As for whether or not he does be a priority? Well, yes. Shovel Knight, Bomberman, and Krystal are assists mostly on the grounds of the ballot, especially so on shovel knights case. So if the ballot justify assist status for those characters, then how wouldn’t it also so the same for Isaac? Unless you know, he scored high enough to make him into a playable character. :p

There's still no concrete evidence as to who placed how high in the ballot outside of fan polls. Hell, the earliest smash reddit poll had Shantae in 1st place. I'd say it's best to stay away from ballot speculation simply because we'll never know, remember how Bayonetta was never in any of the top 10 voted characters on fan polls yet she was THE highest voted character in the UK?

How many times have I had to see this sort of crap?

The votes definitely did have an impact on this game, but it doesn't matter too much. I didn't see characters like Simon Belmont, and Isabelle get too much support during the ballot days, and look where they are now.

Unfortunately too many people think Shovel Knight is the end-all be-all for indie games. His game was very good, but it was very new and the company is still having trouble to make a real profit on it because of how much everything cost to make (they aren't in the red or anything, but people are all clamoring fora sequel when they needed to use all the post release sales just to fund the rest of the stretch goals)

In the end, it doesn't matter how much other people over state SK's importance. Shantae has paid her Nintendo dues long ago and established herself as a staple Nindie feature. Even people from Nintendo have shown their fandom for her (the fan art of her from one of the Warioware artists and all the tweets Junichi Masuda of pokemon made when he was playing Pirate's Curse)

if she is in it won't be just because of the Ballot (tho that will help) it will be because she has an established history with Nintendo and she fits all the design qualities that Sakurai looks for in making a character (recognizable silhouette, traits/abilities only she can do, expressive and highly animated)

Shovel Knight had more working against him than people count. Not only was his game new, but it was only one game so there was no pattern for success. Nintendo Published the game for them in Japan and it was not a positive investment for them as it did not do well there. And more over, his design just isn't as ideal for Sakurai's criteria: His silhouette is fine, but aside from the horns his design is just generic armor. And thanks to that armor his range of expression is incredibly limited. No shown face means no expressions so all personality needs to be conveyed through body language, and sadly SK has very stumpy arms and legs which hinder really how much he can convey that way)

I kind of want to say there wouldn't be much of a difference because Dr. Light is just as bad about his robots getting used by the villain as Mimic does. I mean.... The MM1, Gamma, MM9, heck even Forte's upgrades were stolen from Dr. Light in MM8.

You know, when that musical just came out i caught an interview with Tim Curry. In it he talked about how he used to sing all his life and when he was a kid he had the highest soprano voice that all the music teachers always loved. Then of course he got older and his voice changed, but he still misses hitting those high notes. I remember this interview because basically the same happened with me and it was just cool to think that Tim Curry and I had a shared experience and reaction like that.

Mmmmm... tech in Sequin Land is kind of schizoprenic. Techno & Ammo Barons have fairly advanced stuff comparitively, but no one really bats an eye unless they're getting blasted by it. Yet Mimic makes a big deal about this cool thing called a bicycle.

The ressemblances between the scenes in Light's lab in 11 and Mimic's workshop in Half-Genie Hero are uncanny. Although the super adapter theft happened in 7, not 8.

I agree that that deconfirm's gonna be Shantae, but not for that reason. I said it before and I'll say it again: the "If Shovel Knight can't get in, then Shantae doesn't stand a chance." argument is bad, because it's hypocritical. It's hypocritical because if Shovel Knight got in as a fighter, people would be saying "If Shovel Knight got in to represent indie games, then Shantae can't get in". You can really only believe in one or the other.

Wouldn't mind a 3d shantae game at all!
So long as they dont give up on the 2d ones either. :)
