skill to be able to bring up a conversation topic multiple people can get into, especially when the demographic is so specific (and those outside that probably wouldn't still frequently lurk here). But it's a good feeling no? Probably much better than a spree of likes for a single "funny" image. Anything can be not-boring in the right context and environment

This thread is honestly more of a chatbox than a legitimate discussion. That's kind of what I like about it, but to be fair, I can see the other side as well. How long do these things last again? Either way, I miss the more meaningful discussions from a while ago. The thread was still fast, but we would stick to one topic for a while.

Well, the QUALITY syndrome is hitting Dragon Ball Super too

I thought Toei was trying to give a good animation for this series, but it looks like is getting the same treatment that Saint Seiya: SOG and SM Crystal
I would say he looks like an action figure now. Weird.

That kind of stuff still happens from time to time, but it's usually in the middle of the night when not a lot of people are on here. I doubt it'll happen that much during "prime time" as it were since the general population of the thread has changed a lot since it was in 2.0/3.0.

No but seriously Shaya's right.

Anyway something struck me in the news today. Kinda controversial, so I'll tread carefully. Apparently a group of people in Seattle stormed up on stage when Bernie Sanders was supposed to talk to an eager crowd, taking over the venue as part of a Black Lives Matter movement.

Now I don't have a problem with the movement itself, not at all, and I'll admit upfront that Bernie's my go-to candidate for several reasons. Like Bernie, I think all lives matter and that more should be done to prevent wrongful deaths. Bernie never got to speak at the rally, and that pisses me off. It's one thing to want to push a message, but it's another to lack complete human decency. Not only is Sanders supportive of the movement's message, but frankly it was his time in the limelight. And not to mention all those people who showed up and traveled from god knows how far away to hear him speak. And yet they never gave back the mic due to him "being part of a corrupt system" and being a fake because of it.

It just makes me mad. Not to make light of it, but seriously, like Oak said, "There's a time and place for everything, but not now."

ASCII is old. It's not the 90's anymore. :p

It is fun to make funny posts (eg, I posted a joke about Windows 7: Shrek Edition.) but it is also good to talk about certain topics.

Well that's just it.
The battle between the amount of users willing to keep the standard above "IRC Chat" level were a smidgen to the overwhelming majority of kiddy stuff.
As a replacement for an IRC chat it's.... whatever.

Originally we opened up socials/general threads not for anything goes, but so other threads wouldn't need to be derailed with tangents and small things that wouldn't require a topic could be brought up without much stress.
Times have changed... like us having a "like" feature. A socially addictive (especially for adolescents) acknowledgement tool that people will sell organs and kill puppies for.

It's like having a library suddenly turn into a casino.
So many books to read, but may as well just put it all on RED instead. Oh I lost? try again. Oh I won? don't quit while I'm ahead, try again anyway. Until you realise what's going on or die.

I never seem to be on when the conversation is good. Sometimes in the early morning there's stuff, but it doesn't take long for it to devolve into garbage. 2.0 and 3.0 were the good old days. Great discussions then.

I can't help liking everything :c

But seriously, I'm more of a pictures instead of words person, and most of the time I make the pictures myself, so in a way, it IS thought out, but I can't think up great paragraphs of text to accompany them. :urg:

Well, as part of the generation that is socially addictive, I can attest to that fact. Still, I enjoy discussions, but simply forget to join in at times.
And libraries, whether digital (futuristic holograms like the Jedi Temple Library) or physical (traditional libraries), need to stay. I can't read books digitally. I like feeling paper.

I find it humorous that the mods put so much importance on how / why people go about gaining imaginary karma points.

Mine is out of state, so I might not get there for three days.
Sounds horrifying...Glad I'm planning to apply to in-state colleges only...Not only are they relatively close, but DISCOUNTS! Apparently less tuition per quarter/semester.

I don't know about karma, but I can play the ***hole and the nice guy. Just depends on who you are, what you've done, and what I had for breakfast/lunch/dinner that day. how I feel.

Idk, in a way it helps me see if my humor is actually humorous, pff.

I just really enjoy doing image editing and whatnot, and by myself there really isn't any point or time of doing that kind of stuff, so I like making images for this thread to get chuckles out of everyone, plus it's a great way for me to practice my photoshop (even though I use GIMP) skills.

I get sick with stress and depression every year. I really don't want to go, like, at all
It's the opposite for me o: Not going to school / work / outside gives me cabin fever and I spiral into this bottomless pit.

Extreme amounts of leisure are truly counterproductive for me.

Oh all you people in college. I still haven't made version 2 of my college essay yet. I have one version done, but I'd like to have another one written in a different style and then get them both looked at when school starts.
