Just curious about you smashers out there.
After attending my first tourney, I noticed that all setups' rumble were set to off.
I then had to make my own tag and personalize it by adding rumble.
I NEED rumble to on. I'm just used to it.

Well, do you not like rumble for whatever reason? or do you enjoy it when your hands shake violently whenever falcon knees you in the face?

Also discuss the benefits of having rumble on/off. (because I don't know)

It is really starting to annoy me that everyone turns off rumble, lol. It only really bothers me when I actually notice though (which I do most of the time now because i'm more aware of people doing it, i guess). Same with music.

Depends on what controller I'm using. The one I'm using right now is heavier than the one I used before (which was a newer model) and the rumble is a lot more noticeable with it, so I usually turn it off.

I don't mind rumble with the controller I used before.

I play on an emulator half the time so I'm used to it being off, and I prefer it that way. But I don't really care if its on its not worth changing the settings over IMO

I play with rumble on. It makes my hits feel more powerful. And who doesn't like the vibrating sensation when you win a match? :bee:

I ripped the rumble pack out of my gcube controller.

It's so much lighter now.

Most rumble users can't even tell whether its on or not and don't even bother to change it either way.

Non-rumble users can tell right away as soon as the game goes to the stage select screen. You will see non-rumble users reset matches because its so obvious of an obstruction.

Rumble-off should be default.

I know a few people who prefer rumble-on because it "relaxes their hands." I call bull **** either way. People love making excuses. I've never noticed a difference between rumble-on and rumble-off in terms of consistency.

IIRC, Axe, Armada and Amsah all use rumble. I might be wrong on that though.

It's possible that having rumble on would be beneficial in a way (SDI, hitstun), but I can't play with it. I just can't. It feels awkward and wrong.

Rumble off is the way.

I remember when even I was a noob the way I would know hitstun was over was when my controller stopped rumbling, and I didn't even do this consciously

I just can't stand the vibration anymore for melee. I need my hands to be calm and not shaken up and since the rumble startles me easily, I take it off. I don't see on or off as being a default option.

I reset matches at that point because I realise rumble is off.

I slightly agree with kal btw. It's only when it draws my attention because i'm aware of it, that it really influences my game i think.

Clip the positive wire to the rumble motor. /thread

:phone:
Why just cut the positive wire when you can cut both and take the whole thing out? Like I said earlier, it makes your controller considerably lighter.

What about rumble is irritating? Do you simply dislike feeling a vibration? Does it distract you so much you make mistakes?

I agree I dislike vibration, but I do not care so much I would stop a match and say I have to have rumble off.

a very good doc here called Dave uses rumble for better DI.
He said that he can DI better when he gets hit with rumble on.

As for me, well. I hate rumble. Shaky controller making me nervous

You don't think the wavebird is lighter than a normal controller?

Edit: Went ahead and weighted them because i'm weird like that... And it seems you're right, the wavebird is slightly heavier (250 grams vs 200). I suppose it's just where the weight is that bothers me then (front vs. centered). The lack of rumble and its weight always annoyed me as I couldn't really feel I had a controller in my hands. So yeah, my point simply is that lower weight so you feel the controller even less isn't neccesarily a positive.

Both understandable. I've always been a fan of lighter controllers, haven't really heard others' opinions on the matter but I assumed most people felt the same way.

Now I wonder if people intentionally add weight to their controllers.

I add weight to my mouse

:troll:

:phone:
funny that you post :troll: because that implies you can't normally add weight to a mouse.

I actually do add weights to my mouse, it had a cartridge in it for weights and I add exactly 19g of weight to my mouse. G9 ftw.
