Oh and again to let someone on her know that back before Min Min was decided to be the playable ARMS character Mr. Sakurai himself wanted Ninjara to be the playable character. So at the end of the day no matter what the "Spirits deconfirm" rule was going to be broken.

Anyway let's all continue to support Shantae for a 1000 pages AND BEYOND!!!!

Anyone want to talk about how the Wetman species was fleshed out in Seven Sirens? Besides showing up way more than usual, we also learned they can morph their bodies into liquid, an ability shared by their also newly discovered females. They might even have a cousin in the Muck creatures. I wonder what recurring species will end up being developed further next?

They could flesh out the merpeople since Giga Mermaid was freed a while back

Wrong. Sakurai was considering Min Min AND Ninjara. He never said that he wanted him specifically.

Sure, most fans of Shantae are older anyway, but the rating does limit the potential new player base a bit, since you wouldn't get much kids playing the game. Unless they sneaked it past their parents somehow.
An M rating would be more hindering, which I know won't happen with this series, so it's not really something to worry about

Do you guys seriously think age ratings matter? Or even hinder the player base in any way?
If that were the case, games like Call of Duty wouldn't be infested with little brats, as they evidently are.

Pretty sure that series has been losing steam since they decided to put the series into space. A lot of players hated it

The point is: If kids want to get a certain game, then they'll get it and age ratings won't stop them.
Which is proven by mature games like Call of Duty and similar games having a player base that largely consists of children.
Even if they're not supposed to play them, according to the age ratings.

I don't think a lot of people take age ratings seriously.
Especially if the ESRB pulls questionable things, like giving games like Pokemon Red and Blue a higher rating, due to the in-game casino.
And yet games with more severe kind of gambling, aka lootboxes and microtransactions, are rated E for everyone.

Yeah, half the time parents just don't look at the age ratings, they just get whatever the kiddos want then get mad at the mature content in the game they bought for their kid. CoD is proof of that.

The Western side of Pop Star.
In any case, the series masters the use of mixed messages, even the TV Tropes article is confused now.

What Do You Mean, It's for Kids? / What Do You Mean Its Not For Kids: The Shantae series has a bit of an odd relationship with the concept of target demographic, with creator Matt Bozon stating in regards to the first game that it's "too sexy to be a kid's brand, and too girly for a male gamer brand." As a whole, the franchise mixes a cute art style and simple, lighthearted stories with odd bits of dark humor, many jokes that would go over a child's head, and a bevy of sexy character designs. The best comparison for the game's tone might be Betty Boop: broadly speaking, it's all-ages friendly, but there's a lot that would make you pause at giving the games to a kid to play. Later games are an aversion for this, going from E10+ to a Teen rating, meaning they're not for children anymore.

Evidently, you can tell he would have wanted to put both of them in at once, otherwise Ninjara wouldn't have gotten a Mii costume.

As long as GM herself is set aside, otherwise we'll get a T rating again.
Can't she just dress more conservatively if that's an issue? It can't take much if completely uncovered nubs on the rank-and-file mermaids pass.

Exactly. That, and Shantae's spirit got in unchanged alongside Risky Boots, so it's unlikely her outfit would change if she became playable in Ultimate

On that note, I have no idea what would prompt a reappearance from her. So far we've had several one-shot characters that didn't come back for no particular reason. No idea if WF will pull an Eiichiro Oda either.
I'm thinking it's a case of world building

So I expect the Jins to come back into the story in the game when we finally get to see Shantae's mother. For those who didn't know, Jins were originally suppose to be the bad guys in the scrapped PS1 version of the original Shantae.

I imagine they would be brought back eventually

Jins would make for interesting villains.
And it would definitely be a smart use of scrapped concepts, to make sure they don't go to waste.

However, I still have no reason to believe they will ever reveal her mother.
Half-Genie Hero didn't do it, with the story directly tied to the Genie's and its Realm.
So yeah, it's an eternal tease.
And you're only setting yourself up for disappointment.

Why obsess over her mother in the first place?

Oh yeah I saw that design around. I guess I'm glad they didnt got with it, though purple hair would've probably made it good enough. ;p
The fact the tiger form was never brought back is still kinda disappointing

To be fair, the Tiger was never a transformation.
In the original concept, the only transformation Shantae had was the Harpy Form.
All other animals were summons, not transformations.

It would have been awesome. Though had Shantae started on the PlayStation, it's unknown if the franchise would be where it is today. Nintendo kind of helped WayForward quite a bit setting up Risky's Revenge originally as a DSIWare exclusive, greatly advertising Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse on the Eshop when WayForward only had the franchise on Nintendo systems at the time before they went multiplatform with it. Nintendo helped WayForward make Shantae the big Indie star she is today because without Nintendo's help with advertising the games, it's unknown if Shantae would be as popular as she is today.

Pirate's Curse was also prominently featured on the penultimate issue of Nintendo Power
