Like others have said, Shovel Knight only has one game to his name so far. Could get more in the future, but right now, they've been focusing more on giving the first game updates. Shantae headlines a franchise. I think she always had a better chance than Shovel Knight. And it wouldn't be the first time a "unknown" character made it into Smash. Ness wasn't a household name when Smash 64 came out. Marth wasn't when Melee came out. And who remembered Kid Icarus when Brawl was on the horizon?

Not really. It's not really all or nothing since there are plenty of reasons why she would not show up, so it is not really an all or nothing scenario. It only really ends if she is assisted, and even then there is possible DLC.

I completely agree with you, Sakurai has stated that most of the new characters were added due to the Ballot results, you know i'm talking about Chrom, Dark Samus and K. Rool.

Geno and Isaac were also the crème de la crème during the ballot, so i could visualize them as the last 2 characters revealed for the base roster, and then showing other fan-favorites like Shantae, Banjo and Kazooie and possibly Rayman as DLC to fully complete the roster and make everyone happy.

True. They could always do the DLC package deal, "buy it for this price, get 3 characters for this amount cheaper then buying them solo." They could always add a character that people can easily recognize in a package deal.

Also Geno and Issac doesn't have to be in the same package either for DLC if that worries you.

EDIT: Smash is one of the best places to go, "who the hell is that character?" and proceeds to look up said character to learn who are they.

Nindies direct spurred a lot of discussion I guess. My take on the direct tomorrow is we really shouldn't expect anything at all Smash related, and even a new Shantae game announcement is unlikely.

BUT, it is possible, and if we get a Shantae title revealed that is exclusive, then we should probably get very excited about Smash too

Agreed, please remember this is a Nindies Direct and more than likely Smash could take away from the Nindies shown. Keep your hype realistic bois, but let's hype no less.
