Reminder, unless she's shown as an assist trophy, it's not over until it's over. While I'm sure most of us aren't expecting Shantae to be revealed tomorrow, it's not over if she doesn't show up.

Well I would even go as far as to guarantee that she won't be revealed in a Nindies direct.

That would put too much pressure on Nintendo in the future: because then every future Nindies direct would have unrealistic expectations tied to them.

If Shulk can be revealed at a Japan-only 3DS focused direct then Shantae can be revealed at a USA only Indie focused direct.

Plus, I don't see how it would overshadow it. People would have to sit through the entire stream in order to see the reveal at the end, being shown all the new indie games coming out.

Nah. I think of this reveal in the Nindies as being the cross-field hail-mary throw that would surprise literally everybody. She could still be revealed in a bog-standard Direct and it would make perfect sense.

To be fair, this is pretty much a Nindie Direct that happens to take place in the middle of a Smash cycle. Hype is kind of a given.

Personally I don't think tomorrow's Nindie's direct affects Shantae's chances. The direct is focused on Indie games so I think it would make sense for them to not want to talk about Smash during it. A lack of a playable Shantae announcement won't mean she isn't in the game. Granted I don't think she's in the game anyway (which hurts to admit) but still.

Ehhh i still dont think showing a trailer at the end is going to ruin the rest of the nindie announcements happening. They are still getting prime time showings, and and heck people will watch the direct afterwards to see all of them.

I just feel like most are on the "this is her chance" train, when it's realistically unlikely she would be shown here over a real direct or official "Character reveal" announcement like with Robin

Pretty much how I felt when the new Smash was first announced. Before "EVERYONE IS HERE", I was just waiting to find out that my girl Lucina was cut. I could only think "She's just Marth without the tipper, there's no way they're going to keep her around." I was counting on her and Cloud(for licensing reasons) getting cut. Of course, then there was my hope of Krystal making it in...and Fox's trailer showed her as a blatant AT and my heart broke. Between that and Shovel Knight being an AT, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. Besides, this game is already the hypest game ever. The Half Genie Hero would just be a delicious cherry on top of the best sundae ever made.
