About the spoilers; Referring to my previous post here as an example. . . I don't personally believe those are spoilers at all. It's information about a game yet to release, and it's actually officially released information by the developers, and not something leaked or whatever. That just doesn't constitute as a spoiler to me. Kind of like how Sakurai revealed almost everything about SSBIV prior to its release: Not to say I believe that was the best way to do things personally, but he wanted to prevent people getting spoiled more-or-less, so he revealed things early. That being said, I suppose I can respect that there are some differences in what is or what isn't a spoiler, I'm just letting people know my take on the matter.

More importantly, you guys beat me to it; Information coming this Friday! Since it's focusing on battles, I don't expect to hear anything mind-boggling, given that we already understand how the system works, more-or-less. Going into more detail on things like severing limbs and whatever, which I'm certain they will, would be great, though. Also, seeing a little more in-depth Doll combat would be pleasant, as that hasn't really been a focus at all yet. Lastly, I hope we get to experience some more of this games OST, because there are some themes in particular that I want to know.

Severing limbs is cool, but I still want to know about the melee. No more firing bullets and showing off daggers so I can make Fiora.

Haven't been in this topic in a while and saw XCX discussion so I wanted to catch up.

So, what's this about severing limbs and such? It was probably discussed in spoilers on one of the Reddit pages, which, since I'm on mobile lately, I can't view cause if I click it to see it immediately takes me to a 404 page not found page. And why was Elma being vaporized in that monster chase sequence? Can you not revive party members until after the fight ends or something?

This sounds hella n00bish and for that I'm sorry

can't have the true Fiora experience without drones, tho

:troll:

Really though drones would be neat, idk how to implement in a non-cyborg fighter though

I can't wait to see more of the intricacies of Xenonlade X's combat! Not only that, but I also cannot wait until I get to see how the cutest(human girl) in gaming fights!

Ganondorf is very excited.

I'm actually going to avoid this thread if people don't put Xenoblade X stuff in spoilers.
Sorry about that, if that included me. I figured that it wasn't too big of a deal and that the latest it would appear in-game is Tatsu's introduction.
I guess it spoils that one through the voice. that's part of how i figured it out
Everyone says they figured out Metal Face by the voice which really makes me kinda sad because I didn't figure it out until Prison Island :/

Maybe I'm just not observant when it comes to voices
So, what's this about severing limbs and such?
I think severing limbs is probably gonna deal with how you can attack joints in X. That's gonna be really interesting (imagine being under a giant enemy when you sever its last leg and it falls and kills you lol)

I forgot about Metal Face due to a huge time gap between Sword Valley and Prison Island. There's enough stuff that happens between Sword Valley and Colony 6, when Dunban joins, that a minor detail such as one character who was on screen for about maybe 10-20 minutes would probably be long forgotten. It only sparked in my head with Dunban's line, "He moves just like..." where I started thinking of everyone who Dunban knew that had claws.
One thing that the game did well was cater to my exploration need with the size of Colony 9 when I first got there.
"You're supposed to head into the town now."
"Hold on, I want to get all the blue orbs." Little did I know.

Yeessss. She is the cutest girl! <3 <3 <3

Though if we are being honest, due to the fact she uses a shield, I think it is almost safe to say she fights like Reyn.

Did you play Smash beforehand? I'd played Gaur Plains a couple of times and listened to all the voice clips in the sound test, so the moment the game started up and Mumkhar started talking I'm like "no, do not tell me that's Metal Face wtf. I must be mishearing." Obviously it was him, though. I basically figured it out the moment he gave his first line. This is actually what I was riding on for most of the game because I didn't remember anything about him other than the voice, lol (not even the claws; I vaguely remembered it at Dunban's comment). I do remember that at Prison Island when Dunban muttered "he moves just like..." I was high-fiving myself (even though it was really obvious). Once you figure out one of the Faces is Homs, the rest follow suit. Plus nobody in the game put two and two together. "Monado can't cut people. Monado can't cut Faced Mechon." Hmm. What could it mean?!?

Also to the guy on the previous page who mentions the NPC who wanted to learn Mumkhar's technique. How different would this game have been if Mumkhar found out he had a groupie? "Get the Monado? Attack Colony 9? Nah man, I'm not about that life anymore. Chillin' with my fans here."

Severing limbs would probably have been really useful for those giant spider-like Mechon. On the other hand, I thought they were really beautiful and majestic and I'd feel bad chopping off their limbs. Sometimes in game I felt bad for toppling enemies because they looked so sad and pathetic while toppling. It's especially hilarious when you finish toppling some big enemy during a chain attack and everyone just high fives each other while the enemy is sitting there sadly, looking at what life decisions led them to this place.

This game is still scheduled to come out April in Japan, right?

I got Xenoblade in, like, July. So there's that.

And people listen to voice clips? The only time I've ever done that is to show my friends Palutena's moaning (I think it's clips 12-17 or something, just switch between those and keep earbuds in)

Well, I listen to voice clips. I like sound tests. I also just adored Metal Face's voice acting and wanted to listen to the clips in isolation. Unfortunately they were all drowned in reverb like a Celine Dion record, so they weren't as clean as I'd have wanted them to be, but they were certainly listenable. I wanted to make sure that the voice actor's accent was English; I knew Shulk was but I wasn't sure about Metal Face because, you know, distortion + reverb + a whole bunch of fighting noises and background music = poor listening experience (for the record, the word that convinced me was "CAWNAGE"). As such, by the time I played Xenoblade I was really familiar with his voice; mine is probably not the normal experience, though.

EDIT: Wait, why were you showing your friends Palutena's moaning?

I sometimes go to the Sound Test to listen to them when I'm bored. I mostly listen to Shulk's, Robin's, Metal Face's, and Kirby's (mostly to hear his voice clips of copying Shulk and Robin :p).

Guys... have the consequences of this heart-to-heart been explored?

Riki: Yes! But also give [flowers] to wifeypon. It Nopon custom. Riki bring flowers home. Oka hang them on walls.
Sharla: So there’s more to you than food after all! You’re a good husband.
Riki: Riki not that good a husband!
Sharla: These flowers are such a lovely shade of blue, you know. I think they would suit Melia. How about you pick one for her? It could be a present.
Riki: Give to Melly?!
Sharla: [Wait a moment, Riki!] Now, Riki... I can see the glint in your eye! Don’t you go making Oka jealous!
Riki: Riki not make Oka more jealous! Oka already jealous because friends take Riki away from her!
Sharla: So you’d rather be at home with Oka?
Riki: ...
Sharla: Riki! The answer is 'Yes!'
Riki: Riki know Melly is Bird Lady... So Riki and Melly will only ever be good friends. Riki love Oka.
Sharla: You’re a good Nopon, Riki. Well then, I guess you’re in the clear! You know, Melia really does think of you as a dear friend.
Riki: Riki want to make Melly proud. Riki show Melly true Heropon!
Sharla: I'm sure you will. Just don’t forget you’re doing all this for Oka!
Riki, a 40 year old Nopon with like eleven kids, has thought about cheating on his wife with a High Entia in her eighties. And the deterring factor is that "Melly is Bird Lady." If Melia were a Nopon, she might have ended up the other woman. I guess this explains why he lets her rub his fur all the time.

That makes this quote all the more terrifying.

If Riki can’t eat it, Riki not interested!

I think you've gone a liiiiittle too far here. But I guess Riki prefers older women...No? Anyone?

Actually, wow! I've been considering this between the two for a while. Here's what made me suspect (A Mysterious Sanctuary at Frontier Village):
Riki: Ah! Riki know! Riki figure it all out!
Melia: What have you figured out, Riki?
Riki: I know who you think is extra especially special!
Melia: [You mean... you?]
Riki: Yes! Melly right! When Melly cuddle Riki, how Melly feel?
Melia: When I cuddle you... It feels warm, and calming. Like I can forget about everything!
Riki: Riki happy happy! That’s why Riki become Heropon! To be cuddled by Melly!
Melia: So that’s why. I see it now...
Riki: Melly and Riki both love cuddle! Melly can stroke Riki’s fur and cuddle Riki anytime!

Melia: That’s very kind of you, Riki. Make sure you look after your fur!
Riki: I know who you think is extra especially special!
Melia: [You mean... Shulk?]
Riki: Aaah! Oh no! Riki has a rival!

Melia: When I left Alcamoth, I was not aiming to meet anyone like Shulk. But when I met him, it felt like... it was destined.
Riki: Wow... So destiny make Melly meet Shulk!
Melia: Not just Shulk. Meeting all of you felt like fate. Including you, Riki!!
Riki: Riki is Melly’s destiny too? Yay! Woopee!
While before I was undecided, the heart to heart you quoted has definitely convinced me.

I also went and listened to all of Metal Face's voice clips in the sound test, I wanted to hear all of his smug one-liners, since he's such a prick in Xenoblade.
And I think(?) I've mentioned this before, but that was one of the things I was worried about with his inclusion. I believe a way they hide Metal Face = Mumkhar is that you don't hear the voice between the Prologue and the end of the Ether Mines. The reason he didn't talk during the Colony 9 attack was to play on that - Mumkhar might be a bit too fresh in our memories. I was thinking "People are going to pick out his voice..."
Oh, and for the record, I think I worked it out at about Alcamoth. Figured that Faces might actually be "of the Bionis", so the Monado wouldn't work. Had suspicions when Desiree says her father was a blacksmith but died in the war, confirmed it when she names "Xord's Smithy". When I was heading to Prison Island seeing Metal Face fly around I worked out it'd probably be Mumkhar, because of the claws. Then "Let's see if THIS jogs your memory!" / "He moves like...!", I went "Yep. I can't really remember Mumkhar's voice but it was really growl-y, he's Metal Face. I knew Mumkhar had to become relevant at some point."

Yeah, that was me that mentioned the claw-user  that'd be pretty funny. But after thinking about that, it feels kind of sad. Could it all have been avoided if he'd been given a little appreciation? Actually, probably not, pretty sure Dunban mentions in that Heart-to-Heart that he noticed how Mumkhar was and acted, but never suspected it ran that deep.

I got Xenoblade in, like, July. So there's that.

And people listen to voice clips? The only time I've ever done that is to show my friends Palutena's moaning (I think it's clips 12-17 or something, just switch between those and keep earbuds in)
EDIT: Wait, why were you showing your friends Palutena's moaning?
:4palutena::"You'd better not be thinking about anything... naughty." ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
(But yeah, serious question, why?)

About Riki, I heard that in at least one Heart-to-Heart he outright says that he has a crush on Melia. It may have been one of those. I dunno. But I always thought it was a thing.

I always feel so bad for Melia, as I have been in that position before... Plus I like ShulkXMelia way better than
ShulkXFiora
I mean, just think about Melia has gone through
She lost her entire race, she lost her brother, and she loses the hand of Shulk. The worst part about it, is that Melia deeply, deeply loves Shulk. I'd even go as far to say she has shown more of her love to Shulk than Fiora has. Shulk never noticed either as well(I don't really blame Shulk, because he is a bit daft when it comes to women), and that hurts Melia so much. Then, she gets hit on by a married nopon of all things? That is just weird for Melia, and it obviously makes her uncomfortable at times.
Poor Melia....

Well, no one cried a river for the loss of Marth x Tiki. Consider the fact that even though
she's probably much older physically than Shulk, she's still a little girl compared to him and
the discrepancy would only make itself more apparent as Shulk ages faster than her.

I just can't think of any way the developers could portray a love interest between the two without
making Shulk look like some sort of weirdo, especially after the Fiora shipping beforehand. Not to mention
she's kind of the whole reason Shulk embarked on the journey in the first place, so having him fall for another
girl in the middle of it wouldn't speak well of how Shulk thinks of women.

None of this makes it any less tragic for Melia, but I think trying to live a life with the boy she loved
would only ultimately makes things worse for her in the long run.

Yet another Xenoblade 3DS trailer. Well, you can't say that Nintendo hasn't been throwing it's marketing muscle behind the franchise recently. I'm still worried about sales numbers, though, since the New 3DS doesn't have a fantastic install base at the moment.

I like this trailer because it played Grandeur, one of the most beautiful soundtracks I've ever heard.

Are you kidding me? The launch for the New 3DS couldn't have gone better in my opinion. In my area, on Friday, I got the very last New 3DS in a 75 mile radius.... And I live by Chicago.... The New 3DS XL's are selling out all over America as well... This is about as big of an install base that you can get after this amount of time. I have also seen a variety of commercials and ads for the New 3DS in almost all forms of media... See Nintendo, this is what advertising does. Now go do that for the Wii U!

It's still a redesign of an existing system. There's no way it will sell as well as if it was 3DS game or even a launch game for a true 3DS successor.

It will be available to all who buy the 3DS's successor, of that I am sure. You are forgetting however, that the original Xenoblade only sold about 800,000 copies worldwide. The New 3DS has sold over 1.3 systems as of the end of last year. That is indeed not counting North America, of whom 60-70% of their sales come from. If I had to guess, the New 3DS has probably sold 2-3 million units so far, perhaps even 4 million. Thats more than enough of an install base to match and even beat out Xenoblade for the Wii. Especially since Shulk has gotten a ton of attention because of Smash, Chuggaaconroy, and other online personalities. Xenoblade Chronicles is going to do just fine.
Now the real problem is Xenoblade X. If nintendo doesn't advertise that game correctly, then it is going to undeniably be a flop. Let's hope for the best though....

They are already pushing hard for that game in Japan....super hard. It has had two directs all to itself, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

That's Japan, not in NA........ America is going to make or break this games sales. NoA has shown us it's incompetence when selling and advertising games as well. So yeah, I am kind of scared. Especially since we don't even know the voice actor for a single character for the English localization of the game. Even more so, the game comes out next month in Japan! Not only that, but Xenoblade X doesn't even have an English website!

Like I said, they have been pushing out trailers for Xenoblade 3DS, which isn't nearly as important of a game to them. I doubt NoA will drop the ball on this one, but who really knows.

Mmmmmm yes... They totally didn't drop the ball with Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2(Published by Nintendo, so they are in charge of advertising), Pikmin 3, and Wind Waker HD.
-_-
Nintendo does some stupid stuff............ Though I am really glad Nintendo struggled so much, believe it or not. It made Nintendo take risks like Hyrule Warriors, Splatoon, Mario Maker, and Captain Toad. That is a very good thing(especially on the Hyrule Warriors front).
I really dread the day that Xenoblade Chronicles X comes out in Japan..... Just knowing that the Japanese are going to be able to frolic and circle jerk in Planet Mira months before us makes me extremely sad.... Not only that, but story spoilers will be rampant among the internet. Of which, the whole game will be spoiled within 2 weeks at the latest, and it is going to be extremely hard to avoid spoilers.......
Why must you do this to us Monolith Soft!? Why can't you even give us a single voice actor, or even tell us whether it is going to be localized in NoA or NoE!?

GGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this just happened.

Context:
my VGM playlist is 177 songs. Among these I have all of the Xenoblade OST and all of the Smash CD soundtracks.
After listening to Full Steam Ahead (great song btw) it went to Xenoblade YWKON, then after that it went to Smash YWKON.
Reconsidering my life rn

I know that feel. I once had 3000+ songs on shuffle and it played Prologue A and Prologue B in sequence.
