Well guys I did it. I bought the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate + Fighter Pass Digitally. I will sell the physical copy for 50 dollars when it gets here.

Say hello to Shantae, the Guardian Genie of Scuttle Town, well Half-Genie to be precise. She can whip her hair to attack her foes and she can transform into different animals by channeling her genie powers through belly-dancing.

Man that’s gotta put a lot of strain on your neck.
So if she’s a Half-Genie, would she still be able to do the whole three wishes thing or can she only grant one and a half?

I mean I’m more of a town-guarding genie than a wish-granting one, but yeah I don’t think that’s how that works.

This is good, but I have a few issues with it.

- Shantae doesn't speak with her rogues gallery in the middle of a fight. Not to say I object to Shantae speaking at all here, it's just not quite the same as Uprising.

- No mortal is supposed to be able to hear the goddesses speaking. They only hear Pit's side as seen with Magnus, or in Smash when they're on the sidelines and presumably in the same physical location as the goddesses. Now, being a half-genie could let her somewhat hear the goddesses talking, so I think the better icebreaker here would be loudly asking who Pit is talking to and where the voices are coming from. At that point the goddesses ''open the channel'' so to speak.

- Given the things Shantae transforms into, you'd think Viridi would go a little more in-depth on them, being that nature and animals are her field of expertise.

- And personally, I'd like to hear more about their shared interests in hot baths and eating.

Chrom could butt in because he was sitting on the sidelines waiting for Robin to get a Smash Ball, presumably it was the same place the goddesses were watching. Shantae is on the battlefield and thus shouldn't be able to hear the telepathic conversation normally. I see it more as the goddesses themselves being surprised at seeing her react to what they say.

I could also see an alternative guidance with Rottytops doing the exposition if you don't abide by the genie divinity theory. She does have a knack for sneaking into places she shouldn't be in after all.

Also, if you're scared of bathing shipping... just disallow mixed bathing and turn it into a conflict of who gets to go first.

I feel like if there was any fighter that could converse with the Uprising crew (Bayonetta doesn’t have character portraits) it’d be Shantae. And I feel like in a game where Pit was about to check Isabelle’s collar but admits in his Star KO that he can’t read or where Chrom can be a fighter AND Final Smash, this doesn’t seem like it’d be that unreasonable.

Not a fan of the How to Play remix tbh. It sounds like they tried to force the idea of making it sound more "intense" or "epic", and overall I don't think it delivers on that front. The choir just doesn't fit imo.

Honestly, I was hoping for Pit to let it slip that he's developing a crush on Shantae, with Viridi (realizing Pit is into some girl who physically looks as old as him) yelling at Pit to take her down immediately, and Palutena would tease her over it.

So I don’t know if you saw the new Palutena’s Guidance they did for Zelda since she has a new design, Pit is smitten by her and Viridi is the one to tease him about it. So I could see her being the one teasing Pit and Shantae as well:

I feel like if there was any fighter that could converse with the Uprising crew (Bayonetta doesn’t have character portraits) it’d be Shantae. And I feel like in a game where Pit was about to check Isabelle’s collar but admits in his Star KO that he can’t read or where Chrom can be a fighter AND Final Smash, this doesn’t seem like it’d be that unreasonable.

It may just be a coincidence regardless, so let's keep expectations in check.

Speaking of which, Battle Princess Madelyn got delayed for a week when it was supposed to release on the day of the VGAs, in hindsight it would've been lost in the hype, so that's fortunate timing.
