Should I become a Snake main?

I've been contemplating doing this for quite a while now. Pit is great and all, and Snake is one of my secondaries, but Snake is just so awesome and some people refuse to play me because my main is so annoying. If I switch, it will be an incredibly difficult transition. But Snake is badass and Pit, as amazing as he may be, is sort of a pansy. Since I know everyone in a Snake forum is going to tell me to switch, I'd appreciate it if you guys would explain why I should. Snake's play style is very intriguing to me and I think once I make the transition I can be pretty formidable with him. I'd like to hear what you guys think.

I'm not jumping onto the bandwagon. I just really really love his play style. But I also enjoy Pit's play style. The difficulty of this decision is trying to figure out which style is more "me".

I say no. Pit as sooo many AT that will eventually destroy Snake.......I hope. And plus Snakes a pansy!!
Don't listen to Raider, Ryazan. He's very ignorant.

Anyway...

To Ryazan: I would just play with Snake for a while and see what you think. I think if you just read the stickies on the Snake boards, and get used to doing the techniques, Snake will be so much fun. But, it is pretty frustrating at first if you are transitioning from a much different character like Pit. If you really care that much about the complaints of the character that you use, just keep getting pushed around and change mains for the dumbest reasons. I don't listen to anyone who says harsh comments about Snake. The Metal Gear series has always been my favorite game series and I'm probably going to use him until this game dies out. You should just tell whoever you face to live with it. Because, either way, someone will complain about either Pit or Snake. Their complaints just show that they are...how can I put this...noobs. It just makes them sound stupid because their complaints are just plain dumb. (OMG I hate Pit because he looks too young and gay.) I've seen this comment so many times. First of all, it's offensive and, second, its a shallow way to explain why the character is annoying or bad.

Just stick up for the character you use. Don't be changing mains just because someone else hates who you use.

if u feel confortable with snake then do it
im ok w/ snake but i feel snake as a very uncomfortable character to use
if u think it suits u more than pit then do it and leave pit as a secondary

If you're fine with being forced to get better at mind games, being handed up to 6 projectiles/attacks that are separate from your body, ridiculous priority/range, large amounts of damage-dealing attacks, and a sub-par air game, among other things, go ahead and switch.

If Snake will be your main, nothing about that will change lol. It's your choice, you don't need other people to decide who you want to play as anyway :)

I say if you are actually good with him than go for it. Snake is awesome.

EDIT: Why don't you main both Snake and Pit? I have four mains and I do fine. (Lucario, Zelda, Mr. G&W, and Snake)

Do you like Snake as a character?

If yes, play as Snake.

If no, play as Snake and get on the wagon.

Snake does have some overpowering moves. Heck, even his weakest moves pack a wallop. He's quite good if you want to main him.

Sorry, it was a slow friday night and the GDorf boards are dead. So here is my real contribution to the thread:

If you really like field control, and getting the enemy to dance along to your tune, Snake is your man. He does have a ton of things he can do in response to a situation, so if you become a button masher under stress, I wouldn't reccomend it. But if you do, just make sure to spam the ftilt and utilt.

Well I guess you would have to lurk around the Pit forums a lot to learn about his mindgames. Wingdashing, arrow stalling, you name it. He's got tons of stuff.

On a relevant note, I've decided to remain a Pit main and second Snake. I considered maining both but I prefer not to because it will be more difficult to excel as either one of them. So...yeah.

I tried to become a Snake main (because he's the best character of course) but I couldn't handle his style. I now main Meta Knight (because he's the best character when not playing Snake of course) who is easier to learn. If you don't want to spend tons of time practicing, Snake isn't for you. Otherwise, join the club of like, a million people.

He takes that long to practice? I don't get it. What about him takes that long to master? >.>

I dig snake because the play style i use for him literally keeps me from doing what makes me lose:getting to antsy and rushing in.
with snake, i can think about what im gonna do without any recklessness.

why does this thread even exist...
Does anyone else hate when people say that? I was just trying to decide whether I should change mains and I wanted someone else's input. If you have a problem with that, gtfo and cry to your mommy.

Main Snake if you plan on winning tournaments. He has a higher skill ceiling than most characters. Also, omgimbawtfnerfplz.
