Chowder and Mung Daal in MultiVersus base game - nothing gets removed, but it is kinda weird for such relatively-niche characters to be so early.

No, I wouldn't do it because I think Shovel Knight's powerset was more clearly usable as an Assist Trophy. But I wouldn't have been unhappy if they did put The Knight in.
All Star Smash changed from its current incarnation to an All-Star Mode like Melee/Brawl, but with more Heart Containers to make up for the much larger roster.
