Here is some critique for Grim. Hope you do ok at Robocop.
I hope my efforts arent too wasted but I just watched a random vid and typed up some thoughts.
GRIM v GHOST
Grim:
You lack spacing and timing which can end up in poor execution of attacks/rushes/defensive play
See 0:22 -> you went too far. Its a simple issue but a big issue, Punish with UpB or Smash could have happened but
you ran too far and got to the edge. I think control needs to be tighter in general.
Practice SH airials and Fastfall at peak of Jump and practice dashing precisely as well as pivot grab, which is hard with MK
since he slide so much.
---
Do you know if you grab edge, drop off straight away and Nair, you still have invuln frames from edge grab? When edgeguarding
jumping off and on the ledge is good for leaving more options for yourself. Be proactive!
At 0:28 this was an option. Just in case you didnt know
___
You need to be more patient. M2K is the fastest player you'll see. Also most patient. He just stands there letting things
happen, or takes a moment to space pixel perfect. (dont worry bout pixel perfect haha).
See 0:35 - You ran to edge with dash attack; trying to hard to get the attack. Know your timing! How much time you have!
When Ghost does something terribly like that UpB and you can punish hardcore, Dsmash is not a success from you!
You NEED to save your Dsmash for those hard to get kills. It's important to save up Dsmash. In fact never use Dsmash if
opponent under 75%. >=C tilts and other attacks can be used just as well with same frame advantage, as well as more likely
to combo out of them. YET, in this case, you could have charged a Fsmash had you not rushed in, potentially killed Ghost.
___
1:16 - 1:20 Disgusting. You may not see how important this is.
Spotdodge - > Dsmash (hits sheild) -> Dsmash. You were pressured, doubted yourself (no thinking) and Spotdodged.
Then you Dsmashed when Ghost did nothing (lol he bad too) and it hit his sheild. So you Dsmashed again.
This says to me "ahh he's near me im scared! ... get away get away gtfo get awaaaayyyyy"
Does not seem like a player in control
Think about your actions, what the opponent can see in your actions. If he knows you are like this, he's only gonna
get into your head. Compose yourself, and even take more time before using a move, as long as its thought through.
People just gonna bait spotdodges next to them unless you only do like 3-4 per match.
In that situation, you were rushing him. Why spotdodge on a rush? Ghost could have gotten out of that situation easily and
been prepared to counter after your invuln wore off. A planned grab in accordance with what Ghost did would have been fine.
___
Less dashing to edge poorly (1:39)
Less spot dodge->Dsmash (moments leading up to 1:39)
Ghost did not juggle with Uair at oppurtune moments; it didnt seem like it, but you often left yourself vulnerable wasting
jumps above Ghost with no plan, simply making yourself vulnerable. see (1:47). FF air dodge then something aggressive perhaps? Ghost
was waiting when he didnt have to, so perhaps you could bait him then do something? nonetheless what you did shouldnt have worked,
but, not bad i guess
____
1:53
Such poor spacing/thinking from both of you to get that close. If one of you had taken more care in spacing an Ftilt or a surprise SH Dair,
that would have been fine.
___
Your offstage game and especially use of UpB OFFSTAGE was often elaborately planned thought through and that is good.
___
2:27
That Dsmash wouldve killed if it wasnt so diminished.
___
2:30-2:38
If you were playing Afropony, and he was Ghost in this situation he would have gimped you easy peasy.
And vice versa if he were you, he'd have gimped Ghost easy. You both left yourselves very open and better timing and
thinking ahead should have been here. The option of retreat is always there too. Your choice. Ghost should have retreated
imo, coming into a dominant position from a position where he nearly died isnt easy and he had no means to do so really,
although you did give him a chance (which he shouldnt have had) to jump and Uair or UpB or Grab ledge when you used UpB at 2:32
___
2:40 worst planking ive ever seen. So passive, you just flew into a corner. I dont even have critique for that, maybe in
person i MK ditto you and i could help better.
___
Ghost punishes your tentative ways (Spotdodges and unneccesary sheilding) as well as your Dsmash timing (always the same)
and your rushed dash attacks (too obvious about it) on your last stock.
___
You need far more move variety.
---
I dont care if this was a bad match or not or if you dont normally play so aggressive
But there are definitely things I have covered that would run in your game. If you are super positive
that all the things I said you have fixed, then ill see you in the bracket.
Otherwise I advise you practice those things because they are mostly super important.
Especially your character control, both of u bad. Platform cancel more, space SideB so grabs edge instantly or touchs ground,
dont wanna see this free fall animation stupidity
![Stick Out Tongue :p :p](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/tongue.gif)
And more precise spacing with character position definitely!
Good Luck Mason!
