Shantae, the Half Genie Protector of Scuttle Town! (A Switch To A New WayForward)

Oh hey look we’re on page 420. Not gonna say anything because I’m hig-I mean above making jokes like that, so in something that is of course would be completely unrelated to said joke, what could Shantae’s dizzy animation look like?

Well, of course it would!

Her magic hair is probably her most defining, and iconic feature (except, for maybe her animal transformations, but they might be difficult to implement into her moveset...).

So far in my moveset for her, I have her hair whip as her neutral attack, down tilt, neutral air, part of her forward throw, and even an up tilt where she pushes up her hair manually:

But the AT part makes sense to me

Truth to be told, I'd rather just have Shantae use her Hair Whip, Items, Genie Magic and maybe some Fighting Gear Moves in her Smash Moveset.
Because that is the true Shantae.

In Pirate's Curse, as great as it might be, Shantae wasn't really Shantae, gameplay-wise (except for the Hair Whipping)
She was a Risky Boots stand-in. A temporary measure to cover for her lost abilities.
Which I don't think is a good representation of her character. if it were used as moveset in Smash.

Now, I am not against a few moves in her kit referencing moves from Pirate's Curse.
But making her whole Smash Moveset only revolve around Pirate's Curse and tossing everything else aside, that truly belongs to her...
I dunno, I think that would be an unwise decision.


Pirate's Curse may or may not be the best. That's entirely subjective.
But even if that's your opinion, I just don't think it's fair to completely disregard her moves from all other Shantae games.

I can agree with that. Though ultimately, her transformations, as close to her as her hair whipping is, may just regulated to Smash Attacks and Aerials. Though at least she also has more than just that, with her fireballs and storm puffs, among other magical powers she has.

2. The request for Snake in Melee wasn't denied. The game was simply too far along in development at the time the request was made.
Simply put, the request came too late. If it came sooner, Snake would've been in Melee.

And Shantae may have possibly not worked too well on the 3DS, considering the Ice Climbers situation.

I only want Shantae to have her magic and transformations. I know Sakurai would add Pirate's Gear on top of that but I wish it were centered around the two.

Instead I want the stage to be Lighthouse or Risky's Ship with Risky as a stage boss using all of her gear. That's what I would want personally.

I still think the Down-B Transformations thing could work, if properly executed.
But I am fine with either approach, as long as she is in the game.

I don't think this is the reason she wasn't in Smash 4 though.
She most likely just wasn't on Sakurai's radar back then.
Plus, she might not have been as big back then, as she is now.

The reason she’s gonna be revealed as a fighter on the 24th because it’s between two important shantae dates

23rd pirates curse released

24th direct/new franchise/pm time direct

25th pirates curse jp release/am time direct

And the music preview could be from pirates curse because of pirates curse jp release and with SF coming to Japan also on the switch ken will likely get revealed as an echo alongside shantae

So yes it all makes sense she will be revealed as a fighter on the 24th there is no such thing as an assist because SK already took that spot for indie AT meaning no more indie AT slots

Let me rephrase what I said

pc jp release=shantae reveal
Sf jp release=ken echo reveal
Alucard+sable prince=no more transforming AT
SK assist=no more indie AT (excluding shantaes AT/rotty)

It would be a nice timeframe for sure. And I wont be surprised if we get a direct around that time.

It's still a big positive either way, I still want her as a fighter, really really bad, but I just hope you understand that we dont know yet. I’m still rooting for a 3D Land like traveling stage taking you through the lighthouse, Scuttle Town, Scuttle Town on Fire, and Risky’s ship.

Alright GoldLiger heres my theory


Shantae would be in the same situation snake was back in melee
Kojami begged snake so hard for melee but denied just like people wanted sonic for melee

In brawl they were both there as playable characters

Matt begged shantae for Wii U/3ds but denied like kojami because bayo won the ballot so that makes her as a fighter in the next smash game
And there is likely one more 3rd party to be announced and shantae is one of those. for the others:
Banjo: is most likely a lock for dlc GUH-HUH!!!
Rayman:idk dlc maybe?
Dantae:deconfermed also too many capcom stuff
Steve:lol you really think he be a fighter?!?!
No one gets past the bear and the bird!

About the Bayo part, Sourcegaming actually found evidence that Bayo's preliminary data was added long before the ballot ended, and was most likely decided before it began, so the Ballot was 100% for ultimate.

While it is possible Sakurai could have met with him, I doubt it, since he doesn't know him personally like (I think) Kojima did.

Yeah. No matter how optimistic or pessimistic you are, you have to acknowledge that anything can go any way until it is confirmed or deconfirmed. The thing about something not being confirmed is that it's not confirmed.

IMO, I'd just use a version of Scuttle Town from PC (not HGH because PC wouldn't be a flat stage) with an open area at the side where a Risky boss would attack from. I was looking up what the PC version looked like, and I found something even better from a couple years ago (one day separated from 2 years exactly) lol. Just do either of the Non-Smashville ones but with some extra space for the boss and it'd be perfect!

I don't know if this was addressed, but as far as I know no one was 'denied'. It was requested for Blade Strangers with no answer from WF that we know of. And it does seem strange for indie pogo to say what they said, but people claim there was an official request, and that was never confirmed, just people saying stuff, and I dont know of any denying. correct me if I'm wrong.

As everyone one else said, so far all smash news has been in directs for this game, so It logical to feel they would do the same. Plus, shantae makes sense to reveal at a start of a direct so Sakurai can explain some stuff about her, the importance of an indie character in smash, and other things, like he did for Simon and richter

Which completely destroys the likelihood of that Decidueye leak. Because why would Sakurai need to go in-depth about his moveset when it would be most likely derived from Pokken Tournament?
