If Sonic didn't receive anything elaborate for his return, I doubt Mewtwo is going to get much more than the standard veteran fare. He's still a veteran, regardless of his absence in Brawl.

I will say that we'll NEVER get a reveal on par with Sonic being revealed for Brawl. Nothing will come even close, the closest thing you'll get this time around is Ridley being revealed for Smash 4, and that's still small potatoes. Literally, the only thing that could of created bigger hype was that if Sonic was revealed in the very first trailer for Brawl back at E3 2006.

Like I said, nothing will be 1/100th as big as Sonic being confirmed in Brawl. It was a level of hype for a potential newcomer that we'll never see again.

I could. In fact Megaman was quite the surprise, but I know I could be surprised even further.
It's just too bad that the one I have in mind, despite being first party, main character, and pretty unique, will most likely be overlooked because he's nowhere near as iconic as the rest of the cast, nor as out of the field as characters like Game & Watch and ROB.

My head is spinning. The only character that was replaced was Young Link, who was repalced by Toon Link. Dr. Mario, Roy, and Mewtwo were cut due to time constraints. They were supposed to be in there with their franchise. So do you think that Ike replaced Roy? Because that is your argument.

I really want a new Pokemon Rep. Someone like... Machamp. Or Machoke. I forget which one is the third revolution, although I'm pretty sure it's Machamp. I just remember trying to find a trade to get the last evolution was a hassle for me.

Eh. There are better Mario choices than her. I mean, I like the idea of having her, maybe do what they did in Mario Kart and give her a Luma, but I don't find it realistic.

It's not acting like Sakurai. It's basing it off what Sakurai actually does. Young Link is the only character he ever replaced and he was replaced with a different version of himself. He doesn't replace characters with completely different characters.

Well, don't get your hopes up. The Gen 1 Starters are your starters in X & Y and the Gen 1 trainer is getting his own Anime. Unfortunately he's like the only option. But, I'd like to see Serena as DLC. The Gen 6 starters are not more iconic than Red or Lucario, and they aren't even your starters.

To elaborate, I expect Charizard + (one) gen 2-5 pokemon + gen 6 pokemon, for PkMn trainers pokemon. Something just feels like it's gonna happen, but we'll definitely see there.

I don't quite seeing it as serious with Lucario as it was with Mewtwo, or even Roy.

I quite simply don't like Sonic or Megaman. That's all there is regarding this.

I do think a multi-gen trainer is a good way to represent multiple generations. With the advent of X&Y starters, though, I'm doubting it a lot.

Scenario: Brawl is in development and time is getting scarce. The best option is to cut characters to save time.
Dr. Mario: "We already have Mario. So long, doc!"
Roy: "We're already adding in Ike, perhaps we can rotate out Roy."
Mewtwo: "We're already adding in Lucario, perhaps we can rotate out Mewtwo."


Calling it "forgoing" instead of "replacing," due to the two characters filling conceptually similar niches.
