Barely anything was talked about after that E3 one because smash pretty much covered have the event. If anything the Nindie direct will have just a 2 minute trailer at the end. I don't think that would make everyone forget the 15+ minutes before hand

The sad fact of the matter is that they barely get discussion to begin with. Really, how many people do you think actually show up to see indie games to begin with, let alone even remember them after they've been announced, regardless of what type of direct. Not tryna be mean, just real talk.

I just find it especially odd that we've only had 4 Nindie directs ever. There has always been 3-5 months between them and they are usually announced the same day they air. Why announce this one 4 days in advance and only one week after the previous one? Some people think it is just going to be the EU Nindie but for the US but that doesn't make much sense considering they have never done this before and most of the games they showed off in the Nindie last week were either already out or were given a global release date. Especially considering these are only aired on the internet so having the same information copy and pasted for directs in multiple countries seems pointless, especially if both directs are in English.

I'm keeping my expectations low and I'm not expecting any Smash news in the Direct, although I do think that showing off Shantae as a playable character in Smash would be a perfect way for Nintendo to show the indie developers some love. It would be a nice way to acknowledge them.

And if I were an Indie developer, I'd be stoked that my game was in the same Direct as a Smash announcement. That'll automatically bring people to watch it.

I won’t buy the game if they pick Sans over Shantae. That would be the biggest **** move that Sakurai has ever made, even moreso than putting Corrin or Smash Tour in Wii U.

One way Nintendo could prevent this problem is by doing a small scale trick reveal like they did with Inkling as opposed to a full cinematic reveal like K. Rool, Simon and Ridley. A possible scenerio would be them showing what would appear to be a scene from the recent Jammies mode. Shantae could be hanging out with her HGH friends at a slumber party and there is a knock at the door and when Shantae opens it Mario, Link and Kirby walk inside.

None? Hollow Knight on Switch blew up and was heavily discussed on a lot of places I follow.

If she isn't revealed in any form here, PLEASE do not go flaming or interrogating WayForward or Matt asking for answers.

At the end of the day this is all our own speculation and theories, and they don't deserve to deal with backlash from an imaginary scenario we created.

I'll be honest that I'd be 100% fine with an assist trophy. I recognize the hurdles that 3rd party charaters face to be playable and for a character like Shantae to even make it as an assist is a huge step for her.

1. Look at what other leakers are saying.
2. Pick out consistent details.
3. Throw in a bunch of crap that would never happen.

Hell, they'd only need to show the Smash fireball and have it fade out, only a second or two later have Shantae say "I'm Ret-2-Go!". That would be great even without seeing her, just a nod to say she's made it.

I agree! I was rooting for Shovel Knight, and I was really surprised to even see him in the game at all. It was actually kind of surreal. I wouldn't mind this for Shantae as well. It would be a real shame if she didn't receive any sort of representation whatsoever in this game...
