Oh, definitely Dance Through the Danger. In my opinion it'd be a perfect theme for a Smash reveal.

If it's Dance Through The Danger, it'll likely be an instrumental remix since I don't think any of the smash trailers have had a song with lyrics yet. I think Dance Through The Danger would be a lot more hype to hear imo.

Also I have no idea what song I'd give her for her victory theme that's not from the Shantae series. Literally the only things I listen to are anime openings and video game OSTs haha. I can't really think of any that fit the sort of Arabian techno feel that Shantae does. I guess that means Jake Kaufman and virt did their jobs well haha.

My only problem with the transformation dance in HGH was that she wasn't doing much actual dancing. Don't get me wrong, 'dem hips don't lie, but a little variety would've been very nice.

Honestly I think the best solution should have been do the ring system from Secret of Mana. You press the button to start dancing, then you have 4 directions to do, each giving a different dance move: Land Animals, Sea Animals, Air Animals, and Other/Magic dances. And then those each have 4 transformations to them, doing a slightly different end pose dance to give her many unique dances.

So if we look at Half Genie Hero, Monkey, Spider, Elephant, and mouse would be in land form; Harpy, Bat, and Tinkerbat(has a hover) would be in air form, Mermaid, and Crab would be in sea form, then Obliterate/monkfish, Dryad/Vase, Warp, and Heal/Tank would be in other. This leaves room for other transformations in the future too. Like the Succubus form for another sky, or combine Water with underground, move mouse there, and add Mole or something to that as well.

Maybe tapping B again gives a 5th option, so Land, Sea, Air, Ground, and Magic, for a bunch of different dances for the future. You keep the fastness of the menu, but its also a dance and each form is a different dance so it looks better.

Considering how many people think it represents either Skull Kid or Waluigi...not gonna lie, the salt would be glorious. I personally don't buy the whole argument that the Moon being an AT means that Skull Kid can't be one and Waluigi is 100% totally confirmed for real as an AT and you can't convince me that he should be playable. That is a character that I will never understand why people want him outside of meme material. No offense to any Waluigi supporters in here, I just don't see it.

Given that I thought it would represent Wario characters, I'd be beyond fine with this alternative.

Well that's not exactly true, there were a couple of little hints back during Smash 4 days with Shulk and one for Bayonetta also although they weren't really cryptic. I think they were both tweets that he sent out. I think he's definitely leaving hints this time around. He tweeted that picture that looks like a battle from golden sun and I doubt the background of the room for these directs is made by accident. (Why in the world would he have a barrel and a rope ladder behind him?). I know it seems silly, and smash fans are generally wary about getting there hopes up but at a certain point you have to notice all these things. There's a big graphic circling around with all the things pointing at skull kid. Personally I think Skull Kid is in for sure and I feel Isaac is pretty likely too.

Based on this thread, here's what I've gathered as the "evidence" pointing towards Shantae's chances. Obviously I'm still keeping my expectations low, but I can see why she would get in over Shovel Knight and other indie characters.

Her long history with Nintendo
She's a much more expressive character
Her popularity in both Japan and the West
Moveset potential
Sakurai's meeting with WayForward
WayForward's radio silence when they were so vocal last time. NDA?
Shantae not appearing in Smash inspired indie fighting games. Maybe Nintendo had a contract with WayForward?
Jammies mode trailer clearly taking inspiration from Smash trailers
Jammies mode dropping hints - Ultimate Slumber Party
The chairs and pillows in Sakurai's office could hint at her as well as Skull Kid
Her performance in the Ballot and other Smash polls

All of those are good signs, and if she's not in the base roster or isn't an AT, I'm convinced she'll be a DLC character.

It's not a certainty, just a theory. JamesPopStar on Twitter, a major dev at WayForward, uploaded an image back in 2015/16 that basically was a picture of him with Sakurai. We have no context from him as to when it was taken or where except for at the bottom of the tweet it tagged the location at Santa Clarita, CA. This only means that's where the photo was uploaded and not where it was taken.

We're actually not quite sure of the context here. We just know that they were indeed together at some point mid-late 2015. James posted about the Smash Ballot in the same tweet.

The reason why we're suspecting something is that we have proof on multiple fronts that the ballot was designed for Smash Ultimate from the beginning, and not Smash 4 (in addition to radio silence from WayForward regarding Shantae and Smash) from late 2015 forward). Data-mining Bayonetta and Cloud info on Smash 4 that existed before ballot conclusion. Plus Sakurai explicitly mentioned how he's referred to the ballot for characters like K. Rool.

I believe this is misinformation (been discussed before in another thread). Unless anyone can provide a credible source that Sakurai met with Wayforward at some point.
