It was in response to that video, one of my dogs passed away a couple of weeks ago, I’m alright now, I’ve gotten more than enough condolences from my friends and family, so it’s not necessary from anyone here, I don’t want to derail the thread.

I've been pretty much a silent lurker here for a month or two and I've been spending my time gauging both Shantae and her most dedicated fans to see if she was something I wanted to get behind. I'll admit, my first impressions of her were not the best. I thought her and her gaggle of friends were just fan-service drivel, BUT I am happy to say I was wrong. After playing all of her games, I found them to be a lot of fun and overflowing with charm and plenty of replay value. I think that Shantae would be a perfect addition to smash. After all, who doesn't like rooting for an underdog?

With these being the last few weeks before the roster is inevitably leaked, I'd like to be on the right side of history and officially proclaim my support for Shantae! Please, add me to the supporter list!

Toad"ette" gets the mushroom and turns into Peach"ette" so if Bowser got the Mushroom there is no reason to have "ette" in the name. Bowsette would be if Toadette turned into Bowser. Bowser turning into Peach would have to be something like Peachowser or Peachser.

And for Boo it would be Peachoo.

As others have said the main reasons "ette" is used are, for one, it just sounds better than combining certain names like Peach and Bowser, and second probably because it conforms to the sound of the name of Peachette, the progenitor of the Super Crown craze.

Sure the "ette" seems like it comes from Toadette, but combing Peach with any other name isn't going to work as well as "ette" which is an actual feminine suffix. So really adding "ette" still works as that's even how we got Toadette. Take Toad add a feminine suffix, and you get Toadette. So, since the Super Crown turns characters in Peach doppelgangers, which of course turns any male characters in women, adding a feminine suffix to their name does actually work.

With that off topic name/word convention stuff out of the way let's get back to Shantae.
