HOWEVER we've also had 60,000 fake leaks up to this point, last week everyone was convinced that Vergeben was the holy light and savior of the Smash speculation fanbase and now it's the Grinch? All I'm saying is these things are not set in stone and I'm personally not giving up till Dec 7th.

You shouldn't be giving up on December 7th. For one, we'll know the full roster before then. And more importantly, even after the game launches, there's still potential via DLC.

And even if she is an AT, there is no guarantee she cant be promoted. We don't know their stance on assist trophies becoming fighters, and the only thing we can go on is the Smash Ballot, which was more or less a test of DLC than anything

Jokes aside, the images in question involve an actual French company that works in advertising, and that includes work with Bandai Namco. The employee who's name was in the image has also been identified.

There are also advertising materials for the new Grinch that can be seen. If its fake, then we have to assume this person created fake promotional material for the Grinch to go along with a Smash leak which while still technically possible is extremely unlikely.

Thus far, the renders of the supposed newcomers appear to be completely new. There's also an image of the background without any of the characters as well which we haven't seen before either.

There's more to it, and there'll likely be more (for and against it mind you) as people dig, but for now that's what I remember off the top of my head.

True. He could be a legit employee who is using his position to sell off something fake of his own alongside something real to create the illusion of credibility. I still doubt this scenario, but it's still something to consider.

That said wasn't this leaked by someone else? iirc it was from a private snapchat and whoever he decided to trust was not worthy of said trust. Though still their fault for thinking they could post to a friend on discord. However I'm not 100% certain or convinced of this particular account either.

i suppose it'll just be best if we wait for the dust to settle first. The amount of people digging into it and speculating may be muddying up the details further.

Can someone who actually uses or has Snapchat help me out with a question? In the leak image we see information in the top left in the two images that looks to have been written over with a black marker in order to block out the info however it isn't solid black, instead it has some bleedthrough as though it was written over with an actual marker. Reports say this image came from Snapchat so does Snapchat have a marker feature that would work like an actual marker? I don't use it but I would have thought that it would just be a solid black color? If it doesn't can anyone explain why it might be the way it is? The only thing I could think is that someone printed out the image took a marker over the info and then scanned/took a photo of that page and uploaded it.

First of all, abandoning Shantae is a no-no. Thats like leaving the cutest, most precious child at the doorstep of Grelod the Kinds orphanage. Truly unforgivable.

Second, i've said it before...assist trophy is not a death sentence. Ashley, Midna, and Knuckles....and even Waluigi... could still possibly be fighters, as we do not know Sakurai's stance on promoting fighters during a single games era.

I will forever reference Pokken Croagunk to remind people of this.

I'd say that this leak actually boosts her chances at being in, because since they had covered up all of the fan favorites except for her, then no other character would steal her spot as DLC

In the leak, the far left side has so much spac between the characters compared to the res. Whoever did it started form the right side before lacking characters to fill the whole landscape when arriving to the left side. He just used who he had left to fill the left side, which gives something "uglier"
Shadow has all the space he wants, while others on the right struggle to breath.
Plus the way my girl Daisy is hidden by Link's foot seems tasteless ( same for how Simon hides Wii Fit trainer ).

That's my delusional? take on it.

Welp, I should've taken my own advice I suppose. With more info, I'm no longer as willing to buy into the Grinch leak. It's probably the most convincing leak we've gotten thus far, and I'm not discounting it yet. But it's likelihood has dropped significantly for me in just a few short hours.

Still giving it a fair 50/50 though. A lot about it makes it pretty convincing, but there are a lot of holes that can quickly disprove it. Seems like the patient waiting game is the best way to go as usual.

Those are all some good quality counter agurments for the leak, and yeah i agree that this could be fake due to all that. It is still impossible to say this is 100% fake though, as nothing on this out right proves it wasnt offical art.
