So it's also a bad thing when people use it for Human Rights, equal treatment of humans, abolition of Abortion and the works as well?
This is another typical one people don't like to here about and it pisses me off. Whats's wrong w/ abortion? If i'm ***** and become pregnant (i'm not a girl btw) I can't get an abortion? It's so dumb and **** like this is why gay marriage isn't legal, abortion is wrong, euthanization is wrong, etc.

Christians are against abortion because it is, in their eyes, the equivalent to murder, in that it keeps innocent babies from being born.

Can we not start the abortion debate? It's happened before, and it's pointless.

Summary of abortion debate:
"Abortion is wrong."
"No it's not. ****, health issues for mother, etc."
"I don't care, it's murder."
"It's not living at the time of abortion."
"Yes it is. Potential life, etc."
"No it's not."
"Yes it is."
"...no it's not."

Etc, etc.

I love how it's physically impossible to stop a thread that mentions religion from turning into a debate on religion.

No one can actually focus on the topic at hand, instead they try and argue the legitimacy of religion in order to determine how much sense the argument makes.

^Makes no sense because my post didn't offend science. I'm not even using the internet on a computer.

In fact, my comment was based off a teaching from Introduction Physical Science. Checkmate, no johns. jk/

Seriously though, I believe in math and science and I understand each very well. I'm asking MOUNTAIN TIGER to give me the data that scientist have to prove creationism isn't valid. No hard feelings, and BZ, I didn't ignore your post btw.:026:
Since you asked, I'm only refuting creationism FROM A LITERAL VIEWPOINT. If you take it literally, then that implies that the world was created in six days, and that the world is approximately 7,000 years old. But that's not true. We've found fossils that have been proven to date back FAR further than that, and carbon dating has traced the age of certain rocks to billions of years.

Also, according to creationism, plants were made before the sun was. But that can't be true because plants need the sun's energy to produce food and survive. Plus it mentions all the stars being made, and I'm pretty sure there are quite a few stars out there older than earth... And it says that birds came before land animals, wherea palentologists have shown that the reverse is true based on fossil records.

Kinda, but it's not quite that simple. It varies a lot depending on what denomination you're talking about. For example, Catholics and Eastern Orthodox believe that it's always wrong, irrespective of circumstances, the Lutheran Church believes it is fine before the baby becoems viable, and various other churches have various either pro-life or pro-choice views.

I've got an argument for you guys:

1 - Very experienced debaters and intellectuals have argued for many different viewpoints about religion for centuries.
2 - If a "correct" viewpoint had been reached from this argument, then the vast majority of intelligent people would believe that viewpoint.
3 - No viewpoint is considered to be correct by the vast majority of intellectuals.
3 - From 1, 2, and 3, it follows that the best thinkers cannot come to a correct conclusion about the questions of God and religion.
4 - We here at SWF are not as good at debating and thinking as these guys.
5 - From 3 and 4 it follows that the users of SWF cannot come to a correct conclusion about the questions about religion.

So there ya go. I've seen way too many of these threads on way too many forums. There is a lot of evidence for both sides. Sometimes both sides are correct and the answer seems to be a compromise. Oftentimes the argument occurs simply because of a lack of communication or understanding. This applies to not only religion, but almost every single major issue today.

I sometimes think that some arguing here genuinely don't want to hear the opposing side's arguments. They post because they want to be right. If you wanted to hear the real, complete arguments for each side, you'd go to a web site designed for things like that. SWF is nice, the Debate Hall is nice (and is where this stuff should really go) but you're not going to accomplish much other than the slim chance of converting someone else to your theist/atheist beliefs (which I hear is a major grievance of atheists against fundamentalists? Sounds like hypocrisy to me...).

If you want me to elaborate on a specific point, I might, but I can't help but thinking that it's a huge waste of my time and yours. Sorry for the blunt tone; I'm a bit partied out.

My ego...It's OVER 9000!
I'm sorry, but I just hate this logic.

God is a Flying Spaghetti Monster. Prove it wrong. Oh wait, you can't, therefore it must be true.
I'm a Jedi. Prove me wrong. You can't. Must be true.
I can fly, prove me wrong. You can't. Must be true.

Dumb logic, sorry.
Your apologies are not forgiven, cause they're not needed. MT, Frown explained to me about that carbon dating junk. I'm guessing that's the stuff that'll fail to brainwash me when I reach college. I do and will always believe that a supreme being created the Earth. The Big Bang is BS. The meaning of life is to worship a supreme being. You can't prove me wrong, so it's true. I'd like to see your scrubby scientists try. Now if only Teran can wake up and kill this thread. I'm a ****** freshman, that's BS:026:
