Honestly, I think he may have gotten over his modesty. He did add both King Dedede and Meta Knight.
He said that he made Brawl like it was the last Smash ever. So he added the 2 biggest Kirby characters.
And people may argue that modesty hurts Palutena, but Sakurai didn't create the character of Palutena.

I agree... there are too many impossible characters. Personally, I think that moveset potential combined with relevancy (being a key character, having major playable roles or story roles, being promoted by Nintendo) and recency (being in games that came out after Brawl came out) and being first-party (the only exceptions are Pokemon and third-party) would help Nintendo characters get in Smash... as for third-party characters, they just need to be mascots of their respective companies. I think that these 16 characters (8 from veteran franchises, 8 from newcomer franchises) are very possible and very reasonable.

Thank you, I agree completely.

Of course there will be one or two more shocking characters that, while makes sense, we might not have thought of, or just seemed unlikely. But these 16 have and had the best chance. (I think for Toad, you could switch out for Bowser Jr. or Paper Mario. All three have good chances and are very reasonable)

It's a shame none of us even cared to think of Wii Fit. I mean, it made perfect sense to include her.

I'd be cool with Toon Zelda I guess, But she's not exactly a character I'd want.

Kirby is fine the way it is.
The same could be said about almost EVERY franchise in the game. We are at the point where all of the essential characters are already in the game. So I wouldn't be surprised if we did get a new Kirby rep or an F-Zero rep. Are they fine as is? Yes. Could they use more? Sure.

Yes! I was waiting for this topic. I was thinking about it, and I would be perfectly happy with Tetra. But not a transforming Tetra/Toon Zelda. An original moveset Tetra.

Keep Toon Zelda out, but I would welcome Tetra very much. Toon Zelda can be her final smash if anything lol

I wouldn't mind Tetra. I just don't like the implications of Toon Zelda or Sheik at all. I would prefer a more worthy candidate. Such as Tingle.

I personally see Tetra as more worthy than Tingle...but, then again, I also consider Impa to be more worthy than Tingle. Maybe I'm just biased against him.

Hypothetically speaking, if Miis were in this game, what would your reaction be?
I would be perfectly fine. It makes total sense as characters, in both importance and the hint towards customization, they certainly deserve to be in, and if you don't like them, then you can use them as punching bags.

The only thing I could see wrong with having them added is people making Miis that look like, say, genitalia and other stuff like that. But I would think if all else fails they would just add a slew of randomly made Miis.

People that don't want them in, I understand, but they make sense. I never really wanted them, but if you say that they don't deserve it then you are in denial. Families all over the country played on that crappy Mii Channel for hours when they first got their Wii.

Pit in Brawl, followed by ROB in Brawl, followed by Mewtwo in Melee.

Nothing about Toon Link screams grappling or karate.

If you want to give a character those moves, use a blank slate character or like a Street Fighter character. Heck, Nintendo has a few karate using characters.

Game & Watch is ridiculously important. As for the Ice Climbers, they got in over a dozen "important" Mario and Pokémon characters.

Still, the Ice Climbers are "important enough" because they are the stars of a game.

I would hate their inclusion, but consider it likely due to the leak. That being said, I have to wonder whether Sakurai would add the Mii to SSB4, a mixture between Melee and Brawl, when his rationale for keeping them out of Brawl was that he wanted to take the game in a less casual direction. This is coming from the same guy who added tripping to Brawl as part of this direction.

Miis don't serve any problem. In fact they are the perfect form of customization. People complain about Mii names and looks, but you already have the ability to change your name and looks are a minor nitpick considering you still look like a Mii.

Miis are characters just like any other Nintendo character. They have their own characteristics and abilities. Unlike during Brawl they have so much potential from games like StreetPass, Wii Party U, Wii Play, PilotWings Resort, Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Party, Wii Fit U, and the consoles themselves could be implemented. The fact that Miis have their own move set and charateristics shoots down the whole issue of "people online always playing as Miis" because unlike Smash, you didn't have to worry about Miis being different from the rest of the roster.

The fact that Smash is on Wii U & 3DS makes it a good idea to add Miis. I'd also love to be able to earn things to add to your Mii's physics like wings to have multiple jumps and armor to make you heavier and increase your offense.

I used to HATE the idea of him, but I sat down one time and thought about it, as a Zelda fanboy, who'd I'd wish for in Smash Bros. The list was this:

1. MM Link (Deku/Goron/Zora)
2. Skull Kid
3. Tingle
4. Tetra
5. Impa

Customization as in looks?
I don't know. Whatever customization Sora Ltd. is alluding to. However, I wouldn't mind Villagers appearance being customizable if it meant that we wouldn't get Miis. I perceive Villager as a sophisticated Mii. So changing up his hair or whatever would be fine with me. If Miis were in the game, I would obviously prefer it if we couldn't change the aesthetics of Villager.

Had a thought, what if Sakurai was the one who sent the leak to that certain website. He could be playing mindgames with us.

That would be hilarious. Is it a false trail? Or is the leak legitimate? Only Sakurai knows.

You convinced me. Their inclusion is inevitable anyhow. So I am going to prepare for their imminent reveal with some positive emotion. Miis can be fun. Miis can be great. I suppose they are deserving when you really think of it. Collectively the Miis could represent the Smash fanbase. Just as Pokemon Trainer represents the entirety of Pokemon.

Everybody always acts like Sakurai is playing mindgames with us. Just because you feel teased doesn't mean it's intentional AT ALL.

But Dr.Kawashima makes tons of sense. Brain Age is a popular casual Nintendo series to warrant a character. Sakurai is looking for characters we have never seen before. Dr. Kawashima is the perfect definition of that.
Right that totally draws away from the fact that he's the head of a person in real life and this neither a Nintendo character or feasible fighter. Oh, wait! NO IT DOESN'T, BluePikmin11.

You do realize that EVERY character that hasn't been in Smash fits the definition of "Characters we've never seen before"

I think that having Wii Fit Trainer, Mii, and Villager is enough for the casual crowd, myself.

The real-life problem is non-existent. Only thing Sakurai has to do is ask the professor himself.
