For some reason my first thought was that there might not even be smash-related news on the direct tomorow, it's not e3 and it's a nintendo direct about involving the online. But if I think about what's popular online, smash comes to mind and 35 mins is a good amount of time, so maybe we'll get a reveal. Is there precedent for smash reveals on nintendo directs that aren't smash directs?

All the time. Many in fact are revealed in non smash directs.

Rosalina, Little Mac and Shulk were announced in general Directs so yes, there is precedent.

I'm trying to find older Directs to see a pattern here, but almost every one of them has more than 10 minutes of stuff on there. So either it'll be an especially truncated Smash Bros place, where Sakurai just talks about minor things with one character reveal, there's no Smash Bros place, or half the Direct is Smash Bros themed, considering that SSB is online accessible, which can give it some precedence.

cool. A pokemon rep or bandana dee could make sense for a non-smash direct. Just my thoughts on it right now.
But I'm open to something different too :D

Well guys... I didn't think we were getting a Direct this early in September, but here we are. As for whether or not we'll see Shantae today, I cannot say for sure on that, but I feel like a Shantae and Isaac reveal tomorrow would be perfect and please a ton of people, to be honest.

Of course, do be sure to keep your expectations low everyone, as anything can happen in these types of directs.

And yes, I will do my best to watch it live and even react to it, but the fact I have to watch it in-between classes might make it a bit more tricky for me to do so. Either way, let's hope for the best tomorrow!

The March 8th general Nintendo direct also teased Inklings w/ Smash. (We didn't even know it was called Smash Ultimate then).

I'm like 99.9999~% sure we're getting at least one character.

So Shantae's being added to Brawlout?

I'd say we're more likley to get Bandanna Waddle Dee or a Pokemon but I'm reasonably hopeful for Shantae here.

I still think that Shantae is in the game in some form. There's too much evidence, particularly WayFoward's out of character behavior, for this to be for nothing.

Yeah, I'm not expecting her to be revealed tomorrow but we should keep an eye on Matt Bozon's Twitter page to see if he retweets anything about the Direct. Only when that happens can our expectations soar.

But you have to remember that that was a Smash Bros. Direct. The Direct being shown tomorrow is a General Direct with I presume, the main focus being on the Switch's online features so I'm not expecting anymore than one unique character being revealed.

Remember, if she's not shown tomorrow and not deconfirmed, the hope still lives on. I've always said that she's a prime DLC character if she's not in the base roster.

I am guessing a mid to late october smash themed direct to go over story, then a direct a week before release to go over everything else and give us a preview for their DLC and continued support plans
