Banjo and Kazooie will happen if Nintendo and Microsoft can make a deal.

Geno and Isaac make sense at that level.

I STILL DON'T GET THE BANDANA DEE LOVE I'M SORRY!

Sora has no chance thanks to Disney.

That Shantae made it into 6th is quite impressive. Above Skull kid even.

Poor elma so low but probably high overall

Yup. Ignore the haters. Block them on social media and let them scream into the wilderness.

6th for Shantae is pretty good and I think that helps her chances, especially since I don't think Sora is happening. I'm also not sure about Banjo-Kazooie as like Shantae, I see them as a DLC character.

I don't understand the hype behind Bandana Dee either. If another Kirby rep were to make it in I'd much rather it be Marx. Also Shantae getting 6th place boosts her chances quite a bit.

Did she have some of that negative influence at the tail end of the voting phase? Because getting that high, even with that much hate, is still impressive.

Awesome! Good to see Shantae so high and also Phoenix Wright and Paper Mario are up there which is a plus for me.

My own thoughts on the unofficial poll:

Top 10 is definitely nothing to sneeze at, especially considering all the opposition Shantae's had.

Heck I could make the argument she's in the top 5 since Sora seems really unlikely simply for the fact Sakurai would have to deal with Disney and Square Enix, Square already being an interesting party to deal with (hello only 2 songs for FF in Ultimate), and I don't think Sakurai is willing to offer his soul to the Mouse :p

If that tweet from LeakyPandy pans out (and they seem adamant on it) Skull Kid ending up only as a boss tehnically puts Shantae even higher.

Disclaimer to Sora and Skull Kid fans: I am by no means putting down your characters, I actually would be 100% ok with them getting into the game.

Shadow Novus Shadow Novus You can add Banjo to that as well since Microsoft would be difficult to negotiate with. And I could honestly see Master Chief getting in over him first, just like Cloud with Geno. I think he has better odds for DLC where Microsoft can shave a percent of the profits off of each download. (By the way, I'm not suggesting Master Chief will be a part of the base roster or is even likely. But he could definitely be a road block to clear.)

Few characters have better odds than Shantae when it comes to legal negotiations, I'll say that much. If expedience with the roster finalization was a priority, that may have boosted her odds.

Man love those results. Being in the top ten really shows what probably could be the results of the world version could have had. Glad to see Shantae up there.

Geno and Isaac are still at the top, seriously. Bandana Dee is fine, and practically a shoe in. He's popular, and personally I get why people would love him. He's not one of my most wanted, but I'd enjoy seeing him in smash. That said, not Banjo, and I'm surprised there's still that many people voting for him (them).
I Think Geno and Dee are good bets, and then it depends.
No idea who's going to be announced next tho.

I didn't think Skull Kid had that many fans until all of the supposed leaks started listing him as a playable character, just because he wasn't confirmed to be an assist trophy. I know he did have his fans, but there are way more now than there were during the Smash 4 days. No hate towards Skull Kid's supporters though.

I think Geno, Issac, and Bandana Dee are pretty safe bets at this point. I don't get the love for Dee myself, but I'm not gonna hate on him.

Banjo-Kazooie makes perfect sense as a DLC character. Microsoft gets more profit with the downloads and there could still be issues with Microsoft to work out.

I highly doubt Sora is happening due to the rights issues with Disney and the lack of Kingdom Hearts representation on Nintendo consoles.

WayForward would jump at the chance for Shantae to be playable in Smash and this honestly gives me a little bit more hope for her chances either as playable in the base roster or as DLC. It would also explain their very out of character behavior.

I'm also not sure if we're getting a Pokemon or not either in the base roster.

Sakurai wouldn't just ignore the ballot results for Pokemon. I wouldn't even be surprised if the Pokemon newcomer is from an older gen either. With possibly a newer gen one as DLC.

Alright, I'm on board.

I have not finished Half Genie Hero, I just bought it yesterday to learn about this franchise, and I am sold.

Im not going to say whether I think it is likely or not this character gets any form of representation in Smash Bros, but, I would support Shantaes inclusion, just based on what I have seen and played so far.

This game has been near pure fanservice so far, now's just left to see how far it goes.

Given her placement on the smash ballot and given WayForward's highly suspicious activity (that is almost assuredly the result of an NDA), it's 99% certain that Shantae has representation in Ultimate in some capacity.

In what form... we don't know. But her chances are pretty good for playable.~

I'm gonna be glad once the reveals break apart some of the leaks and weird expectations some people have. And I hope it helps people keep open rather than follow what some people think.

I don't have much expectation for tomorow, but I'm ready to hear about a new character :D

There are a couple of google chrome extensions that hide youtube recommendations comments etc. You can set that up today to hide that.

That's the guy that isn't a leaker, he's just had good predictions sometimes and people were like whoa almost everything you said happened to be close to right.

I'm really hoping a few "leakers" get BTFO'd tomorrow so people will stop worshiping everything they say.

No leaker in any previous speculation cycle has ever had consistent streams of new information. You get a bunch of stuff unceremoniously by different people at random times. And in fact, those people were often anonymous and were then targetted legally by Nintendo very quickly. That's how it's worked in the past.

I haven't enjoyed the new precedent of hanging on every word of attention seekers. They're overdue to be knocked down a peg.

I was introduced to Shantae by the speculation around the smash 4 ballot. Haven't played her games yet, but ANY excuse to get some of the music from her games in is enough for me. Of course, she's also a legacy requested character, so I'd like to see her playable!
