This thread has been going for nearly 4 years and there was Adelaide threads even before that. Its been alot slower in the past than it has been recently. Its only coz Nova is banned anyway.

I hate to herp, but to derp: Pokemon is stale, go buy an interesting game that has actually changed things since the original game.
Pokemon so different now yo.
Always adding stuff...
Gender, Berry Mixing, Poke Contests, Secret-Houses, Breeding, Better Storylines, Phones, the PokeNav or whatever and Diamond/Pearl were way different to Ruby/Sapphire. Then theres 3D too...
And in battle there is New moves, Natures, Attributes like "Intimidation" etc. and better battle items.
Combined with the fact all the pokemon are new and the worlds are new
It's not stale at all. Perhaps nearing the "best before" date, unless they innovate it heaps again, with even bigger changes to each game.

bottom line is, pokemon is pokemon, NOTHING else in the world like it. you ask it to change? the player base that LIKE pokemon for POKEMON will hate it, and all the new ***s will love it.
people want games to change the things they dont like and keep the things they do, so no one will ever be happy.
i love the pokemon formula, and im glad its the same all these years down the track ^_^ look at mario. they tried changing that formula, and it FAILED.

There is a difference between changing the formula and breathing new life into the franchise.
I literally feel like I'm playing the same game when I compare the older Pokemon games to the newer ones, I do not feel this way with, for example, Zelda Wind Waker and Zelda Ocarina of Time.

I completely disagree with Azernus.
The formula is basically the same but they are adding stuff subtly. It's more like patching and updating to the extreme + New Pokemon (they're pretty decent this time around too).
I think there is enough change. Timic for example wont play past Gen 2, coz Gen 3 they added attributes like Intimidation which changed the game heaps so Tim doesn't play. The changes are big enough to make it worth it but they do still stick to the old formula enough.
The difference between Zelda: WW and OoT is much more innovative and breathes life into the series far better, but as far as Pokemon and the type of game it is goes, they couldnt change it all that much more without just being... stupid. So they just keep making it better instead, with only small subtle changes.
And breathing life into a dead horse =/= beating a dead horse. Nintendo make each title different enough within one series for me to be able to say that. The franchise characters like Mario and Donkey Kong and Samus make you pay attention to those games, and those surely tend to be the best titles Nintendo release. They dont need new series', they can just fuel their main titles well enough to maintain them. There is enough diversity and being fond of a character increases markebility, so just make a new game thats good, dont need a new character. Horse still alive.
And Mario is still great lol what. Well thats my opinion ... but you said it failed?
The newer mario titles have appealed to new fanbases and also kept the previous players entertained. Galaxy was the most entrancing-lose-yourself-in-the-game game that Mario starred in, and i believe the innovation was great.

1) i said the formula handt changed. so therefore you agree with me.
2) 60% of the new pokemon are terrible, they arent pokemon, but this is an invalid argument for me because you only need 6 pokemon to finish the game, and i have atleast 20 that i like
3) pretty much what i said aboiut changing pokemon. change it and it wont be pokemon anymore. agreeing with me once again.
4) They beat mario with a stick so many times it isnt funny. sure, galaxy appealed to a greater fanbase, but check out the sales of SM64 vs SM:S, or SMG1/2.
4) a - Metroid is forever destroyed after other M, enough said (and metroid prime/echoes are my favourite video games, so im not soem metroid hater)
5) i never criticised them, i mocked the fact that they have yet to come up with a new franchise that has sold as well as any of their older ones.
plus, most of this 100% irrelivant because im a nintendo fan boy and i love paper mario, metroid, pokemon and LoZ :D
