Wait a minute, have people completely abandoned me, just because of what I've said about Connor?

If so, well then that's absurd. If there is any other reason people have been refraining from speaking to me, I'd really like to know...
O i just thought you left to do better things and rave in the grave.

I would post more about other things that come to mind but honestly I don't want to derail the thread about non Shantae stuff.

Hi Kirbeh. :)

How are you?
And, um, is that supposed to be a reference to Ghostbusters, or something? I don't fully understand what you mean? :p
It's a reference to Twitch and Vinegar crossing the beams of light that shine off their bodies in Pirate's Curse, which is in turn a reference to Ghostbusters.

And the context of me bringing it up in the first place is in reference to wademan bringing up edits of the beams from World of Light, because the first thing that came to mind was the aforementioned scene in Shantae.

And since crossing the beams/streams is "all life as you know it, stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light", it kind of fits with Galeem's attack, except I imagined it as Twitch and Vinegar stripping down and accidentally crossing the beams again being the cause instead.

Its funny how wrong he is about shantae. first off, NO ONE KNOWS THE ACTUAL BALLOT RESULTS! We can guess all we won't but only nintendo and sakurai know the actual results of every character. To say Shovel knight did better is just guess work and from even that it seems wron. most polls I see have shantae higher then shovel knight, so he is talking out his butt.

Sakurai also said no echos, so that frog thing from Rayman is total BS.

Sora yes is more likely then Geno, but Dragon quest is more likely then both, if we are looking stricktly business like this "leak" is saying.

Also Waluigi? really? Not happening. Nintendo would not pick him based on the fans. he would happen if nintendo had more plans for him, and I doubt they do. Plus, its obvious nintendo knows the loud majority of those waluigi fans are a bit trollish. Yes I know there are true fans out there and I want him too, but a lot of the voice comes from the trolls.
Been strolling through the Geno thread lately, and they raised an interesting counterpoint to Dragon Quest representation being more likely; it is indeed massive in Japan... and only in Japan. Sales of any title outside there are comparatively abysmal. Now it's easy to believe Nintendo might not care about that, but they do. Marth & Roy almost didn't make it into the western versions of Melee until playtesters spoke against it, and in Lucas's case it was believed Mother 3 would get localized.

Nintendo may favour japanese perception overall, but they won't include playable characters that are only known and well-liked there unless they are fairly certain western audiences will like them anyway. Global appeal is a priority, and thankfully that's something Shantae has been earning recently.

I figured you were just bringing up the Saliva Island scene when you said crossing, I didn’t realize all the whole double meaning with the Smash beams thing, now I feel silly.

It only popped up in my head because I was curious what scenes you were referring to for edits involving WoL. Saliva Island just happened to be the first thing that came to mind.

If any of the scenes you're referring to are from HGH though, please omit them. I still haven't played it...

But I'm getting a Switch this month finally! So soon, not yet, but soon.

My growing Switch library has been taunting me from my shelf for months now.

Wait, if I may ask, which Switch games do you already own, exactly? :p

Also, congrats on 1,000 posts!

Look who’s backpedaling right now

This definently raises some red flags for this one lets all just ignore him

And remember what sakurai said about 3rd party’s

The character must carry game history with them.

“Besides that, it might be something like a courtesy to include a character who has the experience of being on a Nintendo platform.
At any rate, there will probably only be one or two more.”

You should've been me when the Wii first came out. Can't tell ya how much taunting Twilight Princess was giving me daily until I was finally able to snag a Wii. Since then, I've refused to buy a console at launch.

Just making a scenario, so don't take it seriously.

If she does get in as part of the Fighters Pass for the selected 5, what would you picture the people's take on her appearance upgraded from a support spirit?

Honestly leakers kinda just bug me. The whole point of spreading out the reveals is to keep the element of surprise. To have those crazy community reactions like Ridley and K.Rool and keep people on their toes and wondering.

Having some "insider" leak the roster, while feeding people's curiosity, overall ruins the experience not only for the people who want to be surprised but to the developers who actually worked on the damn thing and wanted to announce it on their terms with flashy visuals and music rather than some text/pictures.

Fortunately since we just got over the emotionally draining Grinch leak I don't think the Smash community will be latching on to any leaks any time soon.

You put in Tassel Town but YOU DIDN'T ADD SKY BRIDGE?!
-2/10 worst list. Disliked, reported and blocked have a nice day.

I swear I've seen the same exact song list posted somewhere and it was for Smash Bros. Did you post this on GameFAQs or the Half-Genie Hero kickstarter?
No, I have posted it on this thread before but not in either of those sites before.

I mean I wanted to keep the PC to HGH songs even, if I add that to the list, do you have another PC song that’d fit a 3D Land styled traveling stage like my idea for Burning Town?

EDIT: Never mind, I got one.

This is from me tonight.

Hope for Shantae and the Geno fans to see if their wishes are granted in the near future.

I think the first half of this comic was posted here before.

Not bad dude, what do you imagine the stage would be like? Like I mean the layout and gimmicks?

Propeller Town and On the Wide Open Waves come to mind mainly for keeping the upbeat music consistent.

Troublesome Trek and Challenge Accepted also but that's mainly a personal bais.

Honestly there's a lot to pick from because PC's OST is just, really good.
Actually one of my original ideas was since Propeller Town and Troublesome Trek are remixes of the Day and Night Travel themes from the original GBC game, to put those two songs together one after the other since my idea for Shantae’s stage starts out with the lighthouse and sunnier half of Scuttle Town transitioning into the on-fire part of the town and finally Risky’s ship before looping back around so the songs would be timed with those transitions.

Now, my idea was that the stage wasn't going to be entirely centred around Spiderweb Island, but also take elements from all of the other "spooky" locations from throughout the series. Hypno Baron's Castle, Zombie Caravan, Mud Bog Island, etc. The main layout, and aesthetics of the stage though, would be mainly based on Spiderweb Island.

I was thinking that the stage could contain multiple different enemies (maybe an amount, similar to Dracula's Castle). Ikki, the Slimegals, Ghosts, Zombies, "Those Purple-y, Bouncing Gooey Things on Mud Bog Island"...
I could also see Rotty's Wagon becoming a stage hazard, functioning similarly to King Bulbin on the Bridge of Eldin stage, rocketing across the stage, with Poe at the reins. :p
hi there ! did I miss something big ? :D
Hey Majesty! How're you?

And, no, not really. Things have been pretty uneventful around here...

Ehhhh, not really. Cloud actually has history with Nintendo before and after his Smash inclusion.
When you say, "Cloud has history with Nintendo", can you clarify what you are referring to? I know of only two appearances by Cloud on Nintendo consoles prior to his Smash debut:
  • Cloud is a recurring boss across a few Kingdom Hearts games, one of these being Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, a GBA game.
  • Cloud also appears in Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, a FF spin-off rhythm game. In fact, the playable cast is composed of chibi versions of all the main protagonists from the FF series up through FF13.
That's two fairly minor appearances, more cameos really. To say that he has "history with Nintendo" may technically be true, but it's also true then that he has very little history with Nintendo. That is, of course, unless there is some more significant connection between Cloud and Nintendo that I am unaware of, in which case I would very much be interested to know about it.

Granted, the FF series itself does have significant ties to Nintendo, but we are talking about Cloud specifically here.

Apologies for the old meme but...

Alright I could definitely see that happening, seems like it’d be a fun stage. Also those things I believe are just called “Mud Bog Creatures” BTW.

Oh have you been working on your moveset ideas for Rottytops? I know you wanted to create your own thread about that, but I think if you’re far enough along to be comfortable showing your ideas off, I think you should post them here first. I’m sure nobody would mind, maybe we could give you some constructive feedback.

I'm a sucker for transitioning backgrounds of any sort like FD and Gaur Plains so that definitely sounds like a fun concept

One idea for the stage I have is a stationary stage in Scuttle Town but it would eventually be attacked by either Risky or Ammo Baron, cause the town to light up and bring different hazards. Risky would shoot cannonballs from the background. with Tinkerbats popping out onto the stage and Ammo Baron would send his soldiers from above to shoot stuff and throw grenades.

Admittedly I’m just copy-and-pasting from Smashwiki but:

“As Final Fantasy VII became the best-selling and most recognized game in its series, Cloud is widely considered the most famous Final Fantasy character. Despite the unconnected nature of each main game, Cloud is often used to represent the franchise as a whole.”

Sakurai even admits in an interview that even though he had the chance to go for characters like Bartz or Terra, he feared they wouldn’t be as recognizable and well known as Cloud. Even if he specifically doesn’t have much history with Nintendo, Final Fantasy does and Cloud is there to represent Final Fantasy as a whole. I think this debate should be put to rest.

I have those Risky hazards in my stage idea as well and Tinkerbats throwing torches creating those moving pillars of fire and popping out of barrels. I compared my stage idea to 3D Land instead of Mushroomy Kingdom or PAC-Land because the stage, while sidescrolling, also has two areas where it stops, one in the middle of town where Tinkerbats are causing platforms to pop in and out (this is where the town would catch on fire) and while onboard Risky’s ship which take the stage back around to the lighthouse.

Um, maybe not just yet, I still haven't finished with her moveset, but I'll make sure to post it here once everything's sorted out. :)
Sounds good dude, I’ll try to provide any feedback when you do.

Even as someone who hasn't played much FFVI and loves FFVII, I would've preferred Terra over Cloud.
