So today I was playing as diddy vs my brothers MK on final destination. all was going well on the last stock, i had a decent lead and then he hit me with a grounded shuttle loop at 81%, bringing me to 90% and KO'ing me off the top.

This is no joke, it KO'd almost 20% earler than snakes utilt does. Needless to say, many WTF's followed and we tried to recreate it in training but we just couldnt do it. of course no replay since the match went for too long :( I think it may have had something to with bananas on the field or SOMETHING because afaik theres no sweetspot on a grounded SL that gives it such ridiculous high knockback.

Maybe people could look into it a bit more? I know brawl is full of glitches but ive never heard of a glitch giving attacks a massive boost in knockback.

Please, I am not joking. If youve seen me around here youll know i take brawl seriously and am not trying to trick anyone or anything.

For anyone who cares, im running an unmodded wii without any hacks or anything, PAL version. it was on final D, 81% and there were bananas in the nearby area when he shuttle looped me while i was standing on the ground next to him

get diddy on 81%, hit him with a grounded shuttle loop. It doesnt have anywhere near enough knockback normally to result in a KO.

you need to get on about 110% or something before bad DI will result in a KO directly in a straight line off the top

^^^ lol. DI'ing upwards does nothing. to get KO'd earlier than normal to a grounded shuttle loop, you have to DI INTO metaknight, as in left-right

srsly guys test it for yourself... no amount of bad DI is ever going to make diddy get KO'd anywhere near 81%, it was something else

Were you charging a smash when you got hit? That could explain it... though I'm not sure if the increased knockback would be that dramatic.

Your probably just retarted and you mistook what percent you were at when he killed you

Humm... Charging a smash and bad DI both could have an amazingly ugly effect. He probably charged up an usmash without realizing he was charging it (mistake when smashing with A button), and the MK luckily SL'd right when he did it... And it was too fast for him to notice he should've DI'd somewhere else.

you just DI'd upward

in brawl, you can die faster by DIing up

in 64 and Melee this did not happen though

edit - for those saying he's wrong he is not wrong, he just DI'd up. I had this same problem about half a year ago but then I realized you could just DI up in this game and die faster

i DI up then left/right once i get close to the top. i die off the sides really fast sometimes by doing this though. its weird like if i go high enough and DI left/right i get koed off the sides regardless of how close to the side i was. its hard to explain

in Brawl (unlike melee and 64) the stages are not Boxes, but instead the sides of the stage go off at angles I think kinda like this \ (but most likely a 45 degree angle). I've noticed this a long time ago, which is why with MK I don't always momentum cancel with Uairs and double jumps as much as I could and thus I live longer because of it

M2K, just to clarify, do you mean they are like this:

\_/

or like this:

/_\

With the underscore being the bottom blast zone.

You were probably charging a forward or up smash when you got hit. Getting hit with moves that have high initial knockback when charging a smash gets you killed a lot earlier. Especially things like MK's up b. You also DI in the direction of the smash no matter what (up for Usmash etc.). I've been killed by the knee at 50% as DK because I charged Fsmash a little too long. This is probably the same thing.

hmm yeah that would explain it a bit.

I heard that charging a smash gets you KO'd 20% earlier? im pretty sure that was measured off the side, maybe its slightly more off the top :/

i did this to my friends samus. lololol he was usnig a down air and i gounreded shuttle loop killed him at 85 on BF.

i wanted to make a thread on it but i guess no 1 would beleive without a vid. i just thought SOMEHOW the momentum from samus spike got transfered by my up B. lmao i didint know what else to think because

1. he was abviously holding DOWN to do the down air, idk if he c stick or not. it was werid you know.

@ the original post: were you charging a smash attack or using a smash attack with the attack button instead of the c-stick when he hit you?
