No clue.

I haven't been keeping up with their twitter too much lately since I figured we've gleaned all the information we'll be able to from them. Namely, the theory of their NDA.

Although I will say, Matt Bozon following Sakurai recently... and now this Direct dropping, who knows? I don't think it's enough for us to say anything with certainty but I'm very interested.

She's virtually safe from being deconfirmed via AT as well since: 1. this is a general direct and I don't expect a Smash segment given we've already had a Smash-focused direct (I could be wrong but I think it's safer to assume we'll only get a character reveal) and 2. new ATs don't get introduced alongside newcomers unless they tie in to that series.

On the flip, if there is a dedicated Smash segment then cross your fingers when the AT segment rolls around. If she doesn't appear in it, her chances skyrocket in my opinion.

I doubt there'd even be an AT segment for tomorow. I'm not calling off a smash segment, but I think it would most likely be one of those where there's a smash related news at the end, and it's 1 reveal trailer for 1 or 2 characters.
Always open to it being a longer one though and that would be great of course. everyone's thirsty for more smash.

Just wanted to say the outpouring of positivity in this thread involving not just Shantae but wishing all other characters the best is really awesome to see! It's too easy to get swept up in the constant negativity on the Internet and this is really refreshing to see on a public forum!

It would shake the video game universe, especially indies. A character who originated from a little known platformer on the Gameboy Color, becoming a playable fighter in one of gaming's largest franchises, would be very inspiring for other indie developers.

I'm really hoping a few "leakers" get BTFO'd tomorrow so people will stop worshiping everything they say.

No leaker in any previous speculation cycle has ever had consistent streams of new information. You get a bunch of stuff unceremoniously by different people at random times. And in fact, those people were often anonymous and were then targetted legally by Nintendo very quickly. That's how it's worked in the past.

I haven't enjoyed the new precedent of hanging on every word of attention seekers. They're overdue to be knocked down a peg.

The sad thing is, even if completely debunked, people will STILL believe loz18. I don't know why they keep coming back.

Yeah they are, they have a relatively small team, and indie doesnt strictly mean always self published as the game Bastion was helped published by Warner Bross. Interactive, the publisher just can't help with development costs.

Oh? What parent company is overseeing Wayforward's game development and driving their work schedule? Unless you mean the small number of physical copies they license Xseed/Rising Star to distribute to consoles makes them non indie, in which case you would be very mistaken.

I'm not even sure how many people take him seriously in the first place, because he's just someone who made thoughts and predictions and people thought it was cool that he had seemingly good foresight.

It's no big deal, and his twitter looks like he's just having his fun, counting on gex, which is just a funny thought.

The best thing for us is to ignore and block the haters. Don't give them any attention, which deep down is what they want.

Regardless of whether Shantae gets confirmed or deconfirmed, they will simply move on to another character to pile their hate on (especially if that character is female). They aren't worth your time.

Limited Run Games also gave some of Wayforward's games physical releases, and Limited Run's sole purpose is to give digital only indie games physical releases.

Gotta say a couple of things. I'm trying not to be too optimistic about this. That way I won't be disappointed. At this point, the only thing that will break my heart is if Shantae is confirmed as an Assist Trophy. Also, I saw a couple of leaks with Shantae as playable, but one had Doomfist from Overwatch so that one's silly. The other had Shantae as an Echo fighter of DIXIE. Whaaaaat.

Regarding that poll, I consider Shantae to be Top 5 since Sora is out of the question.

WayForward has a team of 50+ people that has been making games for decades and has made games in franchises like DuckTales, Ninja Turtles, Double Dragon, Marvel, Spongebob, etc.

If WayForward is an indie developer, than freakin Capcom is an indie developer.

I love Shantae and want her to be in Smash, but holding her up as this "paragon of indies" is nonsense because WayFoward was not downgraded to an indie developer just because they decided to KickStart one game.

From what I can tell Mimique isn't a leaker, as in he's not claiming to have inside info. He's just good at guessing, he doesn't know anything.

Kind of doubt that Shantae would be an assist. They wouldn't have chosen Shovel Knight as an assist if they were just going to make Shantae an assist as well.

I dunno. Them revealing Shovel Knight told me not to expect any more Shovel Knight but we haven't seen anything Shantae and as far as I can tell they were about the same popularity wise in the ballot.

Whether Geno, Skull Kid, Shadow, Isabelle, Shantae, Issac, Dixie and any other character the people on Smash Boards would like to see be playable let's all remember that whoever gets confirmed tomorrow we will ALL go to their board section and say congratulations.
