Chang-sta has been doing this for years with great success (especially against Xelic, who seems to be attracted to many things which are flaming). 'Round these parts, we call it the Bankai (Bleach reference, for those among you who are nubs). It's definitely something which more Falco players should use, particularly when fighting floaty characters. It's avoidable if you know what you're doing, but as it happens, most people don't.

Heh, yeah, Chang made this popular to Texas Falcos since way back when this game was Super Smash Brothers Not Every One And Their Brother Brags About Their Tech Skill.

Nobody gives a **** about technical skill, unless it's something that's ****ing amazing.

If not watching Bleach makes me a noob...then **** it feels good to be a noob.

Anyway, shine and upB have helped me a lot...a lot of times.

I like to do them separately, shine to something else, and then Up-B when you need to recover.

I think all Falco's should start using Shine > JC Grab, Shine > UpB, and Usmashes. Falco's Usmash is great for comboing when used at the right percentage since it's not too strong nor too weak.

nice. forward did this to me when we played; i was like 'wtf!?' lol.

also i'm pretty sure you can up-b directly out of a shine without jumping out. not sure though, but it's faster if i'm correct.

If you're on the ground, you can up-B without using your jump, even though technically you're still jumping, but the firebird would start during the lag time of Falco's jump. If you're in the air, since aerial jumps all occur on the first frame (I think), it's not possible to up-B and not jump.

It is possible to press up and B at the same frame, therefore you're not "jumping". And After you up B you don't have a second jump to begin with, so there's no real way to tell if you still have a jump.

Slowly starting to enjoy my mothertongue again. :)

You have to jump to cancel the shine. The midair jump takes one frame, and since you can't input two things at the same time (jump and b), you have to jump before you up b.

lmao

Yea I wasn't in the correct context, I didn't know he was talking specifically a jump cancelled shine.
