That is all... I wouldn't mind giving up her Zero Suit Samus transformation if it means I get to choose from multiple beams.

Why boot ZSS? Just make it so that Samus doesn't have to transform into her and all will be fine.

Actually, I don't mind ZSS being in Smash 4 as a playable character, maybe even one that Samus can change into and out of a la Sheilda. She was a refreshing addition and Metroid doesn't get much rep in Smash. Before ZSS is removed, Ridley and/or Dark Samus should be added or something.

I wonder if they're gonna use Metroid: Other M as a basis for Samus in Smash 4. Hopefully they incorporate some of her combat moves from the game, those kicked ass. I also hope they let Alésia Glidewall do Samus' voice again in Smash 4. The sexy low pitch voice Samus has in Brawl is perfect.

I would like it if she had a rapid shot for her charge beam, it'd be useful for zoning. Or maybe implement the Ice Beam somehow. I mean not many ice moves are in Smash bros. so it'd be good to have another character that can trap others for a quick second. The only other change I can think of for Samus is kind of a big one. I'd personally separate PSSamus and ZSSamus. Given that they are so vastly different. Not to mention it'd be good to use either of their Final Smashes without switching to the other. Though that that does make it hard to give ZSSamus a final smash to replace the old one.

Full charged Charge Shot could have Ice effects on it for sure. But all I actually want is a actual useful Screw Attack. With double jumping abilities. Oh, and Melee's missiles of coarse.

At this point they more than likely will, other m and prime 3 are the most recent titles and as weve seen with brawl recent entries seem to get more favor as far as over all representation for ongoing series go.

Definitely. And what i would like to see them do is make it so samus can change on the fly since as we know the varia suit was part of the zero suit and could be changed between at will. Samus can still keep her massive beam final smash, but the armor wouldnt fall off, and zero suit samus could get a new final smash as well. One of my friends loved playing as zero suit samus and he hated getting the smash ball for fear of turning into armored samus since he was terrible with her, so in way it was kind of a hinderance/drawback to those who used her and might have only been proficient with one of them.

But her brawl design was lifted directly from zero mission, it has brawls lighting and texturing to make it fit with the rest of the art design, but it is exactly the same.


I thought the other m suit was pretty cool myself, much sleeker.

I can't believe there is so little Samus discussion. I mean, she's one of Nintendo's most popular characters, but rarely discussed here. I'll just start out that I hope they significantly buff her from her Brawl self.

Less KO power on regular moves suits her, but the nerf in projectiles is what really killed her in the end. Hope they'll make her Missiles and Charge Shot as strong as they where in Melee. Where I felt they where implemented perfectly. Made add a charge function on the Missiles as well, so it might actually become a finishing move.

Make regular missiles as strong as her Super Missiles in Brawl, but make charged Super Missiles able to kill much like her Charge Shot.

Oh, and her roll totally should be the 'sence move' roll from Other M. That'd be a thoussand times more useful than that slow Morph Ball roll. Unless they can make it so that you can actually use the Morph Ball fully, I hope they change this into her roll.

the only change i care about for Samus would be, as others have said, fully seperate Samus from her ZerSuit counterpart, and give Samus a Power Bomb Final Smash! not that the zero laser isnt cool, but i like canon things more

I thought Zero Laser was one of the coolest non-canon Final Smashes in Brawl. Second has to be Link's Triforce Slash.

Here are the things I'd like to see in Next Samus:

BEAM TYPES
While charging up her shot, hitting a direction would fire off what's charged already and then change her beam type for the next shot. Currently selected beam would be obvious by her gun arm crackling with electricity, glowing red and smoking, or glowing blue with steam rolling off of it.

- Up, NORMAL

(charge shots have more launching than the other projectiles)

- Right, WAVE
(charge shots home slightly with a little extra hitstun, projectiles move through terrain)

- Left, PLASMA
(charge shots penetrate through enemies and objects, projectiles launches faster)

- Down, ICE
(charge shots freeze enemies in place instead of launching them)

CHARGE COMBO MISSILES
When firing a super missile with a fully charged beam, you can hold the button a little longer to instead expend the beam charge and fire a powerful missile charge combo.

- NORMAL, Super Missile
(expanded blast radius, greater launch)

- WAVE, Wavebuster
(fires a beam of electricity that randomly arcs to nearby objects and players. The beam is avoidable with clever air dodging or getting behind cover, but for the most part is difficult to avoid taking damage. When the beam finishes, there is slight knockback to whatever is touching it at the end.)

- PLASMA, Flame-Thrower
(Essentially, grants Samus with a short duration curry breath coming from her gun. She can move and attack freely except using specials will interrupt the Flame-Thrower.)

- ICE, Ice Spreader
(launches a ball of ice that, on impact, freezes everything around the blast in a large radius. Does not freeze as long or do as much damage as a direct hit with a fully charged ice beam)

TRUE MORPH BALL
Down B quickly puts her into morph ball mode, a nimble mode.​
- Normal Attacks simply become dropping bombs.​
- Side special, BOOST
Side special becomes Boost, a charge attack where she quickly slams in the direction indicated based off of how long the button was held.​
- Neutral special, POWER BOMB
After a short delay, essentially sets off a miniature Smart Bomb where Samus was when the button was pushed. 15 second cooldown, indicated by how brightly the morph ball lines are glowing.​
- Up special, SPRING BALL
She essentially just boosts upwards immediately, damaging enemies in the way. While boost stops when it hits something, Spring Ball would just continue through. Can only be used once per jump, but all other attacks can still be used afterwards.​
- Down special reverts to normal Samus.​

Glad to see so much support for the Morph ball mode.

Here's what I think the move set should be

All A attacks on ground: A short hop
All A Air attacks: Spins around

B: Power Bomb, hold to charge
B-Side: Boost Ball, Sharges forwards
B-Up: Unfurl, stands up.
B-Down: Morph Bomb, works like the original bombs with some changes.

Up B Screw Attack is now like the item Screw Attack, and is a great comboing move.

Nope. It sucks. Does way too little damage, and it's hella laggy. And it's a quite sucky recovery at that.

Also, fixing bombs before the missile's old knockback?? NO WAY JOSE!

She does have the grappling beam to make up for the recovery part of that, and it's not too bad at recovering horizontally. But yeah, besides that it leaves you way too open, and it doesn't damage enough to be worth it.

Really liking all these Beam change ideas, always thought that Samus should be very reliant on her projectiles, as she is in the games. The Morph Ball idea is great too, but I'd prioritize that under Beam change, which should be prioritized under fixing what's already wrong with her.

Exactly, which is the complete opposite of what Screw Attack does in actual Metroid games. I mean, Screw Attack is even putting it delligently, it might as well be called '****ing You Over Majorly Attack'. Cause that's what it does. It should do a little more damage at least in Smash. About 5-10% more I feel.

Even without the old knockback which I'd like back admittedly, missiles still have their use (at least the super missile variation). Bombs on the other hand...

Bombs have never been really useful, missiles where. Which is why I hated the missile nerf more than anything. If Samus had super good bombs for Down B, but her missiles are still as sucky as in Brawl I'd hate that.
